Raegan's legs turned to jelly. His knees began to hurt. The only thing he could use as a weapon was the flashlight in his hand.

With a creak, a door was pushed open.

Raegan looked around. It was empty. There wasn't even a place to hide.

In the end, he had to go behind the bedroom door and stand against the wall with the flashlight held high.

The sound of approaching footsteps was very faint, but loud enough in the silent night. With every step the man took, Raegan's heart trembled. His hands began to shake.

He prayed silently, hoping that the man who had entered only wanted money and would leave as soon as he saw that the place was deserted.

But it seemed like his prayer was going nowhere. He continued to hear the doors opening one by one.

The terrifying footsteps continued, getting closer and closer to his bedroom.

Soon a shadow was cast across the space under the door. Raegan saw the doorknob move gently. His heart began to beat so hard that he gripped the flashlight nervously.

Raegan knew she only had one chance. If she failed, she would be doomed.

Creak The old wooden door opened little by little.

A bearded man suddenly appeared in front of Raegan.

Bang! Raegan hit her face hard.

The flashlight fell to the ground with a clang.

The man staggered back, holding his face as he groaned.

Raegan took the opportunity to throw the door wide open. But before she could run away, a hand grabbed her ankle.

«Ha, ha... What a beauty... You smell so good...».

It was very clear that the man was mentally ill and was also very strong. With a jerk, Raegan lost her balance.

He supported himself with his elbows so as not to hit his face on the floor.

The madman got up and dragged her towards the bed.

Raegan was scared to death. He kicked so hard that the shoes at his feet fell to the ground. When he stepped back, the only thing left in the man's hand was a sock.

He jumped to his feet and ran out of the room for his life. He also screamed for help.

Reluctant to let her go, the man ran after her.

Raegan looked back in fear. Suddenly, he crashed into a wall and almost lost his balance. She was trying to steady herself when another hand grabbed her.

Shit! Were there two men?

At that moment, there was only one thought in Raegan's mind… It wasn't just one man, but two!

«Ah! "Let go of me!"

Raegan opened her mouth wide and bit the arm holding her. His teeth sank into the flesh, and soon, his mouth was filled with the metallic taste of blood.

The man she was biting hissed and pinched her jaw with his hand, forcing her to let go of his arm.

"What's the matter?" At the same time an impatient voice was heard.

Raegan looked up and saw Mitchel's handsome face in the moonlight.

He stared at him blankly. Was it an illusion? Did your brain start to malfunction after the blow?

Seeing the tears on her delicate face, Mitchel's hard face instantly softened.

"Are you OK?"

The familiar voice rang in Raegan's ears, bringing her back to her senses. She instantly grabbed him by the neck and said with a trembling voice: "Oh, thank goodness you're back..."

She burst into tears with her face resting on his chest.

What did he mean by that? Had you been waiting for him? His words made Mitchel's heart skip a beat.

He had planned to leave for Ardlens this afternoon. But he changed his mind at the last minute.

He had a bad feeling that he couldn't shake. It didn't seem like a good idea to leave Raegan alone in that remote place.

So he turned around and parked not far away. He waited for the lights to go out.

It didn't take long to realize that the front door was open.

It was strange, so he went over to check it out.

It couldn't have come at a better time.

Mitchel stroked Reagan's head. He soon realized something. His expression changed instantly.

He took off his suit jacket, put it on, and then said, "Wait here."

Raegan, who was sitting wrapped in Mitchel's jacket, heard the muffled sound of fists in the distance. A man's screams followed.

His body was no longer shaking. Now she felt safe.

Soon after, sirens and flashing lights came from outside.

Some of the neighbors who heard Raegan's scream had called 911.

The police officers threw the man to the ground and handcuffed him.

Then, an agent approached them.

«The man has a criminal record. "He pretends to be homeless so he can stalk beautiful young girls before taking advantage of them."

Damn! You must have seen Raegan cleaning the house this afternoon.

The agent's words reminded Raegan of the man's terrible face. He trembled with fear.

When they dragged the criminal away, his face was swollen and bloody.

He licked his lips at Raegan and sniffed.

«Hmm... Beautiful... You smell good...».

Goosebumps prickled Raegan's skin, making her stomach queasy.

Mitchel picked up Raegan and headed straight to his car. After tying her up, he wanted to turn around to slide into the driver's seat, but she grabbed his wrist and said plaintively, "I left something at home."

"Don't worry. "We'll come back for it tomorrow," he told her, gently patting her hand.

Hearing these reassuring words, Raegan said nothing more. He leaned back and closed his eyes. However, his heart was still pounding.

Mitchel wanted to return to Ardlens. But now that it was evident that Raegan was not feeling well, he changed his mind.

He found a hotel nearby.

As soon as he entered the room, Mitchel frowned. The inside was worse than any hotel room he had ever stayed in.

However, he could only settle for it because it was considered the best in the city.

She asked staff to change toiletries and all bedding to disposable ones.

Then she ran Raegan a hot bath and told her to take a good soak.

Raegan stood in the bathroom doorway. She didn't want to be left alone in the bathroom. Persistent fear prevented him from thinking clearly.

With trembling fingers, he tugged at Mitchel's shirt and asked something he would never have asked in the past.

"Mitchel... Can you take a bath with me?"

The fear in his eyes was evident.

Mitchel narrowed her eyes and asked, "Are you sure?"

Raegan was stunned. He neither nodded nor moved his head. But right now, no one could comfort her like Mitchel.

He remembered when he hugged her and felt the warmth of her chest against her face.

It was the kind of feeling she craved.

A hint of ambiguity grew silently in the air. Raegan felt scalded by Mitchel's intense gaze. It was too late to remove my hand.

Mitchel grabbed her and then reached behind her to unzip her dress.

After undressing her, he picked her up and carried her to the bathtub.

As she soaked in the warm, soapy water, Raegan took her hand and said, her face flushed, "I can do it myself."

Mitchel gently moved her hand away and insisted in a hoarse voice, "Don't worry, I won't cross the line."

To show that he had no bad intentions, he kept a straight face the entire time.

That way he seemed more like a gentleman.

But every time his hand touched her skin, it felt so caressing and a little hard at the same time.

Raegan leaned her head back as she sat in the tub. He didn't even look at it. After enduring it for a while, I couldn't take it anymore.

"Well, that's enough."

Mitchel raised his eyebrows. Seeing that she was serious, he helped her out and dried her body with a clean towel before putting a bathrobe on her.

After taking her to the bedroom, he went to take a shower.

When he came out of the bathroom, Raegan was already lying peacefully on the bed.

It was hard to tell if he was faking it or not.

Mitchel gently lifted the blanket and climbed into bed. He took her into his arms and rested his chin on the top of her head.

When he felt her shudder a little, he lifted one corner of his mouth and said softly, “Raegan, the baby is mine, right?”
