Chapter 184 Are You Going to Hold A Grudge Against Me for A Lifetime over A Woman?
Galatea stood outside the intensive care unit with Cormac. Today, Cormac was alone in the hospital, so Galatea came directly. In just a few days, Galatea sensed that Cormac looked very worn. As a doctor, Galatea didn't need to ask about Ravenna when she saw her like this; she knew it wasn't good.
"Cormac, you trusted me to treat Ravenna Nash, and I'm sorry that there isn't a good outcome," Galatea said.
Galatea felt helpless at the moment. Even though the treatment was pro bono, the Nash family should be grateful to her. But the day she left Ravenna, things turned like this, leaving her with a bitter feeling.
"It's my fault," Cormac said, "I initially wanted you to be my mother's doctor simply because of your medical skills, without considering some practical factors. Now, seeing my mother like this must make you uncomfortable. I didn't handle things properly."
Galatea just sighed lightly and looked into the ward without saying anything more.
What Cormac said just now was the truth. Despite Griffon and Orion insisting that Galatea was behind Ravenna's condition, Cormac never believed them.
"Galatea," Cormac remembered something and asked, "Last time, Alaric went to the Nash family with you. What happened then?"
Cormac had been asking about this, but Griffon had been evasive. Now that Galatea was here, he had to ask her.
"I actually don't know," Galatea said truthfully, "After arriving at the Nash family, I went upstairs to treat Ravenna Nash. Alaric stayed on the first floor. I'm not sure what they talked about. When I came downstairs, the atmosphere had completely changed. Griffon was very angry and told me that they would change Ravenna Nash's doctor and that I wouldn't be needed anymore, so I left."
Cormac completely believed what Galatea said, wondering what Griffon and Alaric had discussed.
Economic matters had already been settled last time, and any arguments had been had. What else could worsen the conflict between Griffon and Alaric?
Cormac couldn't think of anything, especially with Ravenna in her current state. He didn't have the energy to dwell on these issues anymore.
"Big Brother Cormac, Ravenna Nash is lucky. Don't worry too much," Galatea advised Cormac, seeing his concern.
"I understand," Cormac said with a forced smile. "Thanks for your kind words. You're also in a recovery period now. It's better not to stay in the hospital for too long. Let me escort you out."
Galatea nodded. The first time she met Cormac, she thought he was unreliable, but after a few encounters, her opinion changed. Cormac was kind-hearted and attentive.
Cormac escorted Galatea out of the hospital ward. As soon as Galatea left, she saw Griffon approaching. Seeing Griffon's angry expression, Galatea couldn't even muster a polite greeting.
"I've told you before that our Nash family can't afford to associate with your Knight family. It's better not to come here again," Griffon bluntly told Galatea.
"Galatea is my friend," Cormac immediately retorted. "I asked her to come because I needed her."
After that, Cormac politely said, "Thank you for coming today. You should head back now."
"Okay." Since Griffon was unfriendly toward her, Galatea ignored him and just said goodbye to Cormac before walking away briskly.
After Galatea left, Griffon furrowed his brow and sighed. He said to Cormac, "That woman has caused your mother to end up like this. Yet you still associate with her. Even if you refuse to admit it, you are still a part of the Nash family. We've completely fallen out with the Knight family. I'm telling you this for your own good. Stay away from the Knight family members, or you'll end up losing out in the end."
"It's not that the Nash family has fallen out with the Knight family; it's just that you've fallen out with Alaric. We are different. Don't lump us together," Cormac said, "Since you're here, I'll head back first."
He hadn't had a good night's sleep in days ;and needed to go home and rest. As he took a step to leave, Griffon angrily called out to him.
"Cormac, are you planning to be mad at me for a lifetime because of Rowena Blaire?" Griffon scolded angrily. "I'm your father, and you have a blood relationship with the Nash family. Are you going to leave us because of a bitch who's trying to climb the social ladder?"
"I'll say it again, she's not a bitch!" Cormac strongly objected to those words. "As an elder, using such malicious words to describe a young girl, don't you think it's disrespectful?"
"Cormac, bastard!" Griffon couldn't contain his anger upon hearing these words. He raised his hand and slapped Cormac without hesitation. "Who gave you the right to speak to me like that? You don't know how to respect your elders!" Cormac just pressed his lips together where he was hit. He wasn't surprised that Griffon had resorted to violence.
"Cormac, look at yourself. Do you still have the demeanor of a young master from a prestigious family?" Griffon continued to reprimand him, "You were supposed to be the sole heir of the Nash family, inheriting the family business and advancing the family's development. Instead, you've become a damn psychologist. You've brought shame upon the Nash family."
"If I've brought shame upon the Nash family, then sever ties with me completely, disown me. Do you think I want to be your son? What prestigious family heir? I don't care about that!" Cormac retorted.
Cormac turned and walked away quickly. His words had clearly infuriated Griffon, who shouted after him. "Cormac, fuck! If you want to sever our father-son relationship, then never step foot in the Nash family again!" But Cormac couldn't hear anymore. Griffon muttered to himself in frustration. "What an asshole! This is enough to drive me crazy!"
After visiting Ravenna in the hospital, Galatea felt uneasy, both because of Ravenna and Cormac.
She actually understood Cormac's current feelings very well. He had been away for years, spending little time with Ravenna. If anything happened to Ravenna, it would be a regret he couldn't make up for in his lifetime. Just like her, with her parents gone, she couldn't repay their kindness. If time could be turned back, she wouldn't choose to study abroad; she would have stayed by Brennan's side.
Thinking of Brennan led her to Harry and Elisa. It had been a long time since she had seen them, and she felt sorry for neglecting them.
So she called Harry and Elisa. At that moment, Harry and Elisa were facing "trouble." A luxury car was parked at the school gate after school, with four bodyguards standing in two rows.
In front of them was Marigold, wearing a smile from ear to ear. Caspian had never seen her smile before, and now it made him nervous.
"My mom is calling." Caspian 's phone rang, and he showed Marigold the caller ID. "If you don't leave now, I'll tell her."
