Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 230 The Wedding Night
"Are you asking what I'd do if I got kicked out of the Knight family, lost my job at Nexus Innovations, and had nothing left?"
Seeing Stellan's concern, Alaric asked directly. She nodded.
Alaric sighed, frustrated. "Do you really think I'm that useless?"
Stellan was taken aback. "No, I just..."
"I
get it," Alaric cut in, smiling. "I joined the military at eight, with no family to help me. I climbed the ranks on my own, setting records with every promotion. I retired due to severe injuries."
"Back with the Knight family, I switched from politics to business, starting from scratch and building Nexus Innovations. If I lost it all, I wouldn't be scared to start over. What I fear is losing the drive and support to do it." Alaric's gaze softened as he looked at Stellan. "Galatea, do you get what I mean?"
Stellan felt relieved. She smiled and nodded. "I understand."
To outsiders, it might seem like Alaric owed everything to the Knight family. Sure, he had a prominent start, but taking the company to new heights was all his own efforts. Stellan suddenly admired him even more. "Alaric, you must look amazing in a military uniform."
"A man in uniform has a different vibe, especially someone as handsome as Alaric," she thought.
"I look good even without the uniform," Alaric said, grinning.
Stellan rolled her eyes but admitted, "Yeah, you look good in anything." "Honey."
It was the first time Stellan called him that, and Alaric loved it.
"Call me honey from now on. I like it," Alaric said.
"Depends on how you behave," Stellan teased.
"I'll make sure to behave well."
Stellan laughed. "Where are we going now? Pick up the kids and go home for dinner?"
"We see the kids every day. Tonight's special. Let's go back to the Knight mansion, just the two of us. Mia can watch the kids. We'll bring them over tomorrow." "Wedding night?" Stellan murmured.
"Yep," Alaric said, waving their marriage certificate. "We got married today, so tonight's our wedding night."
Stellan took the certificate and looked at it closely.
Alaric drove into the Knight mansion's courtyard, holding Stellan's hand as they walked inside. He'd sent all the servants away to have the night alone with her.
Stellan found the mansion impressive. It was only her second time there; the first time, Alaric had dragged her out before she even got through the door.
"There are some not-so-great memories here," Stellan said playfully.
"But this is where our story began," Alaric replied. "That day, Caspian ran off with you, and I brought Harry back."
Stellan nodded. "Yeah, it does hold some significance."
The first time she came, she was begging Alaric not to fire her. She never imagined she'd become the mistress of the place.
Alaric laughed, "Honey, it's just us tonight. How about I cook, and you help? We'll make a love-filled dinner."
"Sure," Stellan agreed.
They changed clothes and headed to the kitchen.
Stellan prepped the ingredients while Alaric cooked like a pro. When it was time to prepare the fruit, Alaric stayed close, and Stellan would feed him pieces, followed by sweet kisses.
The dinner setup was romantic, with soft lighting and a special atmosphere.
Alaric said softly, "Today marks the start of my official role as your husband. I'm looking forward to our life together, so please take care of me, Mrs. Knight."
He raised his wine glass, and Stellan clinked hers gently. "And please take care of me, Mr. Knight."
They both took a sip of wine.
"I'm happy today, so you may drink, but just one glass. No more," Stellan said.
"Alright, you're the boss, my dear. Just one glass," Alaric agreed.
"You shouldn't drink at all. You're still in treatment," Stellan sighed. "You had two injections before, but the treatment was interrupted, so those were wasted. We have to start over, and all your suffering was for nothing." Alaric teased, "That's no big deal. I enjoy being taken care of by you while lying in bed."
"Stop joking. Weren't you the one feeling awful with the vomiting and fever?" Stellan retorted, feeling distressed.
Alaric had suffered so much during the treatment, and with everything that happened recently, it was all in vain. "You're such a skilled doctor. Maybe you'll develop a special medicine soon."
Stellan felt guilty. She had planned to research it thoroughly but never found the time.
"With our wedding luck, I'll find a good day soon to open my clinic and set up a lab inside," Stellan said.
"Alright, I'll be there on the opening day," Alaric said.
Stellan smiled and nodded. They finished their love-filled dinner and then took a bath together.
