Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 346 Aunt

Hearing Cormac say this, Alaric couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. He said proudly, "Galatea is certainly capable. Thank you for helping her out for the next six months. After that, I'll return to Nexus Innovations, and Galatea plans to start her own private hospital. Working at Nexus Innovations now is just to gain experience for managing her future hospital."

"Galatea wants to start a private hospital? That's quite ambitious," Cormac said, "Her medical skills are undoubtedly excellent, and with six months of management experience, she'll be even more prepared."

Alaric said, "Yes, Galatea is thinking long-term. She's already planned for Aurora to be her assistant after she graduates."

"Aurora would definitely be happy about that. So, it's settled then; the assistant position is reserved for our Aurora." Speaking of Aurora, Cormac began to boast. "Speaking of Aurora, I have to brag a bit. She has been accepted into high school a year early."

Alaric was surprised. "Early admission? That's impressive."

Cormac replied, "Yes, she's the top student in the city."

Seeing Cormac's smug expression, Alaric couldn't help but tease, "What does Aurora's brilliance have to do with you? You didn't even raise her."

"Doesn't matter," Cormac said with a smug grin. "Aurora's doing great, and she's part of my family now."

Alaric chuckled and remarked, "You really did luck out, finding such a remarkable daughter by chance."

"Yeah, it's been a stroke of luck," Cormac agreed, reflecting on the surreal turn of events. It seemed almost absurd that, after the accident, the families of the two victims ended up relying on each other.

Changing the subject, Alaric asked, "You initially went to find Aurora to investigate Orion's accident, right? Did you find out anything? Was it confirmed to be just an accident?"

Alaric had always thought the timing of Orion's accident was suspiciously convenient, but he couldn't fathom who would have a motive to harm Orion.

Cormac's expression grew serious as he responded, "I've always had this gut feeling that Orion's accident wasn't just a random mishap. I looked into Aurora's family background. Matthew, her father, was a late-stage cancer patient and a truck driver. By the time of the accident, he was far past the point where he should have been driving, but he wanted to make some extra money for Aurora before he passed away.

"That night, after a full day on the road, Matthew still went out to drive. Fatigue was definitely a factor, and he was on medication. Meanwhile, Orion was speeding, rushing to the hospital.

"Two drivers in such a state were bound to have an accident. Their collision, resulting in both of their deaths, seems like it could be chalked up to bad luck. But it doesn't feel that simple to me. Besides you, I can't think of anyone else who might have had a reason to harm Orion."

Alaric, bewildered, responded, "You're not still suspecting me, are you? I'd stake my entire family's lives on it-Orion's death has nothing to do with me."

"I know," Cormac shot back. "If I still had doubts about you, do you think I'd be working with you at Nexus Innovations?"

"Fair point." Noticing Cormac's sudden shift in mood, Alaric quickly changed the subject. "Let's not dwell on the past. Focus on your brilliant Aurora. How do you plan to reward her?"

"Thanks to a special approval from your missus, I'm taking some time off. Before school starts, I'm planning to take Aurora abroad with Rowena."

"Have you and Rowena patched things up?"

"Don't be ridiculous, not yet."

"Planning a trip abroad with your family of three, and you call that 'not patched up'?"

"What family of three? Stop making stuff up."

Alaric smiled knowingly and suddenly thought of something. "Since you're taking Aurora on a trip abroad, would you mind if my Caspian, Harry, and Elisa tagged along?" "Hmm?" Cormac was momentarily taken aback.

"These three have spent their entire vacation taking care of me. They haven't even stepped out of the door, let alone traveled. I want them to have some fun too. Galatea's so busy with work, and in my current state, I can't do much. It would be great if you could take them along on your trip. Rest assured, my Caspian, Harry, and Elisa are smart, obedient, and won't cause any trouble."

"I don't mind taking them at all. I'm sure Rowena and Aurora would be thrilled. As long as you and Galatea are comfortable with it."

"I have no worries leaving them with you," Alaric said. "Taking Caspian, Harry, and Elisa out to play will also give me some peace and quiet to look up some information."

"What information? Aren't you leaving the company matters to Galatea? Why are you still worrying about stuff?"

"It's not about the company," Alaric clarified. "It's about the Storm Family. I've been too busy and distracted to look into it before, but now that I have half a year off, I can finally get to the bottom of it. Otherwise, I'll really feel like a useless person."

"The Storm Family?" Cormac knew about the matter. "From what I've seen of Galatea and how much she loved and respected her father, he doesn't seem like a bad person. And the way the Storm Family's issues came out all at once, with Brennan's apparent suicide, it does seem like there might be more to it than meets the eye. That's why it must be investigated!"

"But it's been so many years. It'll be tough to reopen the case."

"The harder it is, the more I want to do it," Alaric said determinedly. "Anyway, don't worry about that. Think about your trip abroad. Don't forget about my Caspian, Harry, and Elisa when you're busy dating with Rowena." "Alaric, I swear I'll hit you!"

"In my current state, you're not even sure you can beat me. Save your energy." Alaric then called out to Caspian, Harry, and Elisa. "Come here, kids."

The three of them ran over immediately. Alaric explained, "Cormac and Rowena are taking Aurora on a trip abroad, and I was thinking you three could go with them. Would you like that?"

"Are my uncle and aunt really taking Aurora on an overseas trip?" Harry asked, his face lighting up with excitement.

"What do you mean, 'aunt'? Why are you spouting nonsense like your father?" Cormac chided immediately.

"Well, if you're going abroad with her, isn't she basically our aunt now?" Elisa shot back. "Uncle, why do you insist on picking up my father's bad habits? You should be learning from his good qualities instead. Why do you have to get tangled up with girls and never actually commit? It's just plain old bad behavior!"
