Chapter 7:

? ? ? ? ?

It didn't take long for Lauren to wake up. She looked at Tessa and said sweetly, “Oh, I just realized I left my purse at the restaurant. Tessa, could you please bring it to me?

Tessa had wanted to say something else, but she swallowed it. He walked back into the restaurant after glaring at Raegan.

Once Lauren and Raegan were alone, Lauren smiled at Raegan and said, "Thank you for taking care of Mitchel for me the last two years."

This simple phrase was a clear indication that he was declaring possession of Mitchel.

Raegan found it very ironic because, technically, Mitchel was his since she was legally his wife.

Lauren continued: "I don't know what I was thinking when I left the country after a simple argument with Mitchel. I thought our thing was over, but to my surprise, he had been waiting for me all these years. "I am so excited that I have decided to marry him soon."

Raegan was too stunned to speak now.

In an instant, Lauren's voice became vague and distant.

It was as if an invisible hand grabbed Raegan's heart and pulled her into an abyss. Soon he felt short of breath.

Were they going to get married? So Mitchel couldn't wait to divorce her?

«Raegan? "Raegan?"

Lauren called twice and snapped her fingers before Raegan came to.

"How can I help you?"

Looking at Raegan's sullen face, Lauren felt very pleased.

Lauren pulled out her phone, logged into her WhatsApp account, and said, “Raegan, let me add you as a friend on WhatsApp. Mitchel is very kind to me. I want to give you a surprise. Maybe I'll ask you a favor then.

The last thing Raegan wanted was to maintain contact with that woman. But when he saw the anxious look on Lauren's face, he still gave her another account of his own.

The sun was shining outside, and there were fine beads of sweat on Lauren's head. Lauren put the phone away and timidly asked, "Could you help me move there?"

Raegan nodded and gently pushed the wheelchair, but it didn't move.

He squeezed the armrest and bent down to check the wheels.

When Raegan lowered her head, Lauren suddenly grabbed her arm and sarcastically asked, "It must have been fun for you to fuck my man for the last two years, right?"

This vulgar question gave Raegan a bad feeling.

Before he could blink, the wheelchair lurched backwards.

«Ah! "Raegan!" Lauren screamed at the top of her lungs. He had a horrified expression as he fell backwards.

Raegan's eyes snapped open. He immediately stretched out his hand to pull Lauren, but it was too late…

A loud bang was heard.

Lauren fell to the hard floor, her forehead spilling blood.

“Lauren!” A familiar voice came from behind.

Before Raegan could react, she was pushed aside by a great force.

His side hit the railing. A sharp pain penetrated his brain. It left her numb, unable to tell if she had hurt her knees or her lower abdomen.

"Oh! "It hurts me, Mitchel." Lauren yelled as she grabbed Mitchel's shirt. His forehead was stained with blood. He looked like he was in a lot of pain.

Mitchel held the back of Lauren's head and looked at her wound with a worried expression.

In all that time, he didn't spare a single glance at Raegan, whom he had just pushed.

At that moment Raegan had a tight knot in her chest. The air in his lungs was escaping faster than normal.

«I saw it with my own eyes, Mitchel. “This crazy woman pushed Lauren!”

Out of nowhere, Tessa appeared and pointed at Raegan accusingly.

He was telling a blatant lie. She hadn't seen anything, but she just wanted to get Raegan in trouble.

Mitchel whipped his head around to look at Raegan. His eyes burned with rage.

Although his gaze was terrifying, Raegan still had a trace of expectation deep in her heart. He muttered, "Mitchel, I don't..."

“Save it!” Mitchel cut her off with a roar. Her eyes burned like infrared lights as she said, “Pray that nothing bad happens to Lauren. Otherwise, I won't let you go unpunished!

I didn't even want to hear his side of the story.

The hope in Raegan's eyes slowly dissipated.

It was as if someone had stuck a spear through his heart and left it there. His heart bled and hurt.

