Chapter 1602:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole vividly recalled that Austin had been unintentionally conceived. At first she feared for Austin's survival in her womb, but he had proven to be resilient, defying the odds and thriving despite initial problems.

However, the subsequent complications arising from her relationship with Jarrod had caused her considerable distress. Austin had become his Achilles heel, a vulnerability that Jarrod was aware of. As a result, she would never acknowledge her pregnancy.

Jarrod pulled a medical chart from his desk and approached her, stating, “Nicole, I don’t make unfounded assumptions.”

The document meticulously described Nicole's checkup and the medications prescribed.

With unwavering resolve, Jarrod declared, “I will not allow you to terminate this pregnancy.”

As soon as Jarrod had the medical records, he quickly contacted Nicole, having anticipated her resistance and prepared himself mentally. He was willing to compromise whatever was necessary to preserve his son.

It was his child, the child of the woman he wanted. When he found out about Nicole's pregnancy, all his jealousy and resentment became irrelevant. His only wish was for Nicole to carry the pregnancy to term.

If it was a boy, he would train him to help Austin run the family business, envisioning the brothers as formidable forces in the Ardlens' market. If it was a girl, she would be adored by the Schultz family, loved by Austin as much as by himself, and lead a life filled with happiness and devoid of care.

When Nicole's eyes regained focus, she smiled bitterly and sardonically. Then, there was a cracking sound as Nicole's hand connected with Jarrod's face. Five finger marks were imprinted on Jarrod's beautiful right cheek, evidence of the force of Nicole's blow.

Nicole's scream was dripping with venomous hatred. "How dare you tell me to keep this baby! What right do you have? This child has nothing to do with you."

Unfazed, Jarrod stepped forward, gripping Nicole's shoulders firmly as his lips curved into a slight smile. “I know this child is mine, Nicole. “You cannot terminate the pregnancy.”

"Can't I?" Nicole burst into a loud, bitter laugh.

“Jarrod, who are you to dictate what I can and cannot do? Let me tell you, I will terminate this pregnancy without hesitation. Do you really think you can watch me endlessly? Are you going to assign someone to watch me 24 hours a day, never taking a break? When I walk into the bathroom, there will surely be no one watching me. I have countless means of ending this pregnancy. Do you really think you can control me?”

Nicole fixed Jarrod with a chilling look. “Stop kidding yourself, Jarrod. Do you really think you deserve to be the father of my child?”

Jarrod's face, now adorned with the crimson imprint of his slap, remained composed. He said calmly, "Nicole, I understand that you want to leave me, but until this child is born, I cannot consent to a divorce. If you wish to maintain a relationship with Austin after the divorce, you will have to carry this pregnancy "to finish."

Although outwardly calm, Jarrod was internally struggling with a storm of emotions. He had prepared himself to let go. Nicole's affection for him had long since waned despite his efforts to reconcile.

As Mitchel had pointed out, forcing her to stay by his side would only lead to mutual destruction. For the sake of his son, he must not rush into it.

If Nicole had anyone to blame, it should be her unborn child at such an inopportune time. However, Jarrod would never allow her to terminate the pregnancy. He understood that it could be their last bond.

Nicole was speechless and muttered, “You’re delusional!”
