Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 355 Alaric, Don't Hide Anything from Me.

Stellan was getting all lovey-dovey in front of Alaric, and Alaric was totally digging this softer side of her.

Without a second thought, Alaric scooped Stellan up and carried her into the bedroom, laying her down on the bed.

Like clockwork, Alaric started massaging Stellan's whole body. Stellan looked at him and asked, "Why'd you suddenly buddy up with Neil? You hiding something from me?"

Stellan had been feeling kinda off these past few days, like Alaric was keeping secrets.

"Making friends doesn't need a reason. He came by for some info last time, and we just clicked. Turns out the guy who got me into the unit, Mr. Emberlyn, is someone he really looks up to. We talked about the joint exercises, and it was like we were old pals from the get-go," Alaric explained.

Stellan pressed, "Is that really it? Nothing more?"

"Seriously, nothing else." Alaric smiled, a bit helpless. "I'm just chilling and recovering now, can't even handle the company's stuff. What could I possibly be hiding?"

Fair point.

"Maybe it's 'cause of what happened, I'm super scared, worried something else might go down and I'd lose you." Stellan looked at Alaric intently. "Alaric, whatever you do, you gotta tell me. No secrets." Alaric nodded. "Got it."

He didn't want to keep things from Stellan, but this time he had to. If he didn't, she'd never let him dig into things right now.

"Alright, you had some drinks tonight, so hit the sack early. You gotta be at the company early tomorrow," Alaric said, lying down next to Stellan and pulling her close. "Goodnight, babe." "Goodnight, love," Stellan mumbled, then closed her eyes.

As usual, Stellan slept like a baby in Alaric's arms. When she woke up the next day, Alaric was already up and about. Stellan headed to the dining room, and Alaric had breakfast ready.

"You're still on the mend, it's cool to cook once or twice, but you don't have to do it every day," Stellan said, concerned. "Yes, ma'am," Alaric replied, "Now dig in."

Stellan sat down to eat. After breakfast, as usual, Alaric handed her bag to her, and after a quick kiss, Stellan left the villa.

Once Stellan was gone, Alaric checked the time, hoping Neil's mission was going smoothly.

"Mr. Vale, great news!" Denny burst into Ambrose's office. "The cops have closed the kidnapping case."

Ambrose grinned. "I figured. What could those morons possibly find?"

Denny added, "Mr. Vale, you're always so sharp. Alaric might seem impressive, but next to you, he's nothing." Ambrose just smirked and waved Denny off, who quickly left.

Denny was riding high now. With Todd out of the picture and Ambrose firmly in control, he had a lot of power.

Denny was whistling a tune as he hopped into his car. He had a bunch of markets to check out, but he didn't notice the car tailing him.

When Denny was heading back to his car after wrapping up his market inspections, Neil walked up, flashed his badge, and said, "Mr. Bishop, got a minute? We need to talk."

Denny had never met Neil before, but he knew Neil was the guy handling the case.

Seeing Neil pop up out of nowhere made Denny super cautious and defensive.

"Officer Neil, the case is closed. There's nothing to discuss. As you can see, I'm swamped and don't have time to waste," Denny snapped.

Neil replied, "I get it, Mr. Bishop. And Mr. Vale must be even busier. It's been ages, and I still haven't met him, only his lawyer. He must be really tied up."

Denny caught Neil's drift and knew this wasn't a friendly visit. He shot back, "Like I said, the case is closed. I got nothing to say. I'm busy, don't waste my time."

Denny opened his car door to leave, but Neil was quicker. He slid into the passenger seat and buckled up.

"What the hell are you doing? You trying to strong-arm me? This is illegal, and I can sue you!" Denny barked.

"I just wanna chat, be friends. I'm not gonna hurt you. Why would you sue me?" Neil said coolly. "Drive wherever you want, find a spot to sit down, we'll talk, and then I'll be out of your hair." With Neil already in the car, Denny had no choice but to start the engine and drive out of the underground garage.

"The number you have dialed is currently unavailable."

After a meeting, Ambrose needed to get in touch with Denny. He called, but Denny's phone was off. "Anyone seen Denny today?" Ambrose asked his team.

"Nope, we only saw Mr. Bishop this morning. After that, no clue where he went," they replied.

Ambrose had a sinking feeling. He called again, but still no answer.

Denny was MIA all night. The next day, Ambrose found a resignation email from Denny in his inbox.

[Mr. Vale, I got news that my mom is seriously ill. It was sudden, so I couldn't inform you in time. I'm really sorry and hereby resign. Hope you understand.]

Reading this, Ambrose knew Denny was being controlled. Denny would never quit like this.

If Denny were to resign, he'd do it face-to-face, not through an email. So who had Denny? Was it Alaric?

Ambrose never doubted Denny's loyalty, but if Denny was in Alaric's hands, who knew what he'd spill under pressure.

Denny had been with him for years and knew all his secrets.

So what now? Reporting to the cops would just bring more trouble.
