Chapter 1520:

? ? ? ? ?

Roscoe guided Nicole deftly through the winding forest, moving as if he knew every twist and turn.

“How do you know all this?” Nicole whispered.

“I watched as I moved around during the day,” Roscoe replied. Everyone thought he was just another mindless puppet under the control of the parasites, so his random wandering around the valley seemed harmless.

In reality, Roscoe used these moments to study the ways and learn how witches directed and manipulated their environment. Like Nicole, he did not subscribe to the myths of witchcraft, although he recognized the mind-control power of these parasites.

In the darkest moments, when parasites dominated his mind, Roscoe's efforts to fight their influence were beyond description.

Roscoe led Nicole to the bank of a river, stopped, then pulled out a small glass vial and hung it around Nicole's neck. He explained, "This is soul-soothing grass. Keep it on, and follow the river. It will lead you to the exit."

Nicole hesitated, realizing that Roscoe wasn't going to leave with her. She paused before asking, "What about you?"

“I'm not leaving yet,” Roscoe replied. “You'd better get going. “I can buy you some time.”

“Why don't you go with me?” Nicole asked, bewildered.

«I have discovered that their boss is staying young by consuming human blood. She intends to transfer her soul into another body, a feat rumored to have only been accomplished by one person before. The witches fully believe this, and that is why they captured you. "You were selected by their snake spirit due to your body's unique energy."

Roscoe continued: “Emerie had taken the snake spirit with her. When we met at the hospital, the snake spirit became excited at the sight of you. So Emerie arranged everything to ensure your capture.”

It was the first time Nicole had heard such a strange story. However, considering the conversations she had secretly overheard between the white-haired boss and Emerie, she realized that Roscoe was telling the truth. As hard as it was to believe, she could no longer deny the absurdity of reality.

Roscoe added: “Emerie is next in line to be the boss. She claimed to be over eighty years old, but she kept her youth alive through blood transfusions and pills made from parasites. “They keep many victims alive here because of their need to suck blood.”

The depth of his madness horrified Nicole. She asked, “What if the soul transfer doesn't work?”

Roscoe paused, visibly uncomfortable with the details. However, he continued, “If you fail, you are submerged in a special alcohol solution. If you survive an hour, your soul weakens, allowing the boss's soul to invade and replace yours. They consider this a success.”
