Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 325 The Hardest Ones to Get Are the Best

Upon hearing that Rowena had arrived, Cormac suddenly felt an uncomfortable restlessness, as if he were sitting on pins and needles. He wanted to get up and leave, but doing so would be very impolite. However, Cormac anticipated that if he were to sit down and eat with Rowena, the already awkward atmosphere would escalate to its peak, making it nearly impossible to enjoy the meal. So Cormac was in a bit of a dilemma.

"Rowena, you're here?" Stellan greeted her warmly upon her arrival. She then quickly instructed Mia, "Mia, bring another set of utensils." "Okay, Stellan."

"No need, Stellan. I just had some free time today and wanted to drop by. I won't stay for dinner; I'll leave in a bit," Rowena said.

"You're already here. Why leave?" Stellan quickly seated Rowena, saying, "I know you celebrities are disciplined about your diet, but you're already so thin. No need to skip dinner to lose weight. Take a seat." Stellan even specifically arranged for Rowena to sit opposite Cormac. Since the act had gone this far, Rowena calmly sat down and said, "Alright, I'll listen to you."

"That's more like it. We're best friends now. How could I let you leave without sharing a meal when you've come to visit me?" Stellan said.

Rowena just smiled.

After that, Cormac kept his head down, eating, completely avoiding eye contact. Stellan kept giving Rowena meaningful looks, while Aurora, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were all anxiously watching.

In such an atmosphere, Rowena really didn't know how to take the initiative, so she could only chat idly with Stellan. "Stellan, how is Alaric doing now?"

"He's still the same, just hasn't woken up yet, but it's only a matter of time," Stellan said.

"Glad to hear that," Rowena replied.

"And you? Have you been busy with work lately?" Stellan asked pointedly.

"No, ever since the last incident, all my engagements have been canceled. I'm just resting now, and I don't know when I'll start working again," Rowena said.

"That's good too. You had such a packed schedule before, always so tired. You can take this time to rest well," Stellan voiced.

"Yeah."

"Cormac, aren't you on vacation too?" Aurora asked deliberately.

Cormac was trying to be invisible, but Aurora just deliberately talked to him at that moment.

"Yes," Cormac had to answer truthfully.

"So you two are on vacation at the same time. What a coincidence!" Aurora added.

"Exactly, isn't this fate?" Elisa chimed in, "I see on TV that the main characters always say it's fate."

"Right, it's fate. Uncle Cormac, since you two are so destined, you could be friends with Rowena. You could even go out together during the vacation," Harry said deliberately. "No need to be friends; they already know each other, and they are..." Aurora said.

"Aurora." Knowing Aurora was about to say something embarrassing, Cormac immediately interrupted her, giving her a sharp look as a reminder.

Aurora quickly covered her mouth and lowered her head to eat.

After that, Cormac completely stopped talking, just wanting to finish his meal and leave as soon as possible.

"Aurora, you have an online class tonight. You need to leave soon," Cormac said to Aurora before anyone else had finished eating.

"I don't have an online class, Uncle Cormac. Did you get it wrong?"

"You do!" Cormac reminded Aurora with a sharp look.

Aurora had to quickly change her tune. "Oh, right, I remember now. I do."

Seeing Aurora compromise, Rowena quickly gave her a look, and Aurora immediately took the hit, saying, "Uncle Cormac, I suddenly have a stomachache. I need to go to the bathroom. I'll go home after that." Aurora then rushed to the bathroom, leaving Cormac no choice but to wait.

By the time everyone had finished eating, Aurora still hadn't come out. After the meal, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa said, "We need to go check on Dad."

With that, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa ran upstairs, and Stellan quickly said, "I'll go check too."

Once Stellan ascended the stairs, only Cormac and Rowena remained in the living room. Cormac knew very well that these people were doing this on purpose.

He regretted agreeing to stay for dinner.

"I'll go check on Aurora," Cormac said, turning to leave. But Rowena quickly called out to him, "Cormac!"

Cormac had to stop, taking a deep breath in frustration, and turned to her. "What is it?"

"I have something to say," Rowena said directly.

"What is it?" Cormac asked.

"Can you stop deliberately avoiding me?" Rowena said straightforwardly.

Her question made Cormac even more embarrassed, but he could only be honest. "I'm not deliberately avoiding you. I said last time that our relationship is special. You're a public figure now, and if we're seen together, the media will blow it out of proportion, causing unnecessary trouble for both of us. So it's better to avoid such trouble in advance."

Rowena replied, "If it were before, I would definitely be cautious and hesitant, but I'm not the same Rowena I used to be. Those harsh words and baseless insults can't hurt me anymore.

I'm a public figure, but I don't live for them. I'm not anyone's puppet. I won't distance myself from someone just because they tell me to, or do things just to please the audience.

You can't live your life trying to please everyone, making everyone like you. Since no matter what I do, there will always be people who don't like it, why can't I just be myself?

This is who I am. I show my true self on screen. If people like it, that's good. If they don't, it doesn't matter since I can't change it. But I can change myself. I want to do exactly what I feel like doing right now." Hearing Rowena say this, Cormac felt quite gratified. He said, "I'm glad you've grown this much. And, I admit you're right. But to avoid handing others unnecessary leverage, it's wise to sidestep preventable troubles.." With that, Cormac was about to leave again, but Rowena quickly said, "What if I don't want to avoid this trouble?"

'What does she mean by not wanting to avoid this trouble?' Cormac wondered.

Rowena continued, "Cormac, like the kids said, meeting again after ten years is fate. We missed out before, and now..."

"Miss Blaire, you've drunk too much," Cormac said.

Rowena had had a little wine with Stellan tonight, but it was just a small glass, not enough to affect her.

"I haven't had too much. I'm very clear-headed," she replied.

"You've definitely had too much. Let's talk when you're sober." With that, Cormac quickened his pace and knocked on the bathroom door, saying to Aurora inside, "Aurora, I'll wait for you in the car." Cormac swiftly exited the room, leaving Aurora in the bathroom with no choice but to come out.

Aurora looked at Rowena, pouted in frustration, and then encouraged her, "Rowena, don't give up. Keep going. The hardest ones to get are the best!"

Hearing this, Rowena couldn't help but smile.
