Chapter 1616:

? ? ? ? ?

“Do you know that you almost killed Roscoe? After you got married, you never once spoke to him. Everything you did was out of fear that your misdeeds would be discovered. Stop lying to yourself. You can’t hide your dirty deeds under noble pretenses.”

Nicole laid bare all of Doreen's crimes without holding back. Doreen and Hallie were two peas in a pod who shared the same traits.

At his words, Doreen became hysterical.

«You're lying! I love Roscoe. If it weren't for you, he would have loved me! So what if I manipulated him into marrying me? No one else can love him as much as I do. "You have no right to question me."

Nicole let out a sarcastic giggle and questioned, “Your so-called love is actually hurting Roscoe. What kind of love does that?”

“He belongs to me! I fell in love with him on our first blind date. If he didn't like me, why would I go?” Doreen replied, with her twisted logic.

As Doreen's arguments became more and more outlandish, Nicole became perplexed. Something seemed fundamentally wrong with Doreen.

Nicole felt it was crucial to discuss Doreen's condition with Jarrod and recommend a psychiatric evaluation. Was there any problem with her mental health?

Anger distorted Doreen's features as she spat, "It's all your fault! You seduced my uncle and my husband."

Nicole was speechless in the face of such baseless accusations.

This echoed what Hallie had stated earlier. Nicole realized that arguing was pointless with someone so irrational. Doreen seemed consumed by distorted thoughts.

Eager to end the pointless interaction, Nicole turned to leave, but Doreen was quick to follow. Her face contorted with fury, she brandished a bottle and screamed, “Go to hell! I'll destroy you! If you leave, Roscoe will surely love me forever.”

At that moment, Rhett, who happened to be driving by, noticed the altercation and shouted, "Miss Lawrence, be careful!"

He stopped the car abruptly, threw open the door and ran to the scene.

Since Jarrod's bodyguards had just escorted Hallie away, Nicole was left virtually unprotected.

Nicole was unsure of the contents of Doreen's bottle, but she feared the worst. As she opened the bottle, a pungent, acrid smell assaulted her senses.

Nicole immediately recognized it as sulfuric acid. Doreen was trying to ruin her face. Doreen must have lost her mind.

Reacting instinctively, Nicole raised her hand to protect her face and tried to avoid Doreen, who was alarmingly close.

Just as Nicole was preparing for the sulfuric acid burn, she heard a loud bang.

Doreen had been kicked aside, falling to the ground.

However, sulfuric acid was already cascading through the air.

Before Nicole could understand the danger she was in, a figure rushed over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He carefully protected her belly, mindful of her pregnancy.

Without seeing his face, Nicole knew that Jarrod was her protector.
