Chapter 1619:

At this thought, Jarrod's face hardened. He had been more than kind to Doreen and her mother, driven in part by family ties. However, if they posed a threat to his son, he would not hesitate to act without mercy.
Doreen’s feeling of injustice lingered, her tears flowing as she pleaded, “Jarrod, how could you do this?” Can't you just say one word and settle it? If you disapprove, would she dare to hurt me…?”
Jarrod's expression turned resolute. “I cannot dictate for Nicole. If you seek reconciliation, do so sincerely. However, your subsequent actions are beyond my control.”
Jarrod had been clear. I have refused to help Doreen.
In her despair, Doreen felt as if her world had been plunged into darkness. “It's all your fault!” she screamed, her eyes brimming with hatred as she pointed accusingly at Nicole.
"You're the reason the Watts family, the Hampton family, is after me. My life is ruined because of you."
Doreen harbored a desire to dismantle Nicole, but Nicole found the situation amusing. “Miss Schultz, by what authority do you accuse me? I have never provoked you. Every problematic case has its origin in your actions.”
Doreen had been spoiled as a child, but did that justify trampling on others? Did it justify putting up with bullying and stifling her complaints?
Doreen cried hysterically: "If you hadn't seduced Roscoe, would he have treated you like that? Why you and not others?"
This question became even more absurd. Nicole discerned Doreen's abilities to manipulate the situation, trying to induce her to reflect on her guilt.
If Nicole had been susceptible to manipulation, she wouldn't have lasted until today.
“Interesting,” Nicole laughed. “If a dog bites me, do I have to think about why it has suddenly become aggressive?”
Nicole continued: “No. “I don’t converse in animal language, and I certainly won’t sympathize with a beast.”
“What nonsense are you saying?” Doreen was incredulous that Nicole would compare her to a dog. She had never faced such an insult in her entire life!
“You dare to insult me, you poisonous woman! Jarrod, witness her audacity in cursing me before your eyes. Think of what she might be plotting behind your back. “She may even have had a hand in today’s misfortune.”
Nicole was unfazed by such outrageous accusations. Since she hadn't committed any crime, why would she panic?
She also knew full well that she, Doreen, Vicki and Jamie were fundamentally different. While she maintained a moral compass, they were selfish beings ruled by their emotions.
“You're overanalyzing. I would never stop at your level. If you have evidence, present it—your statement, right here,” Nicole delighted in watching Doreen’s expression change.
Nicole giggled. Doreen deserved it. As a victim, why should she reflect on herself? If not for Jarrod's timely intervention, that bottle of sulfuric acid might have left her scarred.
Even if she had not done so, the acid splashes would have caused serious damage. She was still pregnant and, if she had been injured, she could have lost the fetus.
Doreen's actions bordered on attempted murder. So, despite Doreen's previous suffering, Nicole felt no compassion for her. Because she had been mistreated by others, Doreen sought revenge against her. If retaliation were justified, Nicole would be the rightful perpetrator.
“Jarrod, is this the woman you love? Would you leave me for her? She lacks fundamental empathy! How can you trust Austin’s well-being to such a malevolent person?”
