Raegan was too shocked to react. At first, he thought he had heard it wrong. But it couldn't be.

Mitchel always exuded superiority and arrogance. But this time, there was a hint of submission and helplessness in his eyes. Raegan's heart skipped a beat. He seemed to really like me.

Despite the enthusiasm Raegan saw in his eyes, she couldn't bring herself to accept his proposal. Aside from his family members, he regarded others as mere passersby in his life. He didn't feel like committing too much. After all, people came and went. So even though she knew he would be disappointed, she couldn't promise him anything.

Raegan met Mitchel's expectant gaze, her lips trembling. He hesitated before finally saying, "I'm going home."

A trace of bitterness appeared on Mitchel's face. His eyes darkened, but enigmatic. I knew she wasn't easy to move. But still, he couldn't help but feel bitter at her words. He smiled wryly and nodded.

"OK. I'll walk you home."

Raegan meant that he didn't need to walk her home because it wasn't too far away. Furthermore, he had not yet fully recovered.

But before she could open her mouth, Mitchel had already gotten out of the car and was coming around to open the door for her.

Raegan got out of the car. When she raised her head, she saw Erick leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed.

Raegan's expression suddenly changed. He lowered his head and said, “You don't need to walk me home. My brother is here. “You should get back in the car.”

After saying this, he pushed him into the car and ran away without looking back.

Mitchel's handsome face immediately darkened. She didn't understand why she didn't want Erick to see her with him.

Erick watched Raegan trot towards him. His cold expression finally softened slightly.

Raegan covered her chest and gasped lightly. "Erick, I thought you had gone to bed."

Erick didn't answer. Instead, he raised his hand, checked the time on his wristwatch, and parted his thin lips slightly. «It's 8:59.

"You arrive just in time."

Raegan was speechless. So Erick was just here to make sure she got home on time. If he was so worried about her, why had he agreed to let Mitchel make a pass at her?

Raegan couldn't help but ask, "Erick, what did you and Mitchel talk about?"

Erick lowered his eyes. «It's none of your business. Come in and rest a little.

Raegan looked at Erick speechlessly. Why wasn't it his business?

Wasn't she the topic of the conversation?

Raegan stomped her foot. "If you don't tell me, I'll go out with him."

"Aren't we dating already?" A magnetic male voice suddenly sounded from behind.

Having assumed that the speaker was Erick, Raegan was about to retort but stopped when she suddenly recognized the owner of the voice. He turned his head and found Mitchel standing behind them.

Raegan's face turned crimson. He said through clenched teeth, “Enough of your nonsense!”

After saying this, he quickly entered the house.

Under Mitchel's intense gaze, Raegan almost stumbled. His movements became clumsy.

Mitchel fixed his gaze on Raegan's back, watching her until she disappeared from sight.

Having noticed Mitchel's eyes on Raegan, Erick warned, "If you dare to mistreat my sister, don't blame me for destroying you."

With Mitchel's will in Erick's possession, Erick could easily ruin Mitchel's life and business at will.

With a lot on his plate lately, Erick couldn't devote any more time to personally safeguarding Raegan and Janey, which was part of the reason he finally relented, allowing Mitchel to advance on Raegan.

Furthermore, Mitchel was undoubtedly influential in Ardlens. Having Mitchel at Raegan's side, Erick was calmer than entrusting Raegan to the care of others.

«Erick, be calm. "I will protect Raegan and Janey with my life."

Mitchel promised solemnly.

Erick liked the firmness in Mitchel's eyes, knowing that Mitchel was serious.

Erick had investigated Raegan and Mitchel's shared past, knowing that most of the misunderstanding was Lauren's doing. Even though Mitchel was once lenient towards Lauren for the supposed favor of saving her life, he later realized his mistake and made amends for his mistakes by punishing Lauren.

Erick found Mitchel's actions in sending Lauren to a mental hospital and forcing her to swallow the adulterated drink satisfactory.

However, that didn't mean that Erick had forgiven the pain and suffering that Mitchel had unknowingly put Raegan through.

If it hadn't been for Mitchel being Janey's biological father, Erick wouldn't have given Mitchel any chance to remedy it at all. Thus, Erick had tested Mitchel's character and feelings for Raegan in the long term. He would not rest until he was sure that Raegan would not come to any harm.

With things to attend to, Erick had to leave. Still worried, he asked Mitchel, "Is Lauren really dead?"

"I've asked someone to check the body," Mitchel replied.

"Good. I will be on a business trip for half a month,” Erick said.

"Understood". Mitchell nodded.

As the two men exchanged glances, Mitchel heard Erick's silent request that he keep an eye on Raegan in his absence.

When Mitchel was about to leave, Erick suddenly stopped him. "Is Lauren from the Murray family of Swynborough, known for their hotel chain?"

"Yeah. Erick, do you know the Murrays?

"My father knows Mr. Murray," Erick replied. «You mentioned that Ms. Murray saved you. Can I ask what exactly he did for you?

Instead of responding, Mitchel remained silent for a long time. His mind wandered to that fateful day. It seemed to be quite a coincidence, since it happened on Lauren's birthday, when she saved his life.
