Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 313 She Wouldn't Let Any of the Masterminds Off the Hook
Marigold kept calling Alaric, but his phone was always off. Her growing sense of foreboding intensified. Where on earth had he gone? "Mrs. Knight, should we call the police?" Joe suggested, seeing how anxious Mrs. Knight was.
However, as soon as Joe finished speaking, Marigold snapped back, "What the hell were you thinking? That's a lousy idea! I conspired with Ambrose to have him kidnap Stellan. If I call the police now, wouldn't I be walking right into a trap?" Marigold was furious. She couldn't find Alaric, and Ambrose wasn't in touch. She wanted to know how far things had escalated, yet Ambrose hadn't responded at all.
"What are you doing?" At that moment, a servant's anxious voice came from the yard. Marigold looked outside and saw Stuart storming in, unstoppable despite the servants' attempts to block him. "You're trespassing! If you keep forcing your way in, I will..."
"Get out of my way!" Stuart, in a fit of rage, violently knocked down anyone who tried to stop him.
Joe hurriedly stood in front of Marigold. By now, Stuart had barged into the hall, looking ready to settle scores.
"Where's Alaric?" Stuart demanded angrily. "Get him out here!"
Stuart's aggressive stance scared Marigold. Joe nervously stepped forward and asked, "Who are you, and what do you want with Mr. Knight?"
"I'm Stuart. Alaric killed my son. A life for a life." Stuart then started to act tough. "I don't have much patience. Get him out here now, or you all will suffer!"
This was too much for Marigold to handle. Seeing her almost unable to stand, Joe quickly went to support her.
"Alaric killed your son?" Marigold, slowly calming down, spoke forcefully. "Stop making baseless accusations. Alaric wouldn't do such a thing."
"I don't have time for your bullshit. Search the entire villa. Search high and low, and we must find Alaric!" Stuart, grieving for his son Todd, was now bent on revenge. At his command, his men began searching the villa. "No regard for the law? Just storming into my home?" Marigold scolded.
Stuart remained silent, standing there with a menacing look. He wouldn't leave without avenging Todd.
"Mr. Vale, we've searched the villa. Alaric is not here," Stuart's henchman said.
"Not here?" Stuart's eyes grew even fiercer. He then looked at Marigold and ordered his men, "Then, take this woman. With his mother in my hands, I don't believe he won't show up."
"How dare you!" Marigold immediately retorted. "If Alaric finds out, none of you will live!"
The more Marigold spoke, the angrier Stuart became. He signaled his men to act. Marigold instinctively took a few steps back in fear.
Just as Stuart's men were about to act, one of them whispered in his ear, "Mr. Vale, the police are here."
When Stuart heard this, his expression changed again. After all, he had just arrived in Arizona, and with Todd's recent death, the police were already involved. "Humph, you got lucky today! Tell Alaric it isn't over until he pays with his life." With that, Stuart left with his men.
After Stuart left, Joe quickly helped Marigold to a seat. They were both so scared their legs felt weak.
"What happened? Who died? Why did Stuart come?" Marigold's mind was in a mess, and her fear grew stronger.
After speaking, Marigold tried calling Alaric again, but his phone was still off.
"Why is his phone always off? Did something happen to Alaric too?" Marigold was now so anxious she couldn't sit still.
"Why not call Stellan?" Joe suggested. "Stuart Vale making trouble just now means Mr. Knight might have rescued Stellan. They could be together." Alaric rescued Stellan? If so, Marigold would regret it. She had gone to great lengths to get rid of Stellan.
If, in the end, Stellan wasn't gone and Alaric got into trouble instead, wasn't it a boomerang effect?
Unable to find Alaric, Marigold was extremely anxious, but she really didn't want to call Stellan.
"Mrs. Knight, just call her. If you act nonchalant, she won't suspect you," Joe urged.
When the phone rang, Stellan was still anxiously watching the "In Surgery" sign. Hearing the sound, she glanced down.
Stellan had never hated anyone as much as she hated Marigold at that moment. Although she had no evidence, Stellan was sure Marigold had ratted her out to the Vale Family. Marigold had almost gotten her raped and had put Alaric's life in danger. Stellan had always thought that no matter how much she and Marigold didn't get along, Marigold was still Alaric's biological mother. For Alaric's sake, she had tolerated as much as she could.
Stellan hadn't expected that her concession would only make Marigold more aggressive! If only she had been harmed, she could have endured it again. However, Marigold had caused such severe consequences. Stellan thought if she tolerated it any longer, she would be betraying herself.
For this incident, Stellan wouldn't let any of the masterminds off the hook!
At that moment, the surgery room door opened. Stellan quickly rejected the phone and ran over, anxiously asking, "How is he, Josep?"
"We managed to save him, but I don't know when he will wake up."
Hearing this, Stellan finally felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. She was so overjoyed that she hugged Josep without any regard for her image, crying tears of joy. "Josep, you're my savior. Thank you; thank you so much!" "Alright, Galatea, Josep rushed back overnight and worked in the surgery room for so long. He must be exhausted. Let him rest," Cormac said.
"Alright, Josep, please go rest. Thank you so much."
After that, Cormac took Josep to rest, and Alaric was moved to a regular ward. Stellan stayed by his bedside.
Holding Alaric's hand, Stellan couldn't stop crying. She was so scared. The past nearly thirty hours had been terrifying. She couldn't imagine what she would do if Alaric had died.
