Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 385

The next moment, the spectators fell into stunned silence.
Jarrod stabbed his leg with the knife. The searing pain brought him back to reality.
As Jarrod was about to stab himself again, Alec quickly intervened, snatching the knife from him. "Mr. Schultz! Has he gone crazy?
Alec's voice was shaking, his face drained of color.
Jarrod seemed oblivious to Alec's words. He absentmindedly scratched the wound on his leg to stay sober and refused to get up from the ground.
Concerned, Alec urgently called an ambulance.
When the emergency team arrived, Jarrod strictly forbade anyone to treat him, letting his blood drip onto the pavement.
Overcome with anxiety, Alec knelt down and pleaded with Jarrod, “Mr. Schultz, please let the doctor help you!
“No, thank you…” In a trance-like state, Jarrod refused, creating a barrier that prevented anyone from approaching. He murmured: "She...
She asked me to kneel..."
Jarrod's voice rumbled so low that Alec struggled to catch Jarrod's words, prompting him to ask again, "Mr. Schultz, what did you just say?"
"He asked me... He asked me to kneel here..." Jarrod's broken voice echoed intermittently, revealing a sense of distress.
Alec's eyes watered and he fought back sobs. "Mr. Schultz, Miss Lawrence is playing a cruel joke on you. Please get up and let the doctor examine you…”
Alec didn't dare say anything else. He had sent someone to find Nicole and beg her to save Jarrod from suffering.
However, upon being informed of Jarrod's actions, Nicole nonchalantly responded, "It's none of my business."
Wasn't it obvious? Nicole was playing with Jarrod.
Unfortunately, Jarrod didn't believe it. At that moment, only one thing occupied his mind.
Blood stained Jarrod's thin lips as he said, his voice trembling, "She said I have to kneel here until she's satisfied... Only then could she forgive me."
At dusk, lightning crossed the sky. A sudden, drenching rain followed, which sounded like a loud roar.
Jarrod, kneeling in the rain, looked eerily pale. He had been in that position for seven hours.
Far from being a relief, the heavy rain only increased his discomfort, making him feel dazed and breathless. Every breath was a struggle, muffled by the incessant rain.
Jarrod coughed continuously, his shoulders shaking with each attack.
The cough was increasingly intense and the breathing was labored.
Rainwater repeatedly filled his windpipe. Then, a metallic smell reached him: the smell of blood. A large amount of blood spilled from Jarrod's mouth, staining the ground before being washed away by the rain.
The corners of his pale, thin lips were tinted a strange, raw shade of red.
"Mr. Schultz! Alec, who had thrown the umbrella to the ground, grabbed the trembling Jarrod. From suffocation, Alec went to screaming.
"Mr. Schultz, please allow the medical team to treat you..."
Alec pleaded, desperate to ease Jarrod's pain.
Alec owed his life to Jarrod. Jarrod had saved Alec when he was a wanderer abroad.
Before Alec met Jarrod, his life was a relentless struggle.
He faced daily beatings and was treated worse than a dog. It was a distressing time for him.
But one day everything changed. Jarrod was wearing shiny leather shoes and intervened, kicking a punk off of Alec's back. At this point, Alec was lying on the ground, too beaten to lift his head.
That's when Jarrod extended his hand and asked, "Do you want to work for me?" That day marked a new beginning for Alec. It was his moment of salvation.
Jarrod taught Alec boxing and self-defense. Together, they forged a path in their careers abroad. Alec silently swore to remain loyal to Jarrod for the rest of his life.
Jarrod seemed to momentarily snap out of his delirium at the sound of Alec's voice. Jarrod managed to push Alec away, murmuring trance-like, "Nicole said she could forgive me as long as she was satisfied..."
Nicole's words consumed Jarrod. As he spoke, blood continued to ooze from the corner of his lips, making it look like his throat was full of glass shards.
Even breathing became a form of torture for Jarrod. Every time he breathed, it felt like thorny vines were sticking into his throat. His whole body ached, the pain was so intense that he thought death might be a kinder fate.
"Mr. Schultz! He's playing a joke on her. Please wake up."
Alec implored, his voice worried and desperate.
"It's not possible!" Jarrod's voice, hoarse and growling, cut through the sound of the rain. «Nicole won't cheat on me. I just don't..."
The rain intensified, pouring down as if it were going to engulf everything in its path.
Alec, looking at Jarrod's pale, trembling form, felt deep sorrow.
Jarrod was battling extreme heat and cold, a challenge for even the strongest bodies. To make matters worse, the doctor had warned that, given the condition Jarrod was in, he could suffer spasms or even die unexpectedly at any moment.
Alec considered taking Jarrod to the hospital by force, but he knew Jarrod's stubbornness all too well after working with him for eight long years. He realized that, despite the possibility of saving Jarrod's life, taking him by force could leave him with a lifetime of regrets and depression.
Alec couldn't act against Jarrod's wishes.
Alec guessed that Jarrod's stubbornness had widened the gap between him and Nicole.
As an assistant, Alec witnessed that Jarrod had done so much for Nicole in secret and couldn't bear to leave her. However, what Jarrod did and told Nicole told a different story.
With a heavy heart, Alec wiped away his tears, turned around and left.
Meanwhile, on the top floor of the Exhibition Center, Nicole had just woken up from a comfortable sleep after a massage.
Nicole received a message from Raegan, saying that Raegan had returned home to take care of Janey, who was feeling unwell.
As Nicole closed the curtains, she realized how stormy and dark the weather was outside.
