Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 157 Do You Feel No Guilt at All?
"I had no idea at all." Mrs. Marigold spoke with great pain. "If it weren't for that damn DNA result, I wouldn't have done such a wrong thing, and I wouldn't have treated Caspian poorly."
Nor would I have had my other two grandchildren tragically pass away.
"I've sent someone to find that Robert doctor from back then. Once I find him, I'll skin him alive!"
Alaric remained silent, deep in thought, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly asked Mrs. Marigold, "Mom, you mentioned that you decided to do the DNA test based on Robert's advice. Was Robert the doctor who conducted the DNA test for me and Caspian?"
"Yes, he said I had put in so much effort, it would be a shame if there were any mistakes in the end. He even mentioned that even a fetus in the womb could have a DNA test. I was just confused at that time." "Do you know this doctor?" Alaric interrupted Mrs. Marigold.
"I don't know him, but he is a highly respected expert at the hospital."
"Mom, you really have been confused. You let a stranger doctor, Robert, say a few words, which made you doubt Caspian. And then, you've been deceived for so many years by a piece of DNA result."
"I have been so confused. I shouldn't have done that DNA test. I regret it so much. I truly regret it."
As Mrs. Marigold spoke with tears, feeling the pain in her heart for the wrong she had done.
Alaric furrowed his brow, took a heavy breath, and then asked, "Where do you think the problem with the previous DNA result?"
"Where else could it have come from? That damn doctor made the mistake of causing great suffering for the Knight family."
"A doctor you didn't know, who advised you to do a DNA test, and then the result turned out to be false. Is that a coincidence?" Alaric didn't believe it. "Moreover, DNA testing is unlikely to be wrong unless tampered with by others." Now, Mrs. Marigold was particularly heartbroken, and her mind was in chaos. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"It means it's not a simple wrong." Alaric's eyes darkened. "To find out who was behind this wrongdoing, we need to consider who benefited the most from it. Obviously, it wouldn't be that Robert." He said slowly. Alaric's subsequent words were spoken softly, and Mrs. Marigold didn't catch what he was saying.
Alaric's gaze turned cold as he stood up and looked at Mrs. Marigold. "One last question, could that woman have been saved?"
Although Mrs. Marigold had not explicitly mentioned it, Alaric had already guessed.
With today's medical technology, cases of dystocia were rare. Mrs. Marigold felt that the woman had deceived her, which led her not to choose to save the woman.
Upon hearing this question, Mrs. Marigold's crying stopped, but she didn't answer, nor did she dare to answer.
Mrs. Marigold's silence and avoidance confirmed Alaric's answer.
"That woman was innocent. It was your belief in that false result that led to her death. And even now, you can still call her a vile woman. Mom, I really have to ask; what is in your heart? A living soul was wrongfully killed, and you feel no guilt at all!"
After Alaric finished speaking, Mrs. Marigold also felt aggrieved. Since learning about this matter, it seemed that in Alaric's eyes, she was the only one at fault. Every word he spoke seemed to be in defense of that woman. However, due to the DNA incident years ago, Mrs. Marigold was also in the wrong. Despite feeling angry, she didn't argue with Alaric at this moment.
Alaric proceeded forward with purposeful strides, only to halt momentarily on the precipice of exiting the grand hall. "In the ensuing days, I will be at the company. I entrust Caspian's well-being to you."He proclaimed. Galatea was poised to commence his treatment, an undertaking not conducive to his constant shuttling. More crucial was the fact that Alaric, in the short term, had no desire to engage with Mrs. Marigold's presence.
After Alaric left, Mrs. Marigold angrily smashed all the cups on the table.
Hearing the noise, Rook, who had been waiting outside, hurried in and asked, "What's wrong, Mrs. Marigold? Did you argue with Mr. Alaric again?"
"Did that damn Robert doctor get found?" Mrs. Marigold angrily questioned.
Despite being a woman, Mrs. Marigold had been supporting the entire Knight family since Mr. Knight Senior's passing.
She hadn't suffered any losses in the business for so many years, but a certain Robert had tricked her. Mrs. Marigold felt utterly powerless at this moment. "Mrs. Marigold, we're doing everything to find him." Rook quickly replied.
"Even if Robert has fled to the ends of the earth, I will find him. I want to kill him. I must kill him!"
"Yes." seeing Mrs. Marigold in such a furious state, Rook could only nod repeatedly.
After leaving the Knight family villa, Alaric felt heavyhearted. He hadn't expected so many things to happen while he was unconscious.
He didn't even dare to find out the identity of the unfortunate woman who died in childbirth after giving birth to his child.
Alaric let out a long sigh and was about to start the car when he received a message from Galatea.
[Alaric, the shop renovation is nearing completion. I'll keep an eye on things this afternoon, and I'll come to see you in the evening.]
Seeing Galatea's message, Alaric's troubled mood eased slightly. He replied. [Okay, don't tire yourself out. I'll come to pick you up in the evening.]
[I got it. See you tonight.]
Seeing Galatea's reply, Alaric's lips curled slightly, and he put away his phone.
Alaric told himself to calm down and clear his mind. Getting angry now wouldn't help the situation. He needed to stay composed and think things thoroughly.
Since the biggest beneficiary wouldn't be that Robert, the Nash family was the only one left.
Griffon had always cherished Orion, willing to do everything to make her happy. This included fabricating DNA tests to fulfill Orion's wish to marry him and making a despicable act that drove away that woman and Caspian. Griffon was capable of such deeds, just as he had been in the past.
With this in mind, Alaric took out his phone and called Cormac.
"When I saw your call, I thought I was hallucinating. What's up? Mr. Alaric, calling me out of the blue when you're always so busy?"
"Old place, let's talk." Alaric said coldly, hanging up.
Cormac was about to curse. Couldn't Alaric let him finish speaking before hanging up?
The old place was Lingyun Winery.
What's wrong with Alaric? Could it be a breakup with Galatea again?
