Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 371 Am I Still the Way You Like?

Stellan heard this and said, "Chill out, man. Tommy's cool. Josep vouched for him, and we had dinner with him last night. Dude's humble and polite, and even Alaric likes him."

"That's 'cause Alaric doesn't know about that creepy letter you got. If he did, he'd be more paranoid than anyone. I'm not being a worrywart, but we gotta keep an eye on him," Cormac said.

"Alright, alright, Cormac, you're right. We gotta be extra careful right now. Don't sweat it, I won't give him any big jobs. I'll have him tag along with Silas for now, and once we dig up more on him, I'll figure out what's next," Stellan said. "Better safe than sorry," Cormac nodded. "Okay, if that's all, I'm gonna bounce."

"Hold up, Cormac," Stellan called out.

Cormac turned, "What's up?"

"We're done with work talk, let's get personal," Stellan sighed. "Same old story. You've been shacking up with Rowena for a while now, why haven't you made it official? Are you trying to drive us nuts?" Cormac chuckled, "Why's everyone in such a rush?"

"Yeah, everyone but you," Stellan pressed. "Cormac, stop being so stubborn. I get it, you're scared of holding Rowena back. But she's a grown woman. She made her choice after thinking it through. You still dig her, but you're dragging your feet. That's what's really holding her back."

Cormac sighed, "I know, I've heard this a million times."

Stellan said, "Get back together, and I won't bug you about it again."

Cormac rolled his eyes, "Alright, I'll think about it. Just hope this is the last time you nag me."

Stellan smirked, "That's on you, buddy."

Cormac gave a wry smile, "Got it."

As he walked out, Stellan's words echoed in his head. They'd been living together for a while now.

They had the kind of unspoken understanding married couples had. Rowena seemed ready to get back together. So, should he stop being so stubborn?

When he got back to the apartment, it was already dark. Rowena greeted him, "I was just about to call you. Thought you were out socializing since you weren't back yet." "Nope," Cormac said.

"You haven't eaten, right? The food I made is cold now. Hang on, I'll heat it up," Rowena said, heading to the kitchen.

Cormac stopped her, "No need, it's fine as is."

"Come on, it won't take long," Rowena insisted, reheating the food.

After reheating, she brought the dishes to the table. Cormac washed his hands and sat down.

"Dig in," Rowena said, "Aurora was right. Once you get busy, you lose track of time. You're like a kid who needs looking after."

Cormac just smiled awkwardly, one hand always in his pocket, looking a bit nervous and uneasy.

"What are you standing there for? Aren't you hungry yet? Hurry up and eat," Rowena urged again.

Cormac just looked at her. It felt so familiar, just like when they were dating ten years ago.

It was like magic. That feeling had vanished for years, and now it was back.

When they broke up back then, it was brutal for both of them. Cormac was especially crushed. He hated himself for not protecting her and letting her get hurt so badly. He regretted losing her, thinking he'd never find another woman he loved more.

He never dared to imagine they'd reunite one day and have a shot at getting back together. So now that fate had given him this chance, he shouldn't blow it, right?

"This is for you," Cormac finally said, pulling a gift box from his pocket and handing it to Rowena. "Consider it a belated birthday gift."

"A belated birthday gift? For me?" Rowena's eyes lit up.

Cormac nodded, "Yeah, I picked it up at the mall today. Not sure if you'll like it, but I remember you used to dig this style."

Rowena couldn't wait to open the box. Inside was a stunning diamond necklace.

Seeing her open the box, Cormac got all nervous, waiting for her reaction. When Rowena saw the necklace, she couldn't help but smile. Cormac actually remembered the style she liked ten years ago. "I love it," Rowena said, handing the necklace to Cormac. "Put it on for me."

Cormac took it slowly, then stood up and walked behind her, fastening it around her neck.

"How does it look?" Rowena asked after putting it on.

Cormac replied, "It looks amazing, really beautiful."

Rowena pressed, "Is it the way you like it? Like ten years ago?"

Cormac nodded. "Yeah."

Hearing this, Rowena jumped up happily, then leaped into his arms and kissed him passionately. Her enthusiasm left Cormac completely stunned.

Rowena asked, "So now I'm your girlfriend again, right?"

Cormac smiled. "Right."

Seeing Cormac agree, Rowena was over the moon. "You finally agree. I am ready for a long battle with you. If I couldn't win you over in ten years, I am prepared to chase you for another ten." Cormac asked, "Are you nuts? Why make such a decision at the peak of your career?"

"Because none of that matters as much as you," Rowena said honestly. "In the years we were apart, I never forgot you for a single day. But back then, our social statuses were too different, and we couldn't have a future together. So it ended badly. I always thought you would marry a wealthy woman. It hurt to think about it. I admit Richard was a jerk, but I didn't have much right to blame him."

"I knew he didn't love me that much, and neither did I. If I had to marry someone, and it wasn't you, then it didn't matter who it was."

"After reuniting with you and seeing you in such a down-and-out state, my heart bled for you. But you said you were married, so I didn't dare to think too much."

"But later, when I found out from Stellan that you were still single, I was over the moon. I felt that as long as I could be with you, nothing else mattered."
