Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 241 Talking Bad About You Behind Your Back
Just before Alaric and Stellan got back, Marigold had just seen the last names on Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's birth certificates, and she was furious.
Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were all in the study on the second floor, so they couldn't hear Marigold ranting to Joe.
"Three kids with three different last names; I can't believe it." Harry and Elisa had finally returned to the Knight family, but they didn't even have the last name Knight; they took Stellan's last name instead?
Marigold sneered, "Who thought this was a good idea? Two kids with Stellan's last name, and one with a fake one. Is she trying to provoke me?"
Marigold was all about family bloodline and heritage. Seeing Harry with the last name Storm and Elisa with the last name Hartley made her furious.
Joe tried to calm her down. "Mrs. Knight, please don't be angry. Even without the last name Knight, Mr. Storm and Miss Hartley are still part of the Knight family bloodline. That's undeniable."
Marigold snorted, "You think it's undeniable, but do outsiders? When they see these last names, they'll think they're not part of the Knights. Our family has noble blood, yet Harry and Elisa don't have the last name Knight. It's ridiculous!" These names made Marigold uncontrollably angry. She blamed Stellan and never considered it might have been Alaric's idea.
Just then, Alaric walked in holding Stellan's hand. Marigold's face darkened.
"Mr. Knight, Mrs. Knight." Joe greeted them respectfully. Then he reminded Marigold, "Mrs. Knight, Mr. Knight and Mrs. Stellan Knight are back."
Marigold was fuming inside, but since they were in the Knight mansion and the kids were upstairs, she had to hold back.
"You're back." Marigold forced a smile. "I saw you were busy, so I came to check on the kids."
"Daddy, Mommy, you're finally back!" Caspian, Harry, and Elisa ran downstairs excitedly when they heard their parents were home.
Caspian and Harry rushed to Stellan, while Elisa ran straight to Alaric, who picked her up.
"Daddy, you haven't been back for two days. Don't you miss me?" Elisa asked, pouting.
"Of course, I miss you." Alaric kissed her cheeks and said, "From today on, I'll come home every night to be with you."
Elisa cheered, "Yeah!"
"Have you guys been good at home?" Stellan asked.
Caspian quickly replied, "Of course. Don't worry, Mommy. You can focus on your career; we're all well-behaved."
Stellan smiled. "That's good."
"Now that my mommy is back, shouldn't you keep your promise?" Harry looked at Marigold and said.
Everyone was stunned. What promise?
Marigold had said she would apologize to Stellan to get the kids to accept her as their grandmother, but would she really do it? In front of so many people, wouldn't that be humiliating? "What promise?" Alaric asked.
"She said she would apologize to you, and only then would we accept her as our grandmother," Harry explained.
Stellan was shocked. She didn't expect Marigold to actually mean what she said this morning.
"Harry, don't be disrespectful," Stellan scolded.
Harry pouted, "I don't want to be disrespectful, but she's been badmouthing you, saying you're a bad woman and telling me not to accept you."
He was telling the truth, not lying.
Marigold denied it. "Harry, you can't slander me like that. I never said that."
"It's outrageous for you to deny it. Are you saying I'm lying? You clearly said my mommy is a bad woman who ran off with another man right after giving birth to me and never took care of me. She is a..." "Harry, don't talk nonsense! I never said that to you!" Marigold interrupted, feeling guilty.
Harry insisted, "You did say it. I heard it clearly."
"I never said that to you. Don't make false accusations." Marigold was really anxious. Kids spoke the truth, and she was afraid Harry would say more.
Harry repeated, "You did say it."
"I didn't!"
"If you didn't say it to me, who did you say it to?"
"I said it to Caspian, not to you..." Marigold suddenly wanted to slap herself. How was she telling the truth?
"See, you did say it. I didn't wrong you, did I?" Harry shrugged innocently. "You badmouthed my mommy behind her back. Isn't it fair to ask you to apologize to her?"
"Mom, how could you say such things to a child?" Alaric was also enraged.
Marigold, already full of anger, now felt awkward. "I misspoke, okay? No need to make a big deal out of a slip of the tongue."
"It's okay. Didn't we clear things up this morning? Let's just forget about the past. No need to apologize," Stellan said. Then she turned to Marigold. "You said it yourself this morning that we don't get along. For the sake of family harmony, we should see each other less. How about that? Caspian, Harry, and Elisa will stay with you on Friday and Saturday nights, and we'll pick them up on Sunday. Is that okay?"
Did that mean they should avoid each other as much as possible?
"Fine, that's okay," Marigold agreed. "I'll pick them up from school on Friday, and they'll stay with me for two days. I'll have the driver bring them back on Sunday." Stellan nodded. "Okay."
Caspian, Harry, and Elisa all looked reluctant. Stellan then said to them, "Kids, be good, okay? Just stay there for two days a week, alright?"
"Fine," Harry said reluctantly. "We should be considerate and give you two some alone time. We'll sacrifice ourselves for the family. No need to thank us."
Stellan and Alaric both smiled helplessly.
After that, Stellan implied that Marigold should leave. Marigold had no choice but to go, and she was almost furious.
Marigold fumed, "What does Stellan mean just now? Does she think she's the mistress of the Knight family now? Does she think she can order me? With Alaric backing her up, she's become so arrogant!"
