Chapter 1426:

? ? ? ? ?

Her boyfriend objected: "You used to sneak it out."

“That was before. Now I can't taste anything, so I drink it obediently. “I don’t care how bitter it is,” the girl replied, in a resolute tone.

Her boyfriend fell silent, his eyes briefly darkening with sadness.

The girl playfully declared, “I win. “Honey, you lose.”

The girl's energetic attitude captivated Nicole, who had never met someone so persistently positive.

The couple engaged in casual conversation, and Nicole thought they were the happiest people in the world, oblivious to adversity.

Their joy was contagious until Jarrod stepped in. “It's our turn.”

This brought Nicole back to the reality of the situation.

The girl, still smiling, turned to Nicole and Jarrod. “I wish you a happy marriage.”

Nicole felt a pang of sadness at this statement, for having predicted what was in store for her and Jarrod. But she kept her thoughts to herself, hoping the girl could retain her blissful ignorance forever.

After a pause, Nicole reached into her handbag, pulled out a business card and handed it to the girl. “If you want to travel the world, start with Uchaesau. It's beautiful. This card is for my old colleague, who can show you around.”

The girl accepted the card gratefully. “Thank you, miss.”

“It's nothing,” Nicole replied warmly.

The marriage registration process went smoothly.

When the official stamped the seal on the marriage certificate, Nicole felt as if the seal had been stamped on her heart as well. Overwhelmed, she realized that she was now married, and reality washed over her in surreal waves.

Before Nicole could even grab the marriage certificate, Jarrod snatched it away from her, assertively stating, “I’ll keep it.”

Jarrod put the document in his pocket. His look suggested that he was afraid Nicole might take the certificate and file for divorce immediately.

Nicole remained silent, her spirits sinking even further. Obtaining the marriage certificate did nothing to ease her worries.

It merely postponed some of her immediate problems, leaving her with a multitude of unresolved issues.

As she walked out, Nicole noticed the young couple she had met earlier.

The girl received a jubilant call, hugging her boyfriend passionately. “Honey, we just won the first prize! “They are going to sponsor our world tour,” she exclaimed happily.

"Really?" her boyfriend asked, overcome with emotion.

“Yes, really! It is sponsored by the Schultz Group, a big, legitimate company,” she explains enthusiastically.

Nicole looked at her, shocked by the news, and turned to Jarrod.

Jarrod's response was a mixture of pride and joy. "She says I'm handsome and that makes me happy."
