Vicki's eyes widened in shock. She struggled to understand Nicole's insinuation.

Nicole deliberately elucidated, “Weren’t you eager to introduce me to your brother to become his lover?”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Vicki replied, her voice slowly fading as a wave of guilt washed over her.

“What nonsense?” Nicole repeated. “Didn’t you promise me that if I accepted, you would arrange for me to meet Austin in three months?”

The moment those words escaped Nicole's lips, Jarrod's demeanor turned icy.

Seeing his icy expression, Vicki's heart sank. She cursed silently. Nicole was just like her hated son, formulating words full of insinuation. She didn't dare to respond hastily.

Through gritted teeth, Vicki replied, “I have never made such statements. Don’t try to tarnish my reputation with such baseless accusations.”

Nicole let out a high-pitched, scornful laugh.

Vicki's composure faltered as Jarrod's silence persisted, leaving her helpless. “You send me, don't you? That’s why you’ve orchestrated these malicious falsehoods through your son.”

Despite its absurdity, the accusation resonated with Vicki, presenting a disturbing plausibility. How could Austin, so young and innocent, orchestrate such calculated malice without Nicole's influence? What motivation could Nicole have, if not to win Austin back? Maybe even for Jarrod's sake?

A wave of panic washed over Vicki as the thought struck her. How nerveless that Nicole wanted to take Jarrod away from her!

She was about to become Jarrod's legally wedded wife, and once Austin was eliminated and she gave Jarrod his child, it would be his, unequivocally. She refused to let anyone dismantle the perfection of her life.

Nicole’s response dripped with sardonic amusement. “What reason would I have to send you, Vicki? Your ruthless behavior?”

“You've found out about my upcoming wedding with Jarrod and now you're trying to steal him from me, aren't you? I'm warning you; it won’t happen!” Vicki's mind sank as Nicole's attempt on usurping Jarrod into her head and she lost control. “Don't you dare try to take my husband away from me, you shameless woman.”

“Hahaha…” Nicole couldn’t help but laugh. “Vicki, aren't you calling Jarrod husband too soon? When did Jarrod get a marriage certificate from you? Why was it kept a secret?”

Vicki was certain that she would become Jarrod's legitimate wife and calmly replied, "I'll soon be Mrs. Schultz. Jarrod assured me that it will happen next week..."

“You won't be next week,” Nicole quickly interrupted.
