Chapter 258 Once It Was Missed, It Was Gone for Good

Alaric and Stellan conducted research prior to their meeting with Richard and Rowena. However, the research involved watching Richard and Rowena's films and listening to their songs, but overlooked their personal lives. Hearing Richard say this, Stellan was genuinely shocked. Seeing Stellan's surprise, Richard jokingly asked, "What? Don't we look like a couple?"

As Richard asked this, he deliberately moved closer to Rowena.

Stellan gave an awkward smile and quickly explained, "Well, I simply didn't consider it.. I thought you were just friends, but it turns out you're a couple."

Stellan wanted to ask Rowena about Cormac, but since she was with Richard, it seemed unnecessary to inquire if she was Cormac's ex.

The conversation during the meal was tedious. Richard kept flattering Alaric, while Stellan chatted casually with Rowena.

Finally, the dinner ended around ten o'clock. Once in the car, Stellan couldn't hold back and started ranting. "I thought they just found a male star and a female star who might or might not know each other. I didn't expect them to be a couple. Rowena is actually dating that Richard?!"

"I didn't expect it either," Alaric said

"I really have a great impression of Rowena, and her singing is so good. I really want to be her fan. But that Richard is so disgusting and fake. He's just a bit handsome; how does he have so many fans?" Stellan continued.

"Richard's skills are indeed not high, and he's very opportunistic," Alaric said.

"Exactly. If Rowena is really the girl Cormac has been pining for, her current taste is really off. Richard is far worse than Cormac!" Stellan was inexplicably angry.

"Let's hope Rowena isn't Cormac's girl." Alaric said, almost concluding, "Rowena probably isn't. Cormac's girl dated Cormac for so many years; Cormac should have mentioned me to her. Even though we haven't met, she wouldn't be so unfamiliar upon meeting."

"Not necessarily," Stellan immediately refuted. "If she is that Rowena, and you're Cormac's friend, she wouldn't acknowledge you in front of her current boyfriend."

"That makes sense," Alaric said, genuinely puzzled. "You girls are really hard to understand."

Stellan, already in a bad mood, snapped, "Why are you generalizing all girls? Do you want a beating? Just drive!"

Alaric could only give a helpless smile and continue driving obediently.

Meanwhile, Richard, who had just left the club, was beaming with pride.

He said, "They say Alaric is so aloof and hard to approach, but he was very friendly during our dinner. After all, we're both top stars now. Even Alaric has to give us some face." Rowena didn't respond, only giving a perfunctory acknowledgment.

"What's wrong, Rowena? You seemed distracted during dinner."

"Probably just too tired," Rowena said slowly. "After the concert yesterday, I didn't have time to adjust my jet lag and flew straight back to the entertainment city."

"Yes, you've been too busy lately. You're really exhausted," Richard said, massaging her shoulders. "Go back to the hotel and get some rest."

"Okay," Rowena replied lazily, leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes.

Back at the hotel, Rowena was physically and mentally exhausted but couldn't sleep. She went into the bathroom and soaked in the tub. She was surprised to see Cormac again as their past was vivid in her mind. Cormac had always treated her kindly and never done her wrong. Following Griffon's injury, she keenly perceived the disparity in backgrounds between her and Cormac, and lost the courage to love him again.

Thinking back to the day they broke up, Rowena still felt heartbroken. It took her years to slowly come out of that shadow.

Rowena often wondered what would have happened if she had been braver and stayed with Cormac. But alas, there were no 'what ifs' in this world; once it was missed, it was gone for good.

Today, she first reunited with Cormac and then had dinner with Alaric. Neither Cormac nor Alaric mentioned each other. Had they really fallen out?

Rowena's mind was a mess, filled with random thoughts. The water in the tub had turned cold, but she didn't move.

Richard was elated tonight after a wonderful conversation with Alaric, sensing positive opportunities ahead.

After dropping Rowena off at the hotel, he went to a bar with some staff to celebrate.

"Richard, you asked me to look into Cormac, and I found something big!" The manager hadn't thought much of Cormac, assuming he was just an ordinary person trying to make connections. However, he found something unexpected and told Richard.

"Ex-boyfriend!" Richard was shocked. "Cormac is Rowena's ex-boyfriend?"

"Yes, he used to be a rich young master, but now he's fallen on hard times. The Nash family went bankrupt, and he's working as a laborer at a dock, living in poverty," the manager replied.

Hearing this, Richard seemed to realize something. "He's Rowena's ex-boyfriend and now so destitute. He must have some ulterior motive for approaching Rowena."

"Now that you and Miss Rowena are back in the country, you can't afford to have any scandals," the manager said.

"Don't worry. He has no power or influence now. What can he do?" Richard said, downing another drink. With a sinister smile, he added, "A man so down and out still dreaming of getting back with Rowena? Deram on. I'll make sure Rowena sees his true colors."
