«What happened to Mr. Schultz? Last night I heard noises. "It looked like they had taken him to the hospital."

«I saw it with my own eyes. Alec found him unconscious in the bathtub. He must have been submerged in the water for a long time, because when Alec pulled him out, he was very pale. He seemed lifeless.

It was terrifying. Alec performed CPR for half an hour before Mr. Schultz showed signs of consciousness. "But he feared that Mr. Schultz's brain would be damaged by lack of oxygen, so he rushed him to the hospital."

Nicole was totally shocked. So that was it. Jarrod hadn't been able to get out of the bathtub last night. That explained the silence when she left last night. He must have fainted after his attack.

At that moment, one of the maids said, “You know what? That Ms. Lawrence that Mr. Schultz brought home seems jinxed. Since she arrived, her condition has worsened. It only improved slightly for a few days and then became serious again. Now, he even drowned in the bathtub.

Isn't that too strange?

"Yeah. Poor Mr. Schultz. If Alec hadn't found him, he would already be dead.

"Indeed, what bad luck."

After this, Nicole didn't hear their voices anymore. They will have returned to their work.

Nicole froze, thoughtful. Jarrod almost died last night. I should be happy, right? But why couldn't he feel joy in his heart? Instead, the thought of his close encounter with death gave him chills. It wasn't good. It shouldn't feel like this.

Nicole convinced herself not to feel anything. I just wanted Jarrod to die miserably. But an accidental death was not what he wanted for him. After all, a man like Jarrod never feared death.

What Nicole wanted was for Jarrod to suffer in prison for the rest of his life until he realized his mistakes and repented of his sins.

For an arrogant man like him, such a life was much worse than death.

Nicole was still stunned. Before he knew it, he was out of Jarrod's room. There was no one in his room. His bodyguards had most likely followed him to the hospital. After all, he had many enemies.

Unconsciously, Nicole reached out and grabbed the doorknob. And he was surprised when he was able to turn it. His room was not locked.

She wasn't actually allowed into Jarrod's room except when she needed to take care of him.

At first, Nicole wondered why Jarrod chose to stay in this place.

But after several days, he finally understood.

Jarrod stayed here more often for his safety. The security of this place was exceptionally tight, making it difficult for strangers to enter. There must have been important and confidential documents.

Suddenly, Nicole remembered something peculiar on the headboard of Jarrod's bed. It was as if there was a hidden door.

Thinking about it, he entered and gently closed the door behind him. Then he felt around on the headboard as he tried to remember what he had observed.

Finally, he found a hidden button. It looked like a switch. He pressed it, and the entire bed moved to the side, revealing a spacious secret room.

Then, a golden cabinet glowed in the darkness. Nicole's eyes lit up when she saw him.

He approached and stood in front of the closet. However, he discovered that it was closed. And it wasn't just any lock. It was a retinal scanner lock. In short, no one could open it except Jarrod.
