Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 383 Ms. Storm, Be Careful!

'Is that so?'

Alaric was head over heels for her, and she was totally into him too. This kinda mess shouldn't be happening, right?

"I hope I'm just trippin. Ever since Marigold passed, I've been on the edge, like, constantly overthinking," Stellan muttered.

"When someone kicks the bucket right in front of you, it's gonna mess with your head. It's normal; you'll bounce back in a few days," Rowena reassured her.

Stellan nodded.

Rowena hung out with Stellan all afternoon, sipping coffee. As the sun started to set, Stellan suddenly said, "The funeral's probably wrapping up. Alaric should be home tonight. I gotta jet." Rowena replied, "Alright, just don't start another fight."

"I know, I won't," Stellan promised.

After leaving the café, Stellan rummaged through her bag and pockets for her phone, but it was MIA. Did she leave it at the office?

Stellan facepalmed. She'd been so scatterbrained lately, not knowing what she was doing half the time. So, she drove back to the office to grab her phone, only to find Tommy still grinding away at his desk. Didn't he go to the funeral too?

Had it already ended? If so, was Alaric already home?

"Ms. Storm," Tommy greeted her with a nod.

"Why are you back? Is the funeral over?" Stellan asked.

"Not yet," Tommy replied, "Silas remembered some work that needed doing, but he couldn't leave, so I came back."

"So, the funeral's still going?" Stellan asked.

"Yeah," Tommy confirmed.

If the funeral wasn't over, she could chill. Alaric must still be tied up.

"Ms. Storm, you okay? You don't look so hot," Tommy asked, concerned.

"Really?" Stellan quickly touched her face. She hadn't checked herself in the mirror for days. With all the insomnia and anxiety, she must look like a wreck.

"Yeah." Tommy nodded. "Ms. Storm, if you're not feeling well, you should take it easy. Your health comes first; don't overdo it."

"I know," Stellan said to Tommy, "It's past quitting time anyway. Wrap it up and head home."

Tommy nodded. "Alright, Ms. Storm."

Stellan turned to leave, but Tommy suddenly stepped forward and grabbed her arm, making her jump.

"Ms. Storm, you okay? You looked like you were about to keel over," Tommy said.

Stellan was puzzled. "Really?"

"Yeah, I saw you almost take a dive just now. Are you sure you're okay? Need me to take you to the hospital?" Tommy asked. Stellan was baffled. She was a doctor herself; if something was wrong, wouldn't she know?

"No need, I'm fine, thanks," Stellan assured him.

Stellan tried to make a quick exit, but in her rush to prove she was fine, she almost tripped.

Tommy caught her in his arms like he had expected that. "Ms. Storm, watch it!"

Right then, the elevator doors slid open, and out stepped Alaric.

He saw the whole scene-Tommy holding Stellan, with her practically in his arms.

"Mr. Knight," Tommy stammered, looking like a deer in headlights. "Ms. Storm seemed unwell and looked like she was about to faint, so I..."

Alaric didn't let him finish. He walked over and took Stellan from Tommy's arms.

"Alaric," Stellan said, unsure of what to say. Did he get the wrong idea?

"Let's go home," Alaric said, carrying her into the elevator without another word to Tommy.

Since their last blow-up, they hadn't seen each other for days.

Today was Marigold's funeral. Stellan knew Alaric must be in a rough spot, so she kept quiet, letting him carry her to the car. It was just the two of them in the car. "Where are the kids?" Stellan asked.

"I had Cormac take them to his place," Alaric said as he started the car.

He sent the kids to Cormac's place?

"Alright," Stellan said, not pushing for more details.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Alaric asked.

"No," Stellan replied, "Just haven't been sleeping well, maybe a bit of a nervous breakdown."

Alaric said, "Then get more rest. Cormac's handling things at the company, and I'm feeling better now. You don't need to stress about work."

Stellan was taken aback. Was he worried about her running Nexus Innovations because of Marigold's death?

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, Stellan mentally kicked herself. What was she thinking?

Alaric was clearly worried about her health. How could she be so paranoid? Damn it!

"It's okay, I'll be fine after a nap," Stellan quickly said, "You're still recovering, and there are five months to go. Hang in there. Once you're back at Nexus Innovations, I'll step down." Why did that sound so weird? What was she even saying?

Alaric said, "You've been managing the company well. I didn't mean anything by it. Just take care of yourself for the next five months."

Stellan nodded slightly. "Okay."

Stellan wanted to slap herself. What was she doing? Why was she talking without thinking?

When they got home, Alaric told the chef to whip up dinner. He hadn't eaten all day.

After giving the instructions, Alaric collapsed on the couch, looking beat, his eyes bloodshot.

When he was sick, it showed as physical weakness, just discomfort. But now, the mental exhaustion was written all over his face.

"Are you too tired?" Stellan quickly went over to massage his shoulders. "If you're too tired, go rest."

"It's okay," Alaric said, stopping her massage, "Let's eat first. You haven't eaten either, right?"
