Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 247 Ambrose Still
Derek's cautious reaction gave Stellan a glimmer of hope. Did he know something?
"Ms. Storm, do you want to know about the Storm family back then?" Derek asked directly.
"Yes," Stellan replied nervously. "Mr. Ronald, do you know anything?"
Derek frowned deeply.
Stellan pleaded, "Mr. Ronald, if you know anything, please tell me. I promise to keep it a secret. No one will know it was you who told me. I won't get you involved."
Derek sighed, "To be honest, Mrs. Stellan has always treated me well. I'm sorry for what happened to the Storm family. I'm not afraid of getting involved; it's just that I really don't know." Stellan's hope faded with Derek's last sentence.
Seeing her disappointment, Derek sighed and handed her a glass of water. "Ms. Storm, where did you come from?"
"From Arizona."
"Are you still in Arizona?"
Derek thought she would have left Arizona, just like he did after the Storm family went bankrupt.
"My home is there. How could I leave?" Stellan said sadly. "It's my fault for realizing it too late. It's been seven years, and I just started investigating."
Derek sighed again. "Mr. Storm was such a good guy. It's really unfair."
Stellan was surprised. "Mr. Ronald, do you also believe the Storm family was wronged?"
"Of course. I worked with Mr. Storm for five years. I know what kind of person he was. He wouldn't do those illegal things."
Stellan felt warm and grateful. "Thank you."
"I'm just telling the truth, Ms. Storm. You don't need to thank me. Honestly, I'm just an ordinary person. Even knowing the Storm family was framed, I couldn't do anything." Stellan pressed on. "Mr. Ronald, do you really not know anything? Even a small detail before the incident?"
Derek continued, "Before the incident, everything seemed normal. The company was operating as usual. Then suddenly, one day, there was a report about serious quality issues with our food products. An investigation team came and ordered the company to stop all operations."
"They checked the food quality in the workshop, and over sixty percent of the products on the production line were found to be substandard. They immediately shut down the company for a full investigation. After that, things happened so quickly that no one could react."
"After the full investigation, they listed all the company's problems, and Mr. Storm was taken away. Once Mr. Storm was arrested, the company naturally fell apart. That's when I was forced to leave."
When the incident happened, Stellan was abroad. By the time she returned, everything had already ended.
For what Derek just said, she already knew. It was all useless information to her at this point.
Stellan pleaded, "Mr. Ronald, I know I'm being presumptuous, but after so many years, you're the only important employee from the Storm Group I could find. Could you please think carefully again, even a small detail?" "Okay, let me think, let me think."
Derek was very cooperative, trying hard to recall something. After a while, his eyes suddenly lit up as if he had thought of something.
"Right, I just remembered someone who definitely knows."
"Who?" Stellan asked eagerly.
"Ambrose."
Stellan felt deflated. She didn't want to turn to Ambrose, which was why she came to Derek. It seemed she was back to square one.
"Speaking of anomalies, now that I think about it, it's Ambrose," Derek said, recalling. "Just a few days before the Storm family's incident, Ambrose suddenly submitted his resignation. At that time, Mr. Storm said he wasn't feeling well and hadn't been at the company for days. The resignation wasn't processed, and not many people knew about it."
"I was shocked. Ambrose was your boyfriend. The entire Storm Group would be his in the future. Why would he resign? Did he break up with you, Ms. Storm? But Ambrose denied it. He said he was under too much pressure and didn't want people to say he relied on a woman."
Derek continued, "Ambrose also said you were studying business management. The Storm Group would still be yours, and he wanted to start his own business and become your partner. I admired him for that. After that, he never came back to the company. During that time, Mr. Storm also didn't come to the company, and then the incident happened."
"After I was forced to leave, I was always worried about Mr. Storm. I heard he was released on bail, and I wanted to visit him but never got the chance. I went to the company to take one last look before leaving. Oh, right, on the night Mr. Storm fell, I did see Ambrose."
"I went to the company to take a look, and Ambrose did too. We didn't talk much, and then he left. As I recall, Ambrose definitely hid something. He must know something."
Ambrose had said he had important evidence, too. Since Ambrose dared to present the evidence, it must have nothing to do with him. So what role did Ambrose play? Did Stellan really have to do as Ambrose said and become his woman for him to talk? Thinking of this, Stellan couldn't help but curse.
"I understand. Thank you so much, Mr. Ronald, for telling me all this," Stellan said gratefully.
Derek sighed, "Ms. Storm, please don't say that. I'm very sorry that I didn't really help much."
"No, this is enough for me. Thank you very much. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, Mr. Ronald. I'll take my leave now."
After leaving Derek's office, Stellan's expression was very serious. She didn't leave with nothing useful, but it was close.
"How did it go?" Alaric asked as soon as he saw Stellan come out. Seeing her dejected expression, he guessed the result and quickly comforted her, "It is no big deal. After all, it's been seven years. It's not easy to investigate. It's normal to hit some roadblocks. It's okay, we'll try another direction and slowly investigate. We'll eventually..."
Before Alaric could finish, Stellan kissed him.
Stellan was indeed very dejected about coming up empty-handed and frustrated about not being able to avoid Ambrose. But hearing Alaric's comforting words, she couldn't hold back. She felt an indescribable sense of gratitude and love for him.
