At the time, the Murray family held a birthday party for Lauren in Swynborough.

It was during the celebration that Mitchel accidentally entered the villa's storage room and stumbled upon the disconcerting scene of his father having an affair with a maid. Catching them in the dirty act had filled him with disgust.

Walking away distractedly, Mitchel had fallen into a frozen lake. It was Lauren who saw him under the ice and put a hammer through him to rescue him. He vividly remembered her words of encouragement in his ear, urging him not to give up and holding out his hand.

At that time, Lauren exuded innocence, kindness and charm. Mitchel could never have foreseen that Lauren would end up like this one day.

Although Mitchel had granted Lauren numerous opportunities to redeem herself, Lauren chose time and again to inflict harm on others, ultimately harming herself.

Watching Mitchel's thoughtful look, Erick sensed his reluctance to talk about the matter. His eyes abruptly turned cold. "Mr. Dixon, it's perfectly fine if you'd rather not go into it. It's too late. Please come back.”

"No, I can talk about it." Mitchel came back to reality. «When I was a child, I fell into a frozen lake. "Lauren was the one who rescued me."

"A frozen lake?" Erick asked, frowning. "Do you mean the lake at the Duke of Moss's mansion?"

Mitchel's gaze darkened. "How do you know that?"

“I…” Erick was about to reveal something, but stopped short.

He was about to leave for Swynborough. He would like to verify the details with the parties involved before revealing anything to Mitchel.

“Well, I've been there before,” Erick finally said. "Now I have to go."

Looking at Mitchel's pale face, he added, "Take care of yourself."

Mitchel smiled and said, "Thanks for caring."

A subtle twitch disturbed Erick's handsome features, realizing his subconscious concern for Mitchel. For Erick, considering Mitchel as part of his family and showing concern for Mitchel was an inappropriate notion.

"I'm not worried about you," Erick replied coldly.

And he entered the house without waiting for Mitchel's response.

After playing with Janey for a while, Erick left.

When Janey fell asleep, Raegan took a milk bath.

Then, getting out of the bathtub, he wrapped himself in a towel. As he passed a mirror, he stopped.

Looking at her reflection, she saw a hickey on her slender neck.

In an instant, his face turned red like a ripe apple. When had Mitchel done it? He hadn't even realized it until now.

After a moment's thought, Raegan concluded that Mitchel must have done it in his ward.

Raegan tried to remove the hickey, but the more she rubbed, the redder it became. Exasperated, she finally withdrew her hand.

Luckily, his collared shirt from earlier had covered the hickey, hiding it from Erick's view.

Raegan seethed in frustration. She swore that next time she wouldn't let Mitchel kiss her so savagely.

Next time… Wait. Why was there a next time? Stroking her slightly flushed face, Raegan inwardly scolded herself. What the hell was he imagining his future with Mitchel?

As Raegan put on her bathrobe, ready to go to bed, her phone rang.

It was Mitchel. Despite how late it was, he hadn't gone to bed yet.

Frowning, Raegan answered. Mitchel's magnetic voice echoed through the phone. "Are you asleep?"

"How am I going to answer the phone if I'm asleep?" Raegan replied in an irritated tone.

“Are you angry?” Mitchel asked.

“Well, I just found out what you did.”

"That?" Mitchel questioned, perplexed. “What is happening?”

“You…” Raegan paused, blushing. "How can you give me a hickey?"

“Oh…” Mitchel drew, clearly mocking her. «You don't like it?

Your skin is delicate. I lost a little control when kissing you.

That is the cause of the hickey. By the way, don't you think that the hickey increases your attractiveness?

"You're so annoying!" Raegan snorted.

«Well, I had listened to your words. I hugged you and then kissed you. I also wanted..."

"For!" Raegan interrupted, turning redder. "Don't you have anything else to say?"

"I just want to hear your voice." His voice, low and intimate, seemed as if he were whispering in her ear.

Suddenly, Raegan felt as if her heart had been thrown into a calm lake like a pebble, creating ripples.

"You're a bore," he declared. It had barely been two hours since they had last seen each other, and yet his words made it seem like an eternity had passed.

“Raegan…” Mitchel shouted softly.

For some reason, he sounded particularly sincere at that moment, touching Raegan's heart.

"This is the first day of our relationship," Mitchel continued.

Raegan scoffed, trying to hide her embarrassment. "I never said I wanted to date you!"

Mitchel counterattacked: "But I want to go out with you."

Unable to come up with a sharp retort, Raegan finally said, "How shameless you are!"

«I have to be. How else can I win your heart?

Suppressing a smile, Raegan replied, "It's a long way to go."

«I will be patient and I will win your heart. As long as other men don't hit on you. Mitchel's last sentence had a dangerous touch.

Undeterred, Raegan snorted. «I can't promise you that. Besides, there's nothing you can do with it.

In a low voice, Mitchel challenged: “You had kissed me and touched me.

And now you get this cold with me?

“What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Anyway, you had kissed me, so you should take responsibility.”
