Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 32
Chapter 32:
? ? ? ? ?
Soon, Mitchel's handsome face became normal and his voice was indifferent.
"Don't worry. "I won't make you do that."
“Do what?” Raegan muttered with her hand still over her mouth.
The noisy wind drowned out their voices a little.
His gaze was intense as he said lovingly, “I won't force you to use your…”
“Shut up!” Raegan had heard enough. He covered her mouth with his hand.
Her soft lips felt so warm against his palm.
Raegan withdrew her hand as if it were scalded.
Mitchel's eyes dulled for a moment. He pulled out a chair, placed the medicine cabinet on it, and sat on the edge of the bed. He took out the disinfectant pad to gently clean the wound and then chose a cold ointment to apply before wrapping it in gauze.
"Has Lauren come this afternoon?" he asked.
Raegan frowned a little, reproaching him for the unexpected visit earlier.
Although he received no response, he continued: "What did he tell you?"
Raegan forced a smile and replied, "He asked me when we were getting divorced."
This was no surprise to Mitchel. He knew that Lauren wanted so badly to be his wife.
«Lauren was a spoiled child. Years ago he became seriously ill and fell into depression. He barely cares about people's feelings. I advise you to try to avoid it as much as possible.
Depression? Raegan wouldn't call Lauren depressed, and slut was the right word, given Lauren's behavior.
Besides, being depressed was no excuse for treating others like trash.
Raegan dropped her smile and rolled her eyes.
«You know what he wants, Mitchel. Once our divorce is finalized, I will never see either of them again. So why should I avoid it?
Mitchel's expression turned slightly unpleasant.
Raegan ignored her.
«When these stitches are removed, I will go talk to your mother. Rest assured that I will convince her to accept our divorce.
Thinking about the hickey on Lauren's neck, Reagan felt as sickened as if she'd eaten a fly.
The corners of Mitchel's eyes twitched. He repeated the question: “Do you really want to divorce me that badly? Is it because of that guy?
These questions reignited Raegan's emotions, which had already calmed down.
"Mitchel, aren't you the one who wants a divorce?"
"But you asked for it first!" Mitchel didn't miss the opportunity to argue.
Raegan pursed her lips guiltily. Indeed, she had brought up the subject, but it had been because he had broken her heart.
He had given everything to make that marriage work. But what did he get in return? Nothing but pain.
«Mitchel, I am a human being, not a robot. You can't expect me to see my husband getting intimate with another woman without any reaction!
Also, Henley has nothing to do with my decision to get divorced. I just went for a walk and got a cut on my feet. He was kind enough to take me to the hospital. That was it.
Now that I think about it! When you were getting close to Lauren, did it ever occur to you that you were still a married man? That counts as cheating, right?
Mitchel was stunned. It was the first time she had reproached him for his behavior.
The reprimand gave him mixed feelings.
The fact that she didn't like his closeness to Lauren made him feel good. But again...
"Well, about that, I'll be more careful."
Raegan scoffed. Too late. What was the point of being more careful when he'd slept with Lauren?
She continued, "I'm ready to get divorced, so please ask Lauren to stay calm and not come to me again." You know me, Mitchel. Don't bring Henley into this. Otherwise, I will hate you!
There were no romantic feelings between her and Henley. He was only nice to her because they were once schoolmates.
It was disgusting for Mitchel to think that she was fucking him.
Furthermore, she didn't want her decade-long love to turn into severe hatred.
Time stopped for a second.
Looking at her, Mitchel's eyes seemed to contain a hint of a smile.
Suddenly, he started laughing. It was a mocking laugh.
"That? Are you afraid that I will take care of your new lover?
His words prompted Reagan to reply, "Mitchel, don't think everyone is like you."
She had never cheated on him. And even if he had, why did he think he had the right to judge her when he had already blatantly deceived her? What a hypocrite!
«Oh, yes? What do I like? »
His piercing eyes shone as he grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. He mockingly asked, "Since I've been fucking you for two years, what kind of man am I?"
Raegan struggled fruitlessly.
«Mitchel! Can you stop being so nasty? Why don't you go meet Lauren since you have desires?
A spark lit in Mitchel's eyes. His face was scary.
The mocking smile on his lips disappeared when he released her. He asked coldly, “Is that what you really want?”
Raegan pursed her lips. Wait, was that what I wanted?
Could I say no?
He had just expressed his innermost thoughts, right?
After all, Lauren was the only one enjoying the affection she so desired.
Mitchel's heart was closed to everyone else.
Raegan wanted a faithful husband. I didn't want his love anymore.
Raegan closed her eyes and said, “Yes!” This single word exhausted all his strength.
No words were said for half a minute. When Raegan heard the door close, she collapsed on the bed, tears flowing like a river.
It was as if the band-aid had been ripped off his broken heart.
It hurt him. It hurt him a lot.
Raegan began to wonder.
Why did her heart ache for Mitchel? He had been unfaithful to her, right?
At the hospital.
When Mitchel walked in, he saw that Lauren was lying on the bed and Jocelyn was giving her a drink.
As soon as Lauren saw him, she motioned for Jocelyn to make tea.
"Lauren, did you ask the driver to take you to my house today?"
Mitchel was expressionless, giving off a cold aura.
“Yes, I did.”
Looking at Mitchel's cold face, Lauren felt a little uncomfortable. He said softly, “Earlier, I went there to give Raegan some fish soup to help her recover faster. But it seems she was not happy with my visit.
"Since she was not happy, you should avoid each other from now on."
Mitchel said nonchalantly.
«I swear, I have no bad intentions against Reagan. I just went there to express my gratitude to him for taking such good care of you. But when I came out, I realized that I didn't look good.
Lauren tugged on the sleeve of Mitchel's shirt and asked with mock concern, "Is something wrong with him?"
"No." His tone suggested he was done with the conversation.
“Mitchel, are you mad at me for visiting Raegan without telling you? If so, I promise not to go there again. My curiosity led me there. "I just wanted to see the severity of his injuries."
As he spoke, tears came to his eyes and he cried very sadly.
“Did Raegan say something to you?”
When Mitchel saw Lauren crying again, her eyebrows furrowed as she said softly, “Stop crying. "I'm not angry with you."
At this moment, Jocelyn returned with a cup of tea in her hand. He quickly gave Lauren a tissue and said anxiously, “Lauren, you didn't sleep well last night because of the pain, and now you're crying so hard. Isn't the pain getting worse? If your father finds out, he will be heartbroken.
Mitchel furrowed his eyebrows.
«Did it hurt again last night? Why didn't you tell me?
«I have experienced worse things, so I decided to endure it. Besides, it was already late. “I didn't want to bother you then,” Lauren explained pitifully.
She mastered the art of not going too far.
At that point, Jocelyn intervened: “Lauren, I don't think Mr. Dixon would mind being bothered. You are about to get married. Why be so polite?
It was an obvious hint.
After saying that, the two looked at Mitchel impatiently. They were waiting for his response.
