Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 232 The Person Supporting His Wife in the Background

"Cormac, did you make all this?" Aurora asked, eyes full of admiration.

Cormac wanted to say yes, but he couldn't.

"No, I bought it all," he admitted, knowing he couldn't cook.

"You bought it?" Aurora looked worried. "How much did all this meat cost? It must've been expensive. I don't need much to be full. This is too wasteful."

"You're still growing. Eating isn't a waste."

Aurora shook her head. "But you work so hard, and making money isn't easy. You shouldn't spend like this."

Cormac gently patted her head. "Don't worry, Aurora. I sold that watch and got some money. We're good for the next few months. You can have meat at every meal."

Aurora's eyes widened in shock. "Was your watch made of gold? How could it get so much meat? My dad's watch was twenty dollars and couldn't even get a few pounds of meat."

Her words made Cormac feel both helpless and heartbroken. "Just think of it as gold. Eat up."

"Okay." Aurora quickly washed her hands and sat down to eat, savoring every bite. She didn't forget to offer some to Cormac. "Cormac, try it too."

"Alright."

Seeing Aurora eat so happily, Cormac had mixed feelings.

"I'm so full. Thank you, Cormac." After eating, Aurora patted her belly. "If my dad could see how well I'm living now, he'd be very happy. He always said there are good people in the world. Cormac, you're one of them." Cormac forced a smile.

After the meal, Aurora started cleaning up. "You go do your homework. I'll clean up," Cormac said.

"No need, Cormac. You work hard and need to rest when you get home. I'm not tired from school. I can do this." Aurora took the dishes to the kitchen to wash.

She wiped the table, swept, and mopped the floor. After finishing all the chores, Aurora said, "Cormac, you go take a shower and rest. I'll do my homework." Aurora did everything so skillfully that Cormac couldn't imagine how young she must have been when she started doing these tasks.

Given the small space, the bathroom was quite compact. Cormac quickly showered and then knocked on Aurora's bedroom door.

She was doing her homework at a small, worn-out desk next to her bed.

"Finished your homework?" Cormac asked.

"Yes, I finished earlier. Now I'm reading an extracurricular book," Aurora said, showing him a book on world geography.

"You like reading these books?"

"Yes, I do," Aurora said passionately. "I can learn about many countries around the world. It's like traveling. Look, Cormac, the photos in this book are so beautiful." Cormac smiled. He had been to all those places.

For him, they were just destinations, but for Aurora, they were a dream.

"I'll take you to these places someday. Alright, it's late. You should go to bed. You have school tomorrow."

"Okay." Aurora neatly put away her books. "Good night, Cormac."

After Aurora fell asleep, Cormac gently closed her door and lay down on the couch.

He took out his phone and saw an unread email from Alaric.

Since Alaric couldn't find him, he had left messages through various channels. Cormac had changed his phone number, so he only saw the emails now. [Cormac, I never expected things to come to this. I'm not asking for your forgiveness. I just hope you can find some peace. Be careful.]

It was rare for Alaric to say such things, but it didn't mean much to Cormac anymore.

Cormac deleted the email. The past was behind him, and he wouldn't have any more contact with those people.

That was Cormac's current thought, but life often had other plans.

Meanwhile, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa had returned to the Knight mansion. It was Elisa's first time there, and she was amazed.

"Wow, this place is huge!" Elisa exclaimed.

"This is Elisa's home now," Alaric said lovingly, picking her up.

"Daddy, I love you so much," Elisa said excitedly, kissing Alaric's face repeatedly.

Harry, always blunt, teased, "Do you love Daddy or Daddy's money?"

"Mind your own business!" Elisa shot back.

Caspian and Harry knew the place well, so only Elisa was amazed by everything.

Seeing how familiar Harry was, Elisa asked, "Harry, have you ever been here before? How do you know this place so well?"

No one had told Elisa about the previous identity swap between Caspian and Harry because it didn't seem relevant, and she wouldn't understand it anyway. "Take a guess," Harry said with a smirk.

Elisa thought for a moment, then got angry. "Did Caspian tell you?"

"Elisa, you're so smart. You guessed it right on the first try," Harry teased.

This made Elisa even more upset. She turned to Caspian. "Caspian, why did you tell Harry but not me?"

Caspian was at a loss for words.

"Want to know why?" Harry put his arm around Caspian's neck. "Because we're close."

Caspian, looking annoyed, ordered, "Take your hand off!"

After shaking off Harry's hand, Caspian took Elisa's hand. "Elisa, don't listen to him. Come on, I'll show you upstairs."

"Okay, Caspian is the best." Before going upstairs, Elisa stuck her tongue out at Harry.

"Watch what you say, or you'll get into trouble when you grow up," Alaric warned Harry.

"Don't worry. Usually it's others who get into trouble," Harry said confidently.

Alaric smiled and then said, "Harry, you stay home with Caspian and Elisa. I'm taking your mom to her clinic."

Stellan had scheduled the opening for tomorrow, and they needed to do a final check today.

"Alright, you guys go ahead. I'll take good care of Caspian and Elisa," Harry said, sounding like a grown-up. Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were all independent, and with a nanny at home, there was no cause for concern.

Alaric then accompanied Stellan to the Reassuring Clinic, which was now fully renovated, and her lab was set up.

"Not bad, right?" Stellan asked after showing Alaric around. "I personally helped design this, and I'm very satisfied with it."

"Honey, your taste is impeccable," Alaric said. "By the way, I've paid off the bank loan for you."

Stellan was about to say something, but Alaric interrupted, "I'm your husband now. My money is yours, and your debt is mine. Got it?"

"Got it. Thank you, honey." Stellan didn't need to be overly polite about such things.

"This shop is rented, right?" Alaric asked. "Since you're so satisfied with it, why not just buy it? It's more secure to own it."

"I'm afraid that's not possible," Stellan said. "The agent told me the owner has sentimental value attached to this shop. Even though the whole family has emigrated, they didn't want this place to go to waste. The owner wanted someone to take care of it, so they rented it to me very cheaply, only three thousand a month."

"Three thousand?" Alaric was surprised. "Such a good location, and they rented it to you for three thousand?"

Stellan shrugged. "At first, I didn't believe it either, but the agent was convincing, so it should be true."

"Who's the owner?" Alaric was skeptical about such a good deal.

"I don't know. I only dealt with the agent, never the owner," Stellan said, thinking she was quite lucky. "That period was incredibly challenging for me, but everything related to this shop, including the loan, rent, and opening process, went remarkably smoothly."

"Everything went smoothly?" Alaric asked. "You borrowed one and a half million?"

"Yes."

"Home loan?"

Stellan smiled. "I don't own a home to mortgage. It was actually a zero-collateral loan, and the bank employees were incredibly helpful. Initially, I thought you might have been helping me behind my back, but then I realized I was mistaken. You weren't even aware of it back then."

Someone was helping Stellan behind the scenes?

Alaric walked out of the shop and looked around. His gaze settled on the building opposite the Reassuring Clinic. "Is that building across the street a residential building?"
