Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 199 Should He Die
Galatea decided to tell Alaric everything, but she really didn't know how to start, so she kept organizing her thoughts. Galatea hadn't even noticed Alaric had already parked the car next to her.
"Get in." It wasn't until Alaric rolled down the window and spoke to her that she snapped out of it and then got in the car. Galatea cautiously looked at Alaric, whose face was particularly grim at the moment.
"Did you have another fight with your mom?" This question was becoming a cliché.
Hearing this question, Alaric was speechless. He said, "I really don't want to argue with her, but every time, it ends badly." Galatea knew it was all her fault, and she felt like a failure.
She didn't dare claim she was exceptional, but at least her looks and education were above most girls. She also believed she could endure hardships, manage a household, and respect Alaric's parents.
But Marigold didn't like her, and neither did Alaric's mom.
"What's wrong? You look so down." Seeing Galatea so dejected, Alaric reached out to pinch her cheek.
"Are you feeling torn between me and your mom?" Galatea looked at Alaric with concern.
"Why? Are you thinking of leaving me to make it easier for me?" Alaric immediately emphasized, "I've fought for us to be together, so I won't allow you to compromise. In the future, it will be just the two of us living together. What does her opposition matter? We don't have to live with her, right?"
Alaric coaxed her, but Galatea couldn't smile.
She knew how hard Alaric had worked to be with her, but she had a series of other troubles now.
"Alaric." Galatea mustered the courage to speak to Alaric.
Alaric looked at her. "What?"
Galatea was so nervous that she swallowed hard, then gathered her courage again and said, "Alaric, I want to tell you something."
Seeing Galatea so nervous, Alaric guessed what she was about to say and deliberately played along. "What is it?"
"You might not believe me, but everything I'm about to say is true." Galatea gathered her courage and said, "I actually don't know who Harry and Elisa's dad is."
Alaric nodded. "I believe you. And then?"
Galatea didn't expect Alaric to respond so calmly. Wasn't he even a little surprised?
"After the Storm family went bankrupt, we owed a lot of debt. I was really desperate, and then..." At this point, Galatea found it hard to continue, but she had to. "Then a lady named Marigold found me. She said her son had been in a coma for two years. She consulted a wizard, who told her to find a woman to marry her son and have a child, and only then might her son wake up."
Alaric, who had been in a coma at the time, didn't know the specifics of what had happened and was quite interested in hearing Galatea's story.
Galatea continued, "I agreed and followed Marigold's arrangements. First, I married her son, then had artificial insemination and got pregnant." "Since you married him, you don't know what he looks like?" Alaric asked.
Galatea shook her head. "No, I don't even know his name. Marigold never told me. She wouldn't let me see him either."
"Then how did you get married?"
"I don't know. Marigold handled everything. She said because her son's situation was special, they used special means, but she assured me the marriage was legal."
"So you've never seen any marriage agreement?"
"No."
"You've never seen your husband or any marriage agreement?"
"Isn't it ridiculous? But it's all true." Galatea was afraid Alaric would not believe her, so she kept emphasizing.
Alaric smiled. "Of course, I believe you."
How could Alaric not believe her? Because that Marigold was his mother, and he was the husband she had never met.
"You believe me?" Galatea was genuinely surprised by Alaric's unwavering belief.
"I believe everything you say. I can't believe a highly educated girl like you would get married so haphazardly and even have kids without knowing who the father is. Were you out of your mind?"
Alaric thought Galatea was incredibly naive, and it seemed Marigold had planned everything from the start.
From the beginning, Marigold only wanted the child. If it weren't for that DNA result back then, Marigold would have found a way to keep the child and kick Galatea out of the Knight family after she gave birth.
If Marigold had planned to kick Galatea out after she gave birth, the marriage agreement was likely fake or didn't exist at all.
Marigold was truly ruthless!
Galatea muttered, "Back then, I was desperate and had no choice but to compromise."
Alaric understood this but also felt heartbroken.
Alaric held Galatea's hand and said, "At least it's all in the past now. I am here now, and I won't let you suffer anymore."
"But..." How should Galatea tell Alaric that "husband" wasn't dead yet?
Alaric asked, "But what?"
Galatea explained, "I recently got in touch with Marigold again, and she said her son isn't dead."
So, she still had a husband?
"She said her son isn't dead?" Alaric found this strange and asked, "Did you think her son was already dead?"
Galatea answered bluntly, "Yes. When I married him, he had been in a coma for two years. After I gave birth, he was still in a coma, so that's three years. The chances of someone waking up after three years in a coma are very slim, so I always thought he was dead. But he's not, which is a medical miracle."
Did she sound a bit disappointed?
Should he be dead?
"What kind of person do you think her son is?" Alaric asked.
Galatea shrugged. "I've never met him, so I don't know. But judging by his unreasonable mother, he probably isn't much better."
Alaric was speechless. He was amused and only nodded. "Yes, maybe."
Alaric's reaction was odd, and just as Galatea was about to ask him, the car stopped. Alaric said, "We're here. Get out."
