Chapter 9:

? ? ? ? ?

The intense gaze Mitchel was giving Raegan now reminded Raegan of the terrifying dream she had earlier.

In her dream, Mitchel had told her to abort the child when she found out she was pregnant.

His heart began to race as he stammered, “No… I don't know. Maybe it's something I ate. "I'll be fine as soon as I get some rest."

Mitchel frowned. It was hard to know if he believed her or not.

Raegan was so nervous that she bit her lip and murmured, "You're hurting me."

Loosening his grip slightly, Mitchel opened the soft palm of Raegan's hand.

Several intertwined bruises appeared. They were not at all pleasant to look at.

His eyebrows furrowed.

"Didn't you go to the hospital?"

Raegan wasn't even aware of those bruises. He must have scraped his palm on the floor when he fell. Thinking about the incident, his sadness returned.

The change in his expression did not go unnoticed by Mitchel. As soon as he saw her pale face, he picked her up and carried her to the sofa.

Then he brought the first aid box.

He knelt down and began to clean the wound carefully.

"Why didn't you dodge?"

This question left Raegan speechless. It was the first time I had seen a man who acted wrongly so righteously.

He had pushed her and asked her why she hadn't dodged. What nerve of that guy!

Mitchel gently cleaned the scratches with the sterilized cotton.

When his eyes landed on Raegan's bruises, he seemed so kind.

This simple action of his was capable of making her fall in love with his tenderness.

The tingling sensation made Raegan hiss and her eyes glazed over.

He bit his lower lip hard to endure the pain.

Although it wasn't that painful, he really wanted to cry.

She raised her head a little and took a deep breath to stop the tears from coming.

She really wanted to ask Mitchel if he loved her.

However, he did not dare to ask him because he was afraid of receiving an unfavorable answer. The truth, as the saying went, was bitter.

Mitchel raised his head, only to see blood oozing from Raegan's bottom lip.

He pinched her chin and ordered, “Stop doing that. "You're bleeding."

Raegan's ears turned red with embarrassment. She tried to hide her tears as she complained, "But it hurts a lot."

His voice trailed off as Mitchel continued to pinch his chin.

Little by little, her nose turned red and a tear slid down her cheek.

It was like the dew that runs down a rose at dawn, so beautiful and fragile at the same time.

Mitchel's heart trembled at the sight.

The next second, he grabbed her chin and kissed her hard.

His sudden movement blocked Raegan's view.

The landing of his lips on hers came out of nowhere. His lips went numb for a second. When he started kissing her roughly, they hurt more than before.

Raegan's heart was beating fast. She quickly put her hands on his chest and pushed hard.

I was still angry with him. Why was he kissing her now? Was it for love or lust?

Questions flooded Raegan's mind at that moment, leaving her head in a mess.

Ignorant of the torment that tormented her, Mitchel continued kissing her passionately. He had always been so dominant.

He grabbed her hands and pressed her against the couch. He began to nibble her lips. Each movement was dominant, slowly breaking Raegan's resolve. Raegan could no longer think clearly.

Raegan had no choice but to cooperate with him without even thinking about it.

Mitchel knew how to turn her on. His fingers remained on her chin as he sucked on her lips softly. Their walls of resistance were broken one after another.

Just as she wrapped her arms around his neck, a phone buzzed.

Mitchel's phone was still vibrating on the table. He refused to take a look at it. Instead, he cupped her face and kissed her with more passion.

Raegan was already moaning against his mouth. His eyes were filled with lust. But when she saw the caller ID, she froze and came to her senses.

She pushed Mitchel hard, but he continued.

When Mitchel realized that she was no longer kissing him back, he stopped, but continued to hold on to her.

The phone kept vibrating. Raegan turned away.

After a moment of silence, Mitchel stood up and walked to the balcony to answer the call.

The door leading to the balcony was ajar. Raegan vaguely heard a woman's soft sobs coming from the other end. Mitchel said a few words in a low, magnetic voice.

Although he couldn't make out what they were talking about, he could deduce from the tone that Mitchel was trying to comfort that woman.

Raegan tore her eyes away, then looked down at the freshly cleaned bruises on her palm. The pain in his hand was nowhere near the pain in his heart.

More than ever, Raegan knew she was heartbroken.

Mitchell returned. He bent down and picked up his car key from the table. He had buttoned his shirt and now his face was cold and noble.

He looked at Raegan and parted his lips, but closed them as he thought better of it.

Finally, he said, "Dinner is on the table." Eat it and then go to bed soon.

His lips were cold but full from kissing them so much.

"Don't go, Mitchel..."

As soon as Mitchel turned around, Raegan jumped up and hugged him from behind. His voice trembled.

She couldn't look him in the eyes for fear of not having the courage to air her feelings.

She wanted to tell her to stay with her instead of running to Lauren every time Lauren called her.

But the words stuck in his throat.

Despite knowing she was going for him on the cheap, Raegan was willing to give it a try for the sake of her baby.

She was trying to stay afloat before the waves swept her away.

Raegan promised herself to ask him to stay just this once.

The silence that fell over them was so suffocating.

The clock ticked while they remained in that position.

Suddenly, Mitchel's phone vibrated again.

He sounded annoyed and off the hook.

“Leave it, Raegan.”

Mitchel finally broke the silence. Without looking at her, he released her grip little by little. Raegan's heart shattered again.

«Lauren is not well. "I have to go see her."

With that, Mitchel walked out the door.

It wasn't until the door was closed that Raegan realized she was now crying. Her face was soaked with tears. No matter how she wiped her eyes, tears kept coming.

She cried and then started laughing like crazy.

It was as if God wanted to make her suffer. When she was a child, people always made fun of her because she was an orphan. He couldn't think of any evil that his companions wouldn't do to him.

Throw your raincoat on him on a rainy day? Or hide her shoes so she could walk barefoot through the snow? Whatever comes to mind.

Despite all the suffering, Raegan remained hopeful that things would get better. He was looking forward to starting his own family and giving his children all the love he had.

I was already an adult. She had a family and the man she wanted to love.

But when Mitchel left and slammed the door in her face, Raegan realized she was still the same helpless orphan she had always been.

I was alone in the world.

The life he hoped for was nothing more than a wish.

Raegan sat on the ground and sank into despair. Why was life so unfair to her?

In the hospital hallway.

«How can you be so cruel? Don't you know it's not in good condition?

Luis unbuttoned the top buttons of his black shirt as he questioned Mitchel.

Mitchel's eyes darkened, but he said nothing.

Leaning against the window, Luis put a hand in his pocket and smiled.

«Mitchel, you've been acting very strange lately. If I remember correctly, you only married Raegan to make your seriously ill grandfather happy. Now that he's much better and Lauren is sick, don't you think it's time for you to divorce Raegan?

Luis waited for a response. But all he got was a thoughtful look, so he added pointedly, “Friendly advice, don't do anything stupid.

Raegan doesn't deserve you. Get rid of her quickly.

«Louis Stevens. Mitchel's voice was cold as ice, and his eyes were icy.

"You're talking about my wife!"

"And?" Luis shrugged his shoulders sarcastically.

«Do I need to remind you that you owe your life to Lauren? How are you going to make it up to her if you don't divorce Raegan?
