Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 448 Struggle in the Rain

Nobody, not even Ambrose, saw Alaric's reaction coming. Tommy was especially caught off guard.

Josep's notes clearly said yesterday was treatment day, so how was Alaric this strong today? What was going on?

When Alaric made his move, the reporters went nuts, snapping photos and recording videos like they'd just hit the jackpot.

Ambrose got hit, and if that video got out, it would be an embarrassment for the Vale family.

So Stuart snapped at the reporters, "This has nothing to do with you. Get out! If I see any of this in the news, you all better be ready for payback!"

The reporters, scared out of their wits, quickly bailed.

Once they were gone, the Far East International employees also took off, leaving just Stuart, Ambrose, and Tommy.

"Alaric, we came here in good faith for the funeral, and you beat up Ambrose? Is this how you treat your guests?" Stuart demanded.

"I treat real guests with hospitality, but for people like you with bad intentions, using my fists is already being polite. I haven't even shot you yet," Alaric shot back. "Alaric!" Stuart roared, his face turned livid. "You killed my first son, and now you've laid hands on Ambrose. Do you think I'll let you get away with this?" Cormac tensed up. He knew Stuart had a rough past and loved to fight. Was he planning to throw down now?

"So what does Stuart want? A fight?" Alaric sneered. "Wouldn't that be bullying an old man?"

"Cut the crap!" Stuart had been itching to take out his anger on Alaric. In his mind, Alaric was the enemy, and he wanted him dead to avenge Todd. Stuart threw a punch at Alaric, and Alaric kicked the already downed Ambrose.

"Mr. Vale!" Tommy rushed over to help Ambrose up. Ambrose felt like his arm was about to snap, and his leg was killing him.

Seeing the two about to brawl, Cormac got really nervous. Alaric was still in treatment. What if something happened to him?

Just as Cormac was about to step in, Alaric said, "Step back. This is none of your business."

Since retiring, Alaric hadn't had much of a chance to really let loose. He felt like he was getting rusty, so the chance to fight Stuart and Ambrose was a welcome one. Even though Cormac wanted to help, he stepped aside since Alaric told him to.

Stuart was beyond angry, haunted by the memory of Todd's brutal death. The more he thought about how Todd died without even having a whole body, the more his fury grew. Suppressing his anger for so long, and with Alaric making the first move, he couldn't hold back anymore.

Cormac didn't expect a low-key, secret funeral to turn into such a mess, and now the weather was getting worse, with rain starting to fall.

Even though Stuart had a rough past and knew how to fight, Alaric was younger and a retired special forces soldier. Stuart didn't stand a chance against him.

"Dad!"

After a bit, Alaric had Stuart pinned down. Seeing this, Ambrose quickly and dramatically called out.

"Stuart, calling you dumb isn't wrong. You're all muscle, no brains!"

"Alaric, you murderer, I..."

Before Stuart could finish, Alaric twisted his arm, making him cry out in pain and go completely limp.

"Me? Murderer?" Alaric wasn't about to keep taking the fall for Ambrose. Since these idiots showed up today, he might as well set the record straight.

"Todd kidnapped my wife, and he fought back when I tried to rescue her. Even if I accidentally killed him, I wouldn't be legally responsible. Do you think I'd be dumb enough to burn the body and make myself look more suspicious?" Hearing this, Ambrose got visibly nervous. To convince Stuart, he had even stabbed himself.

"Todd was a useless idiot. His death meant nothing to me. Think about it-who benefited the most?"

This statement practically pointed the finger at Ambrose. Ambrose immediately said, "Alaric, stop slandering me! Dad, he killed Todd and is now trying to stir things up between us. Don't fall for it!"

"Your relationship is already on the rocks, you don't need me to make it worse," Alaric continued. "Stuart, you've been played by Ambrose. He got Todd to kidnap my wife and then tipped me off to rescue her. It's the classic setup where two parties fight, and someone else reaps all the benefits."

"The only thing he didn't count on was that I didn't die. If I had, it would have been the perfect crime. He meticulously killed Todd, and his next target is you," Alaric added.

"You may not believe me, but don't you trust Neil? You can ask around about the cases he's handled. When has he ever been swayed by power?"

After saying this, Alaric disdainfully pushed Stuart away. Stuart stumbled and fell, and Ambrose hurried to help him up. "Dad, are you okay?"

Seeing Ambrose now, Stuart's eyes had clearly changed. He pushed Ambrose away, and Ambrose, startled, quickly explained,

"Dad, please don't believe Alaric. I wouldn't dare harm Todd, not even with ten times the courage!"

"Stuart, I've said all I needed to. It's up to you now. Griffon's funeral isn't over yet, so I won't see you out."

Stuart regretted coming today. He had intended to gloat but ended up getting beaten. However, it wasn't a complete loss.

First Neil, then Alaric.

He couldn't believe Alaric's words, but Neil was known for his toughness in the police force, impervious to any power. How could Alaric be an exception? After the Vale family left, Cormac quickly said to Alaric, "You're soaked. Get in the car!"

Alaric was still in treatment, and he had just fought and gotten wet.

"You shouldn't have come today. Fighting and getting wet-what if Galatea finds out?" Cormac regretted it deeply.
