Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 406 We'll Do Our Best

"I heard Tommy's already started at Far East International, taking over Denny's spot," Cormac blurted out to Alaric as soon as he got the scoop.

"I told you, the guy's no lightweight. Not only did Ambrose snatch him up, but he also managed to get approved by Stuart. Pretty slick, huh?" Alaric scoffed. "The first time we met, he almost had me fooled with that fresh-outta-college, innocent act." Cormac's face scrunched up with worry. "Now that you mention it, he's definitely something. Even though he wasn't at Nexus Innovations for long, he had access to a ton of our confidential stuff. Now that he's jumped ship to Far East International, isn't that gonna mess with us?"

"It won't. Don't give him too much credit. With just a few days at Nexus Innovations, what kind of damage could he do?" Alaric's eyes darkened as he spoke each word slowly, "Besides, I said it before, it's time to make Ambrose sweat a little." "Whatever you need, just say the word," Cormac quickly replied.

"Don't worry, I've got a job for you," Alaric said, "I want you to handle this situation."

"Shoot," Cormac said.

Alaric then laid out his plan. After listening, Cormac nodded. "Got it. I'll take care of it. And you, think about how to calm Stellan down."

Alaric knew that if Stellan got really mad, it wouldn't be easy to smooth things over. So after leaving the office, he actually drove to pick up the kids.

"Dad, aren't you and Mom being a bit too harsh? You've had your alone time for a while now. You always make us stay at school and never let us come home," Elisa complained.

"Exactly," Harry chimed in, "I don't get you adults. If you think kids are such a hassle, why did you have us? They say kids are the fruit of love, but we feel more like obstacles of your love life. It seems you can't wait to get rid of us."

Hearing this, Alaric couldn't help but laugh. "Harry, you've got a way with words," Alaric said, then quickly apologized, "I'm really sorry, guys. Don't worry, I won't make you stay at school anymore. I'll pick you up and drop you off every day." "Dad, are you feeling better now?" Caspian quickly asked, "Didn't something happen at the company a few days ago? How's it going?"

"How did you hear about that at school?" Alaric asked, surprised.

"We're at school, not on another planet. All my classmates know," Harry said, "We were really worried, but you and Mom didn't come to pick us up, so we didn't get a chance to ask."

"Don't worry, it's all sorted out. You just focus on your studies. Leave the grown-up stuff to me," Alaric said.

"Yeah, Dad's so tall and capable, he'll protect us, so we don't need to worry," Elisa said innocently.

"Then won't I be in trouble when I grow up?" Harry groaned, "I'm taller than Caspian. When we grow up, won't I have to protect you all? I don't want that!"

"If you bring up height again, I'm kicking you out of the car!" Caspian snapped.

"Caspian, I knew you couldn't handle losing. I'm taller than you, that's just facts. I'm just stating the truth," Harry said, all chill, "You're a boy, face the problem. You can't dodge it." Caspian threatened, "Say one more word before we get home, and I'll punch you, got it?"

Harry didn't back down. "You're shorter than me. So what? Caspian, come punch me!"

Caspian's fists clenched in anger, and Alaric quickly stepped in, "Alright, you two are still kids. Fighting is pointless. How about I send you both to learn boxing? You can duke it out in the ring."

"Daddy, I think that's a great idea. Send them to learn boxing. They can fight all they want, and once they're skilled, they can protect me when they grow up. With two boxer brothers, I won't have to fear anyone," Elisa said, super pleased with the idea.

"Caspian, Harry, did you hear that? What do you think?" Alaric asked.

"Sure, I'm not scared of him," Harry said first, "I want a proper showdown with him."

"Fine by me," Caspian said, "You better work on taking a punch. I'm afraid you'll cry and quit after a few days."

Harry shot back, "We will find out about that."

"Since it's settled, you two stop arguing. You'll settle it in the boxing ring," Alaric said, "But that's for later. Right now, I have a problem I need your help with." The three asked, "What is it, Daddy?"

Alaric explained, "Your mom and I had a little argument. She's pretty mad at me and kicked me out of the room last night. I need you three to help me make it up to her."

"You two lovebirds actually fight?" Elisa was shocked. "Why do even the best couples fight after getting married? I thought those TV dramas wouldn't happen to you two, but they did. It's so disappointing. Fairy tale love stories don't exist in reality. I won't get married when I grow up. It's not beautiful at all."

Hearing this, Alaric was truly speechless and advised kindly, "Elisa, you're just a kid. Can you stop watching those TV dramas? They don't help you at all."

Elisa shook her head. "No, I should watch them. I need to recognize reality early. From a young age, I need to know that money is more reliable than anything in the world."

Alaric was at a loss for words. "Let's not talk about this now. Your main task is to help me make up with your mom. Don't let her stay mad at me."

"Don't worry, to avoid becoming children of a divorced family, we'll do our best," Harry said.

Alaric was truly exasperated. These three kids were just too mischievous.
