Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 227 Can't Wait to Marry Me

Alaric and Stellan searched all night, but the surveillance only showed Cormac leaving the Nash family Group during the day, and then he vanished. Stellan tried to reassure him, "Alaric, don't stress too much. No news is good news. Cormac will be fine."

Alaric could only hope that was true. If something really happened to Cormac, he'd never forgive himself.

Stellan asked cautiously, "Should we head home? You've already got people looking for him. We'll hear something as soon as there's news."

Alaric nodded, but his heart was still heavy. He knew that whether they found Cormac or not, he had lost him as a friend forever.

Ambrose didn't sleep that night either, but he seemed relaxed, like he'd just watched a good show.

"Cormac moved into Matthew's place?" Ambrose asked.

Denny replied, "Yeah. Alaric searched for Cormac all night. Matthew's place is remote, and there are no surveillance cameras around. Alaric won't find him."

If Ambrose hadn't had someone keeping an eye on him, he wouldn't have found Cormac in such a remote spot, either.

"Mr. Vale, now that Cormac's at Matthew's, do we still need to keep our promise to support Aurora through college?" Denny asked.

Ambrose thought for a moment and said, "Since Cormac's taking on that responsibility, we don't need to. If we keep supporting her, it'll expose us."

Even if Cormac suspected Orion's car accident, he'd only suspect Alaric and never think Ambrose had anything to do with it.

"Got it," Denny responded, then added disdainfully, "Cormac's really dumb. He's in such a bad spot himself, yet he still pities others. Doesn't he see his predicament? He's worse off than a homeless person!" Ambrose sneered, "Yeah, does he really think he's some savior? Can't stand to see human suffering?"

The disdain on Ambrose's face grew stronger, turning into ruthlessness. "Good people always get bullied and never have a good end!"

He had endured so many years in the Vale family, once truly considering it his home. But what was the result? Did anyone accept him?

The more he tolerated, the more they took advantage of him and bullied him. The Vale family was a dead end for good people.

Denny said, "All a bunch of fools. They were self-righteous. In the end, they'll all reap what they sow."

Ambrose particularly agreed with Denny. They were all a bunch of fools!

In the shabby house, Aurora slept in the bedroom, and Cormac slept on the sofa outside.

This kind of shabby house, let alone living in it, he had never even seen one before. Lying here now, all Cormac could smell was the unpleasant dampness.

But at this moment, Cormac felt inexplicably at ease. He was so tired.

He had forgotten how many days it had been since he last slept. Closing his eyes, he quickly fell asleep.

Perhaps he was really too tired. Cormac slept for a long time and woke up naturally the next day.

As soon as he woke up, he smelled the fragrant aroma of food and saw that Aurora had already prepared breakfast.

"Cormac, you're awake?" Aurora said as she put on her backpack. "I've already had breakfast. I left some for you in the kitchen. Remember to eat it. I'm going to school." Did she leave him breakfast?

This made Cormac feel particularly guilty, and he quickly apologized, "Aurora. I'm sorry for waking up so late."

Aurora said, "It's okay. You work hard and need more rest. I can cook. Cormac, I'm going to school. Don't leave. I want to see you when I get back."

Cormac agreed, "Okay, I won't leave."

Aurora handed a key to Cormac and said, "This is my dad's key."

After that, she turned to leave. Cormac quickly asked, "Where's your school?"

"Lakeside Secondary School."

"That's far from here. Are you going by yourself?"

This place was so remote that the school bus didn't come here. Aurora said, "I've always taken the bus to school. It's very safe. Goodbye."

Aurora waved to Cormac and then walked out with her backpack.

Cormac looked around the room. Although it was small and shabby, it was very clean.

He couldn't imagine that this fourteen-year-old girl, who should be clinging to her parents and acting spoiled, had already become independent and was even taking care of the sick Matthew like an adult. She was so sensible that it made his heart ache.

Cormac went into the kitchen and saw that his breakfast had been specially covered, with a small note left beside it.

The first word, "Dad," was half-written and then crossed out, followed by "Cormac, this is the breakfast I made for you. I'm going to school."

Seeing the crossed-out "Dad," Cormac felt very sad.

When Cormac was a young master, he never knew that some people's lives could be so hard. He thought all children were cherished by their parents.

Even though Cormac was unlucky and Griffon didn't like him, Aurora's unluck made him despise himself.

Indeed, there was only one form of happiness, but there were thousands of forms of unhappy happiness.

If he had known Aurora before, he would have let her live in a big house and enjoy the life she deserved at her age.

But now he had nothing.

However, Cormac had completely given up the idea of suicide. He decided to live well.

He went out to get a new phone card, as he wouldn't be able to use his old number anymore, and then he needed to find a job. Cormac didn't want to be a psychologist anymore, and he couldn't. If he applied to a big company, Alaric would quickly find out.

The high society circle in Arizona was so small that if he applied to big companies, he would run into people he knew everywhere.

Therefore, he could only do some physical labor. Actually, he couldn't convince himself before today.

But after seeing Aurora, he felt it was nothing. If Aurora could endure hardship, he could endure any hardship as a strong adult.

So, Cormac spent the day looking for jobs, filling out various forms, and going through multiple procedures.

"All the procedures are done." Alaric handed Stellan her new resident card. Stellan took it and almost cried when she saw the name Stellan Storm on the card. "Thank you, Alaric." She could finally live under the name Stellan.

Alaric said, "Everything is restored. Now take your documents, and let's go to marry."

"Okay!" This time, Stellan agreed readily.

Alaric joked, "It's rare. You've rejected me so many times, and now you agree so readily that I'm not used to it."

"There were reasons before," Stellan said, quickly pulling Alaric into the car. "Let's hurry. The County Clerk's Office is about to close."

Alaric teased, "Can't Wait to Marry Me?"

"Shut up. If you're not in a hurry, then forget it."

"I'm in a hurry, of course. But don't worry, I've already informed the County Clerk's Office."

"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Stellan said, taking out makeup from her bag to touch up. Since they were going to get their marriage certificate, she wanted to look her best. Seeing makeup in her bag surprised Alaric. Before, her bag only had patient records and nothing else.

"When did you start carrying makeup in your bag?"

In response, Stellan rolled her eyes at him and continued touching up her makeup.

Just then, Alaric's phone rang. Stellan glanced down and saw a glaring word on the screen: Mom.
