Chapter 33:

? ? ? ? ?

Mitchel simply said nonchalantly: -It doesn't matter what time it is. If it hurts so much and you can't stand it, call me.

He didn't mention anything about marriage.

Before Lauren and Jocelyn could speak, he glanced at his watch and said, “I have to go. Go to bed soon, Lauren.

Lauren and Jocelyn soon found themselves alone in the living room.

With a sad expression, Lauren collapsed on the bed and kicked like a child.

«Jocelyn, did you hear that? What did he just say?

That Raegan didn't like seeing her and that they should avoid each other from now on? What did he mean?

His implication was that he didn't want her to see Raegan ever again!

Had Raegan become that important to him? More important than her?

Lauren's breathing quickened as her face twisted in irritation.

Jocelyn quickly put her arm around Lauren's shoulder and comforted her, "Don't be sad." You shouldn't jump to conclusions. I think he just doesn't want you to have an altercation. "Keep calm."

«How can I be calm!» Lauren turned pale and said in a shaky voice, “That bitch is pregnant.”

"That!" Jocelyn was shocked.

“Are you sure?”

"Of course!" Tears continued to well up in Lauren's eyes.

"Jocelyn, what should I do?"

A sinister smile curved Jocelyn's lips as she replied, "Just make her baby disappear."

«But what if Mitchel catches me in the act? He's been suspicious of me lately.

«It would be foolish to do something like that on your own. You have to get others to do the dirty work, so your hands don't get dirty.

Jocelyn said significantly.

His eyes then landed on Lauren's neck. The red marks were exposed when Lauren moved a moment ago. It looked a lot like a hickey.

“Don't see Mitchel these days,” Jocelyn suggested, rubbing her chin.

Lauren asked, scared, "Why?"

«Men love pure women. If he sees the marks on your neck, do you think he will marry you? Jocelyn pointed out bluntly.

Hearing this, Lauren threw the objects on the table to the floor.

She had curves to die for and her face was prettier than most. His style was good too.

What more could a man want from a woman? Why didn't Mitchel love her?

Lauren had gotten all those red marks on her neck just to trick Raegan into believing her story. It hurt a lot.

After considering Jocelyn's advice, Lauren picked up the phone and dialed a number.

«Tessa? I'm sorry I didn't call you sooner. I've been a little busy lately. About that investment plan you told me about…”

It had been a week since Raegan last saw Mitchel. Maybe he was still angry with her.

Although Luciana had paid her a visit and asked about Mitchel, Raegan tactfully avoided the topic. He didn't want to create a gap between them.

Today they had to remove the stitches. Luciana called her early and offered to take her to the hospital.

Raegan had just finished dressing when the maid called her down.

As soon as he got down, he saw a man waiting at the door.

He was dressed in a dark suit, with an indifferent expression as he spoke on the phone. The gemstone cufflinks gave off a faint blue light under the sunlight. He seemed like a perfect gentleman.

The calm and collected Mitchel was back.

As long as she didn't provoke him, he wouldn't take off his mask.

Raegan looked down and took a deep breath, reminding herself not to fall in love with him again.

When Mitchel noticed her coming down the stairs, he hung up the phone and said to Raegan, "Mom has something urgent to take care of, so she asked me to come."

«You don't have to. "I can go myself." Raegan didn't want to be near him.

“I must complete the task,” Mitchel said nonchalantly, turning to leave.

What had Luciana told him to make him so determined to take her to the hospital?

Raegan followed him to the car. They both sat in the back seat, silent throughout the entire journey, as if there were an invisible barrier that neither of them dared to cross.

However, Mitchel's faint scent continued to hit Raegan.

Wow, this man smelled so good! Raegan thought unintentionally.

There might not be many opportunities to smell it in the future, so he didn't hold his breath any longer. He leaned back, closed his eyes, and inhaled the scent until he was satisfied.

They arrived at the hospital minutes later.

As Mitchel entered the building, his phone vibrated.

He took it. Raegan looked up and saw the exact name she expected. It was Lauren again. She rolled her eyes and walked past him.

I was sure Mitchel was going to spend a lot of time on the phone with Lauren. After all, they always seemed to have a lot to talk about.

However, the phone stopped ringing the next second. Matthew caught up with Raegan. He reached out to stroke her hair and asked softly, "Why are you in such a hurry?"

Raegan stiffened for a moment, ignoring Mitchel's kind gesture.

Did he reject Lauren's call? How could it be? The call was from Lauren! Lauren was the queen of his heart!

Maybe he had misread the caller ID. Mitchel would never turn down a call from Lauren.

A second after Raegan had that thought, Mitchel's phone vibrated again.

This time, Raegan saw the caller ID clearly, which said "Lauren."

The next second, the man's slender fingers decisively cut off the call and turned on silent mode.

Holy shit! Raegan froze in shock until Mitchel playfully pinched her cheek.

“What are you looking at?”

Raegan finally came to her senses. He turned his head away, avoiding her gaze and saying nothing.

Maybe he and Lauren had had a lover's quarrel. They would make peace soon, so he shouldn't give it too much importance.

Mitchel looked at his empty fingertips and his eyes darkened.

Walking into the room, Raegan saw the words “VIP Special Room” on the office table. It seemed to him that he had gone to the wrong room.

Removing stitches was not a serious procedure. A nurse could take care of it.

As he was about to get up, he heard a familiar, frivolous voice: “Raegan, please sit down.”

Raegan raised her eyes. The man in the white coat looked at her carefully with his bright peach blossom eyes. Handsome in appearance, he gave the impression of being especially inexperienced in medicine.

When Luis saw that Raegan was still standing, he smiled at her and said, "Please sit down."

«Well, it's nothing serious. “One nurse will do,” Raegan said awkwardly.

Luis giggled.

«I see that you don't trust me. Anyway, you have nothing to worry about. Although I haven't done surgery in a long time, I could manage to remove stitches.

Raegan knew Luis was being modest. He was the youngest medical doctor in Ardlens until he suddenly took a backseat to surgery when he was at the peak of his career.

No one knew why until today.

Luis was a childhood friend of Mitchel and, although Raegan knew him, they did not interact much. Raegan didn't want to bother him.

At that moment, Mitchel's familiar scent approached Raegan. Raegan felt a hand press on her shoulder before a voice came.

"Sit down."

Raegan thought that Mitchel felt like she was wasting time hesitating, so she stopped refusing and sat down obediently.

"Put your hands there, please," Luis instructed him politely.

Raegan seemed calm on the surface, but she was panicking inside.

Needles scared him very much.

Luciana wasn't here to hold her, so she didn't know how she was going to deal with this terrifying experience.

He hesitated and raised his right hand. Before Luis could touch her, she stepped back.

"Is your lack of trust in me that bad?" Luis mocked.

Raegan didn't want to waste their time, so she gritted her teeth and put her hands on the platform.

Just when Luis's fingertips were about to touch her, Mitchel stopped him, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Aren't you going to put on gloves?"

Did he have to show Luis his job? How was Luis going to touch a patient without gloves?

Luis answered calmly: "I've already washed my hands with disinfectant."

«That's not enough! “You can’t do this with your bare hands,” Mitchel insisted firmly.

Luis clicked his tongue and reluctantly put on his gloves.

He still remembered how Mitchel pressured him to come and tend to Raegan's wounds today, claiming that he feared the injuries would leave scars.

But now, Mitchel wouldn't even let him touch Raegan's hand without gloves.

Was this domineering possessiveness a sign of someone about to get divorced?

Luis smiled mischievously when an idea occurred to him. He said softly, “Raegan, can I take you on a date when you're single?”
