Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 237 Concession
Marigold and Joe were echoing each other, and Marigold pretended to sob, looking really sorrowful.
Alaric sighed, "Kids are the purest. If they're against you, Mom, have you thought about why?" he asked.
Marigold sobbed, "The kids said if I don't apologize to Stellan and accept her, they'll never acknowledge me. What can I do?" "They mean everything to me now. If they don't accept me and never see me again, it's like killing me."
Alaric and Stellan finally believed Marigold. She valued family ties and doted on her grandchildren.
If the triplets didn't accept Marigold and never saw her again, it would be more painful than death for her.
Marigold added, "Honestly, I can't accept Stellan, but the kids are forcing me. I have no choice."
"Joe kept persuading me last night, and I figured it out. For my grandchildren's sake, I won't oppose your marriage anymore."
"I just hope, Stellan, that you can consider me their grandmother and let bygones be bygones. Let the kids accept me, or I can't go on."
Alaric and Stellan exchanged glances, surprised by Marigold's sudden change of mind.
Alaric said, "Last time I brought Stellan home, you reacted so strongly, said harsh things, and even wanted to cut ties with me. How come in just two days, you've changed your mind?"
"Mom, such a big change is hard to believe. I'm your son; I know your temper and character. You'd never make concessions unless you had some ulterior motive."
Alaric really understood Marigold. When he said this, Marigold felt restless.
But she pretended to be heartbroken and said, "I'm your mother. Do you really think I'm that vicious? What ulterior motive could I have?"
"Alaric, raising a dog would be easier than raising you. A dog shows gratitude, but you always suspect and hurt me. Do you still see me as your mother?"
Alaric was about to say something when Stellan quickly tugged at his clothes, signaling him to stop. If he continued, Marigold might start crying.
Joe said, "Mr. Knight, your words really hurt Mrs. Knight. No matter how heartless she is, she has vulnerabilities, which are those kids."
Joe continued, "If they don't accept Mrs. Knight, what should she do? She's doing all this for the kids."
"Yes, for the kids, I can make any concession," Marigold said to Stellan. "Stellan, although I don't like you, I'm willing to accept you. Anyway, you two are already married and announced it. Even if I threaten you with my life, it's useless."
"You two can live in the Knight mansion. I won't bother you unless necessary. We don't get along, so we won't see each other. But I need to see the kids regularly."
Marigold added, "If you agree, let's move on. If you agree to let the kids visit me regularly, then take these flowers I brought for the Reassuring Clinic's opening."
If Stellan agreed to Marigold's terms, she would take the flowers from Marigold's hands?
Stellan wanted Marigold to accept her. This seemed like the best outcome. But as Alaric said, Marigold's sudden change of attitude made Stellan uneasy, unsure of her true intentions.
Stellan looked uncertainly at Alaric, while Marigold quickly said, "You don't need to look at him. It's up to you. If you don't accept, our relationship stays strained."
"Or we can compromise. We don't need to see each other unless necessary, but you must let me see the kids."
This was Marigold's way of pressuring Stellan. Whether sincere or not, Marigold showed she was willing to compromise. If Stellan didn't, the worsening relationship would be entirely her fault.
"If you're serious, I'm willing to accept it," Stellan said. "You're the kids' grandmother. Visiting them is understandable. If you can do what you promised, I can persuade them to visit you regularly. I swear!" Seeing Stellan was about to agree, Marigold pressed on. "As long as you can persuade them to accept me and visit me regularly, I can do what I said."
"Alright." Stellan then took the bouquet and said, "I'll take these flowers. Thank you."
After Stellan accepted the flowers, Marigold and Joe looked particularly happy.
"Since that's settled, it's a deal," Marigold said. "I won't oppose anymore. You can live your life, and I won't interfere. Alright, go on with your business. I'll be off."
Joe helped her into the car. After Marigold's car left, Alaric and Stellan still hadn't processed what had just happened.
Marigold felt utterly disgusted. "It was like swallowing a fly. I actually bowed down to that bitch. It's so disgusting!"
"Endure it first. It's all for the kids," Joe said.
Marigold was too angry to speak.
Meanwhile, Alaric had taken Stellan to a barbecue place. After sitting down, Alaric said, "Don't worry. Whether my mom is sincere or not, I'll protect you and won't let her bully you again." "Okay. I hope it's true," Stellan said, feeling particularly happy at the thought. "If Mrs. Knight can accept me and we can lead our own lives, that would be wonderful."
Stellan naturally hoped all these beautiful thoughts would come true, but little did she know how unpredictable people's hearts could be.