Oh, how stupid I had been to hope!

It turned out that Mitchel already saw her as a vicious woman. He must have hated her for having "hurt" his beloved.

Suddenly, Raegan began to shake. She hugged herself and still didn't know where exactly it hurt.

Mitchel didn't pay attention to him after that roar. He just picked Lauren up and took giant steps toward his car.

Tessa followed him. Over his shoulder, he looked at Raegan with disgust, as if he were looking at a dirty stray dog.

«This should serve as a wake-up call. Now you're nothing more than a rat in a ditch. A lock of Lauren's hair is worth more than you.

Tessa swore, but Raegan didn't seem to hear her.

Raegan watched Mitchel walk away with Lauren in her arms, worry written all over her face.

I had never seen Mitchel so worried about anything.

Until a few seconds ago, Raegan hadn't realized that Mitchel had never taken her seriously.

The black Bentley drove off, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Extreme pain erupted from Raegan's lower abdomen.

At last he came to his senses. He realized something. She clutched her belly and cried out softly, “Ouch! My baby..."

When her phone rang, Nicole said she was stuck in the parking lot.

It was as if sharp teeth were biting into his lower abdomen.

Raegan panicked. I couldn't get a taxi here, so I had no choice. He got up with the intention of calling Mitchel's car.

He walked down the steps and waved his hand with all the force he could muster.

Unfortunately, the car sped past and disappeared on the road.

Raegan watched him disappear from sight.

The pain in my belly got worse. He knelt down slowly. Just as the world began to spin, she hugged her belly with tears in her eyes.

"Honey, I'm so sorry..."

And then, everything went black.

In a private room.

Lauren lay whimpering in bed as a doctor examined her.

In the hallway, Mitchel was talking on the phone. The sunlight hit his face through the window, reflecting his attractive face.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Dixon. I couldn't find his wife. It seems that she left alone,” Matteo informed him by phone.

“Okay, I see.”

After hanging up, Mitchel couldn't get the image of Raegan falling to the floor after he pushed her out of his head.

It had happened unexpectedly because he was so worried about Lauren.

He didn't remember seeing any injuries. However, he remembered that she looked hurt later.

Mitchel was worried about her. But since I wasn't in the restaurant, maybe it was okay.

I wanted to believe it. However, he still felt uncomfortable and upset.

He couldn't help but think of Raegan's red eyes and teary face.

Logically, he shouldn't worry about her since he had hurt Lauren, but…

Raegan had been nothing less than a good wife for the past two years.

He never crossed the line. Despite being married to a powerful man like him, she never belittled or tried to harm anyone.

Maybe it really was an accident.

If it was an accident, was there more than meets the eye? What role did Lauren play?

Doubts crowded Mitchel's mind. He looked at the living room through the window as his expression slowly changed.

In the living room, minutes later.

Lauren hugged Mitchel like her life depended on it.

Mitchel frowned slightly. He obviously didn't like it, but considering she was hurt now, he couldn't push her away.

"How are you feeling now?" he asked indifferently.

Although they were kind words, Lauren noticed the coldness in his tone. His eyes narrowed.

"It doesn't hurt as much as it used to," she replied, looking at him with pity.

"What exactly happened, Lauren?"

Mitchel asked that question lightly, but his tone inexplicably made others feel a chill in their hearts.

«I think it was just an accident. Raegan was kind enough to help me with the wheelchair. Something's probably wrong with him. Please don't blame her, okay?

Lauren sounded so understanding as she explained.

Mitchel looked at Lauren coldly. But soon a touch of warmth appeared in his eyes.

He reasoned that he had been wrong to suspect Lauren.

After patting him on the shoulder, she moved away from his grasp.

"Take a rest".

Lights spilled over Mitchel's handsome face.

Lauren was fascinated by his gaze.

The cunning demon in her didn't come out until Mitchel left the room.

His smile was instantly replaced by a vicious scowl.

Argh! Mitchel suspected her because of Raegan!
