The woman assumed Raegan was one of her own.

Dressed in fine clothes, Raegan seemed well-off, clearly not sharing the woman's occupation.

But to the woman, Raegan was just another poor woman abandoned by a man, no better than her. «What a spectacle! This gentleman has rejected you and here you are, shamelessly trying to win him back!

His words irritated Mitchel, who pressed his hand against the glass, about to break it. He struggled to maintain his composure, finding it difficult to tolerate any unfounded accusations leveled at Raegan. He was agitated, knowing it wasn't a good sign.

Oblivious to Mitchel's darkened face, the woman stood up, brushing past Raegan on purpose. It was a clear challenge.

Raegan, repulsed, took a step back and offered him a smile, commenting, "You don't seem to realize who's really pitiful here."

The woman's expression hardened. “What are you implying?”

Raegan's smile was weak. «Maybe I have misunderstood. “You seem to be okay with being a mistress, so perhaps my sympathy is misplaced.”

The woman was stunned by Raegan's boldness, having assumed she was of her kind. Shouldn't Raegan be trying to get Mitchel back? How could Raegan insult her in front of Mitchel?

"And? Mr. Dixon may have flirted with me, but he's not interested in you! The woman's fury twisted her features as she replied without holding back: "And who can tell you how many have flirted with you in secret? Stop acting innocent! You are not a luxury prostitute..."

Smoking at how close her plans might have been before, only to be thwarted by Raegan, the woman raised her hand in a huff, prepared to throw the drink at Raegan.

But Raegan grabbed the woman's wrist just in time. "It's not your place to say whether I'm respectable or not," Raegan stated calmly.

With her wrist held by Raegan, the woman could only watch as Raegan tilted her hand and doused herself with the drink she intended to serve Raegan.

Releasing the woman, Raegan watched the glass fall to the floor. "Remember that reckless words have consequences," he warned.

The woman was soaked and disheveled, her wrist throbbing. She wasn't sensible enough to read the room and continued to insult Raegan: "I hit a nerve, huh? All the well-groomed ladies are the same…”

"Enough!" Mitchel's voice cut through the air, deep and ready to burst.

The woman smiled with satisfaction. "It seems like he's telling you to shut up." Mitchel was beside himself with fury. What an idiot that woman was!

He snapped at him: "Idiot!"

Mr. Ortega, sensing the growing tension, regretted his decision to involve the woman, a choice he intended to please Mitchel rather than anger him. Trying to calm the situation, he joked: “Well, Mr. Dixon's attractiveness is really irresistible. You see, these two stunning women are vying for his attention. "That's something most of us can only dream about."

The room was filled with laughter at Mr. Ortega's attempt to lighten the atmosphere.

The laughter and jokes continued around them.

"It's a really strange sight."

«Sure, if Mr. Dixon wasn't here, maybe the rest of us would have a chance. But with him around, we are out of luck.

The men's jokes, fueled by alcohol, fell into rudeness.

Meanwhile, Raegan felt lost, unable to pinpoint who Mitchel was berating. Feeling out of place, he questioned the meaning of this fight. Getting into a dispute with a woman and being perceived as envious by onlookers seemed like complete nonsense to her.

Raegan turned to Mitchel, her heart frozen. "Mitchel, are you willing to just give up?"

Mitchel's expression became stern, as if he could no longer tolerate her presence here.

Raegan bit her lip, fighting back tears. «For me, okay. If it has to be, it will be. "We better not waste time."

Mitchel clenched his fists and felt a wave of anguish. Don't waste time? Was Raegan implying that she shouldn't waste hers?

«And about Stefan, we are only acquaintances. "Our meeting was chance, not what you might assume." Raegan's initial confidence had faded, leaving her in doubt. He wondered if Mitchel cared about his explanation.
