Chapter 080 Persistence is Key in Pursuing Love!

"Mom, what are you going on about?" Cormac quickly presented her with a fabricated diagnostic report, saying, "The doctor diagnosed it as a gastric ulcer, but a severe one. I stayed for dinner today to urge you to have surgery immediately." Ravenna examined the report, her brows furrowed. "I can't understand all the technical jargon here, but I have enough common sense to know you don't need surgery for a stomach ulcer, right?"

"Wasn't that what your son just said?" Griffon interjected. "An ordinary ulcer, no, but yours is severe and does require surgery."

"That's right, Mom. I might be a psychologist, but I'm still a doctor. I know a thing or two. Don't you trust me?" Cormac appealed to her.

"I trust you, of course," Ravenna conceded. "Alright, we'll do as you say."

"Good. Tomorrow, I'll arrange for your hospital admission, and we'll move forward with the surgery as soon as possible," Cormac announced.

After dinner, Cormac chatted with Ravenna for a while before urging her to get some rest, leaving only himself and his father in a suffocating atmosphere.

Griffon broke the silence. "Did you visit Galatea Hartley?"

"Yes," Cormac replied. "Galatea is very professional in this field. If it weren't for her current recovery, I would have insisted she be the primary doctor for my mom."

"You've only met her a few times, and you trust her this much?"

"The number of encounters may be few, but I am good at judging character. As a doctor, she is absolutely trustworthy."

Griffon scoffed at that. "That girl really is something. A woman filled with lies, who doesn't even dare to reveal her true identity, has managed to completely deceive you all."

"What do you mean?" Cormac was clueless.

"It means you're both too young and naive, conned without even realizing it," Griffon said as he ascended the stairs. "After all, I am your father. Despite any distance between us, I always want what's best for you. It's better to keep your distance from that woman."

Cormac could not grasp what Griffon was implying, but his main concern at the moment was Ravenna's illness. He had no time to ponder over whatever falsehoods Galatea might be concocting.

...

In the following days, Alaric was extremely busy, as the construction project for the entertainment complex had officially commenced.

Ravenna had been admitted to the hospital and undergone surgery.

On the day of her operation...

Alaric brought Galatea with him to visit her at the hospital.

Ravenna had just been wheeled out of the operating room, still groggy from the anesthesia, so they didn't stay in the room for too long.

Cormac remained by Ravenna's side to care for her, while Griffon escorted the two visitors out of the room.

"Alaric, with your company being so busy and you still making time to see your aunt, that's very thoughtful," Griffon remarked.

"My aunt having surgery is a priority, no matter how busy I am," Alaric responded. "The surgery was a success, and with the upcoming chemotherapy, she should be fine." "Hmm," Griffon responded, turning his gaze toward Galatea.

When she caught him looking, Galatea quickly turned away, feeling a strange sense of fear whenever she met his eyes.

"It looks like you've recovered quite well, Galatea."

"It's alright," she replied.

With a sly half-smile, Griffon chuckled. This woman had quite the luck; that perfect car accident should have been lethal, yet she survived!

"Which country is the esteemed Mrs. Knight currently traveling in? She's been away so long; when does she plan to come back?" Griffon inquired.

"Since her retirement, she's been enjoying her trip around the world. Why rush coming back?" Alaric remarked.

"That's true," Griffon agreed. "Alright, Alaric, I have to go take care of your aunt, so I won't be staying any longer." "Alright."

After Griffon had left, Alaric clearly heard Galatea let out a sigh of relief.

"What's wrong? You seem fearful."

"I don't know why, but I find him quite frightening, and it feels like he harbors a great hostility toward me."

The fact that she was Stellan Storm and only Griffon knew about it was troubling for Galatea. Despite the time that had passed, he hadn't revealed her secret to anyone, which made her anxious.

"Due to Orion's situation, he might harbor some hostility towards you. But don't worry about it. I won't let him hurt you."

Still, Galatea couldn't shake off her unease. Seeing Griffon reminded her of the words he once said to her.

After changing her name and hiding her past, the effort to conceal everything was exhausting. Did she really need to come clean to Alaric?

After all, she didn't have an actual relationship with Alaric. Wouldn't suddenly confessing everything to him be too abrupt?

"What are you thinking about?" Alaric asked, noticing Galatea was lost in thought. He waved a hand in front of her, and she snapped back to the present, shaking her head. "Nothing, just take me home, please. You should get going on your busy schedule."

"Yes, things have been hectic," Alaric said. "By the way, there's a kickoff party this weekend, with many notable guests attending. You promised to accompany me."

"Sure." It was something Galatea had agreed to previously.

...

After dropping Galatea off at her home and watching her enter the building, Alaric was about to head back to his office when his phone began to ring. It was Harry calling. "Hey, Caspian."

"Tomorrow's Mom's birthday, did you forget?" Harry asked with a reproachful tone.

"Of course not."

"That's good. If you really want to win Mommy over, show some effort, buddy. I want to spend it with her, and I haven't had the chance yet."

"I know." Alaric had been keeping Galatea's birthday in mind and had already prepared for it.

"Good to know," said Harry. "Initially, I decided not to let Mom be with you, but seeing that you're sincere, I'll give you a chance. But if you make her sad again, I'll cut you out completely!" Alaric couldn't help but laugh; Harry sounded like Galatea's own son, firmly on her side.

Birthday?

The thought of her upcoming birthday left Alaric feeling impatient, while Galatea hardly paid it any heed.

Ever since the bankruptcy of the Storm family, she hadn't liked celebrating her birthday, often forgetting when the day came around.

Harry and Elisa, however, always remembered. This year was no different.

...

Her two children called her first thing the next morning. "Mommy!"

Elisa said, regret in her voice, "I've prepared a really special and pricey gift for you, but I can't make it back right now. I'll give it to you when I return." "No rush, you two be good out there."

"Sure, happy birthday, Mom!" Caspian chimed in. "We'll make it up to you when we get back."

"Got it, thanks, my darlings. Mommy loves you."

After ending the call with her children, Galatea felt overjoyed. She decided to take the day off, without any work, and simply rest for the entire day.

That night, she unexpectedly received a call from Alaric. Before she could even speak, Alaric commanded, "Come out!"
