Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 458 Did You Hit Her?
Because of Mia, Alaric had been kicking himself all day. He'd pulled every string he could, but after a whole day, still nothing.
Stellan had gone to the office and hadn't come back. He was feeling antsy, so he parked himself in front of the computer, watching the surveillance footage from Far East International, hoping to clear his head. Out of nowhere, he stumbled upon quite the scene.
But because of the camera angle, Alaric could only see their backs. He couldn't catch their exact words, but he could see from their body language that Ambrose and Stuart had a major falling out. Good, let them tear each other apart; the Vale family was on its way down. Fall, what a perfect season for a downfall.
Alaric then saw on the footage that a bunch of people were respectfully moving all of Ambrose's stuff back into the office. After that, Stuart left, and Tommy was helping Ambrose settle in. Alaric was baffled by Tommy's protective stance towards Ambrose. Who the heck was Tommy, and what was he up to now?
After mulling it over and getting nowhere, Alaric checked the time. It was already dark outside. The three had boxing class, and their late return had made him lose track of time. Alaric thought, 'It's so late, and Stellan still isn't back? She must still be mad.'
He then called Stellan, but she hung up on him.
Alaric thought for a moment and then called Cormac. Given the situation and the fact that it was already dark, he was worried about Stellan being alone at the office.
"A call at this hour can only mean trouble. Just spill it," Cormac, knowing Alaric's ways, said.
"Yeah, there's something. How's Rowena doing now?"
"Rowena's stable. All the indicators are normal, just the usual injections and treatments," Cormac replied bluntly. "Cut the fake concern and get to the point."
"I had a fight with Galatea. She hasn't come back yet, and she's not answering my calls. If I send Silas, it'll be too obvious. After thinking it over, it's best if you go to the office to check if she's still there." "A fight?" Cormac was shocked. "How did you end up fighting with Galatea again? Did you make her cry?"
"No, but it's worse than that."
"Did you hit Galatea?" Cormac stood up angrily and snapped, "Alaric, you used to be a soldier, and now you're using your strength to hit a woman? Are you even human?"
"Cormac, are you nuts? Even if I hit myself, I would never hit Galatea!" Alaric was fuming.
"You scared me. I thought, even if you're not a saint, you wouldn't stoop so low as to hit a woman."
You were the one who wasn't a saint!
Cormac asked, "Then why did you fight?"
Alaric explained the reason for the fight to Cormac, who was also pissed and scolded, "What were you thinking? You basically drove your mother-in-law away! How could Galatea not be mad?" "Cut the sarcasm and get to the company. If Galatea's there, call me right away. And don't tell her I sent you."
"You must've been my debt collector in a past life. My own wife's in the hospital, and I still have to help you find yours."
"Quit whining and go!"
With Rowena in the hospital, Cormac was the only one who could go and talk to her.
Galatea was at the office but couldn't focus on work. She hadn't gotten anything done all day.
She'd called Mia several times, but Mia's phone was off. A whole day had passed with no news, and Stellan couldn't help but tear up.
Mia must've been so heartbroken hearing those words yesterday. She'd joined the Storm family when she was young and had been by her side for so many years.
And now, at her age, with no one to rely on and not much money, where would she go after leaving Arizona? Would she find another family to work as a nanny? What if that family treated her poorly?
As she thought about it, tears fell from Stellan's eyes. Just then, she heard a knock on the door. She quickly wiped her tears, and after doing so, Cormac came in.
"I came to get something and saw your office light was still on. I thought I'd check if you forgot to turn it off. Turns out you're still here?" Cormac lied.
"Alaric sent you, didn't he?" Stellan guessed immediately.
"No, I just came to get something. It's just a coincidence..."
"Coincidence?" Hearing this, Stellan couldn't help but feel sad again and started to mutter, "Why is everything in this world so coincidental? Why did Mia happen to overhear my conversation with Alaric?"
Cormac could fully understand Stellan's emotions because he had also experienced the loss of his family.
Stellan's dependence on Mia was like his own dependence on Aurora during his most desperate times. That person held a different significance in one's life.
"Galatea, I know everything. Don't worry too much; Mia will be found. Alaric can be very infuriating, but don't be mad at him. It's so late; go home. If not for him, then for the three, right?" Stellan looked at the time again. It was indeed late, and the three should be done with their boxing class and go home.
"I understand. Sorry to trouble you."
"No need to be so polite with me. Go home and don't be angry. Next time I see Alaric, I'll punch him for you."
Stellan could only nod perfunctorily and then turned off the lights and left the office.
By this time, the three had returned. Seeing that Stellan wasn't home, they immediately asked, "Where's Mommy?"
"Mommy has to work late at the company. She'll be back soon," Alaric said, looking at them. "You guys are all sweaty. Go take a shower."
"Okay," The three obediently went to shower.
Alaric saw that it was already 9:30 PM, and Stellan still hadn't come back. He knew Cormac wasn't reliable.
Alaric grabbed his car keys, intending to go find her himself. But just as he reached the yard, he saw Stellan's car driving in.
Alaric quickly went to greet her and, as she got out of the car, smiled and asked, "You're back?"
