Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 422 You're Hurting Your Body by Doing This

Seeing Josep's name pop up, Stellan picked up quick. "Hey, Josep."

Alaric, who was about to crash, cracked an eye open when he heard Josep's name and tuned in.

"Been thinking since I got back to Country M. Can't put all the blame on Alaric for what happened with Tommy. I was too harsh before, and that was uncalled for."

When Alaric canned Tommy for making moves on Stellan, Josep, being Tommy's uncle, lost it.

When he confronted Alaric, he really let him have it. Josep was heated back then, but now, cooled down, he realized he shouldn't have gone off on Alaric, especially since he was the one who asked for Alaric's help in the first place. "Josep, don't worry about it. Alaric feels bad for upsetting you. You saved his life, and we're just grateful. We're really sorry about Tommy." Stellan meant every word.

"Tommy's got a new gig now, so let's drop it. How's Alaric doing with his treatment?" Josep asked.

Stellan sighed, "Better than before, but he's still feeling crappy, weak, and has no appetite."

Josep reassured, "That's to be expected. Don't stress too much. If anything comes up, call me anytime."

Stellan nodded. "Thanks a lot, Josep. You take care too."

After hanging up, Alaric called out, "Galatea."

"What's up?" Stellan hurried back to the bedroom.

"Was that Josep on the phone?" Alaric asked.

"Yeah," Stellan replied.

"What did he say?" Alaric pressed.

"He talked about Tommy, said he felt bad for losing it with you, and asked about your treatment. That's it," Stellan explained.

Alaric thought, 'Did Josep call just for that? Now, all my treatment plans are set by him, with the schedule clearly written in a notebook he gave to Galatea. Tommy was there too.'

Alaric spoke up, "Galatea, change the dates for the treatment injections, all of them."

"Change the dates? Why?" Stellan was shocked and immediately objected, "The fixed weekly dates are the most scientific. Changing them now will mess up the cycle and be bad for your body." Alaric nodded. "I know, but as long as it doesn't mess me up too bad, I can handle it. Galatea, trust me."

"But why?" Stellan was confused. "You're gonna hurt yourself. Changing the dates will shorten the interval between injections, and your body can't take that."

"I've been through worse; I can handle this," Alaric insisted. "Galatea, I have my reasons. Trust me."

Stellan wondered, 'Does he not trust Josep? Or is he wary of Tommy?'

She didn't want to push it, but she was really worried. "I'll do what you want, but I hate seeing you suffer."

Hearing this, Alaric grinned. "I'm tough. I ain't gonna die. Chill out."

How could she not worry?

Stellan sighed. "Alright, I'll change it after dinner and try to make it as reasonable as possible."

Alaric squeezed her hand. "Thanks, babe."

Stellan didn't say anything more, just tucked him in and said, "Get some rest."

"Okay," Alaric murmured, closing his eyes.

Stellan tiptoed out, shutting the door softly behind her. She had zero appetite for dinner. So, she headed to the study, cracked open the notebook, and started figuring out how to tweak the treatment dates without messing him up too much. She was super careful, revising the dates over and over until she was satisfied, burning the midnight oil.

Finally, she nailed down the best plan and went back to the bedroom. Alaric was already out cold. Stellan slipped into bed next to him, feeling how much weight he'd lost. He was so thin now.

"Alaric, don't worry. I'll get you better. You'll bounce back!" She kissed his cheek and then lay down, closing her eyes.

First thing the next morning, they tore off the countdown card, their little ritual.

"Daddy, Mommy." The three kids came in with breakfast. Stellan was surprised. "You guys are up early!"

"Daddy's not feeling great, and Mommy, you're the big boss now, super busy. We gotta take care of you two," Elisa said.

"Yeah, we need to be your rock. Mommy, you eat; we'll feed Daddy," Harry added.

Hearing this, Alaric and Stellan exchanged a proud smile. With these kids, what more could they ask for?

"Go ahead," Alaric told Stellan.

With the kids handling Alaric, Stellan felt at ease and left the room.

The kids got right to it. Elisa fed him while Caspian and Harry helped out.

"Daddy, are you still hurting?" Caspian asked, worried.

"No, just weak. I'll be good after another day of rest," Alaric said, looking at them seriously. "Listen up. When you're at school, you go straight there and back. There's a driver for you. On holidays, you need an adult with you. And stay away from Ambrose and Tommy."

"We know Ambrose is bad, but isn't Uncle Tommy nice? What's wrong with him?" Elisa asked, confused.

"Daddy has his reasons," Harry said. "Let's just do as he said. Don't worry, Daddy. We won't let them near us!"

"Yeah, we'll keep them far away!" Caspian added firmly.
