Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 424 Why Are You With the Bad Guys?
"If you really give a damn about me, then just go kick the bucket. I can't stand your ugly mug anymore," Stellan snapped, then added, "Hit up my assistant about the car damage." After that, Stellan hopped into the car and told the driver to hit the gas.
Once inside, Ambrose's words kept bouncing around in her head. 'Is there actually someone behind Stuart? Could that dude be the one setting up the Storm Family?'
When Stellan got back to the office, Cormac was already there waiting. As soon as he saw her, he asked, "How'd it go? What did they say?"
Stellan shrugged, "Basically nothing."
Cormac thought for a sec and said, "I'll go again tomorrow. Since we've both been there, they should show some respect."
"Hope so," Stellan replied, "By the way, I ran into Ambrose again. He said behind Stuart, there is someone who might be the one framing the Storm Family. Should I tell Neil about this?" Cormac looked a bit shocked. "Ambrose said that? Why would he spill that to you?"
Stellan explained, "He said Stuart wants me and Alaric dead, and the only way to save myself is to divorce Alaric. Ambrose mentioned this before, but there's no way I'm agreeing to that." Cormac thought for a moment and then asked, "Has Neil been in touch with Alaric lately?"
Stellan shook her head, "No idea if they've talked on the phone, but they haven't met up recently."
"The last time I saw him was at Marigold's funeral. He's always been suspicious of you about Marigold's death. He even asked if I lied for you. I denied it, but I don't think he bought it," Cormac said. Stellan sighed, "There were no witnesses, just me and Marigold. She died, so there's no proof. I didn't push her; she fell on her own."
"If that's the truth, you got nothing to worry about. If you want to tell him, just call him. The more you dodge him, the guiltier you'll look," Cormac advised.
Stellan nodded. "Alright, I'll call him later."
After Cormac left, Stellan picked up the phone and called Neil.
Neil sounded surprised, "Stellan, what's up? Why the sudden call?"
Stellan said, "I need to talk. Am I interrupting?"
"No, go ahead," Neil replied.
Stellan told Neil what Ambrose had said. Neil sounded skeptical, "You think he's for real?"
"Yeah," Stellan's gut told her Ambrose wasn't lying.
"Alright, let's figure out how to dig up some dirt on this mastermind," Neil said, then asked, "Is Alaric still in treatment? I've been swamped and haven't checked in on him."
Stellan answered, "Yeah, he's still in treatment and actually cooperating this time."
"It's the final stretch. Hang in there, it'll be over soon," Neil said, "I'll visit him once I wrap up these few things."
Stellan smiled, "Thanks for asking."
Neil replied, "That's all right."
After hanging up, Stellan let out a big sigh of relief. Neil sounded chill, so maybe the whole Marigold mess was finally behind her, right?
She'd spilled everything Ambrose told her to Neil. Now, it was up to the cops to dig into it. For now, she had to get back to work. She pulled out some documents and got cracking on the reports she didn't finish yesterday. After a crazy busy day, just before clocking out, the landline rang. It was the front desk. Linda asked, "Ms. Storm, Tommy's here to see you. What should I tell him?"
Alaric had warned her a million times not to meet Tommy alone. Now that he was here, should she see him or not?
After a moment of hesitation, Stellan told Linda, "Tell him I'm in a meeting and can't see him right now. If he has any issues, he can talk to Silas."
Linda replied, "Got it, Ms. Storm."
Linda passed the message to Tommy. He wasn't surprised. He politely said, "But this is really important. I need to talk to Ms. Storm in person. If she's in a meeting, I'll wait."
Since Tommy used to work there, he knew the place well. He plopped down on the lobby sofa, determined to wait it out until he saw Stellan.
When Stellan heard this, she figured, fine, let him wait. She was genuinely busy and didn't have time for him.
Tommy was still in the lobby when he heard some kids' voices behind him.
"Uncle Tommy!" Caspian, Harry, and Elisa had decided to help Alaric. They got out of school early and had the driver bring them to the office. They didn't expect to see Tommy chilling on the sofa as soon as they walked in.
Tommy was their target, and what a coincidence.
"Caspian, Harry, Elisa." Tommy stood up with a smile when he saw them.
The kids were as enthusiastic as ever..
"Uncle Tommy, we heard you quit," Elisa asked, "Why'd you suddenly leave?"
"That's grown-up stuff. Kids shouldn't worry about it," Tommy said.
"Are you planning to come back? Why else would you be here?" Harry asked.
"I'm working at Far East International now. I'm here to discuss some work stuff with your mom," Tommy explained, "But she's super busy, so I haven't seen her yet."
"Far East International?" Caspian asked sharply, "Isn't that Ambrose's company? With so many choices, why'd you go there?"
Tommy was momentarily speechless, not sure how to answer.
Harry jumped in, "Yeah, Uncle Tommy, you're super smart and studied abroad. You can get a good job anywhere. Why work for a bad guy? Hanging around bad people too long will rub off on you."
Harry's bluntness made things even more awkward. Just then, Stellan stepped out of the elevator. Seeing her, Tommy quickly changed the subject. "Your mom's here."
Stellan knew Tommy was still waiting, but she didn't expect the kids to be there too. She quickly went over and took them by the hand. Tommy noticed this instinctive move.
