Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 1417
Chapter 1417:
? ? ? ? ?
Jarrod already knew that he had no chance of getting Nicole. He understood that he would lose her forever if he didn't take advantage of this moment.
From the beginning, she had been competing for custody of Austin, with the goal of using Austin as a means to keep her close.
Whether his actions were seen as dishonest or despicable was irrelevant to him. His only desire was to keep Nicole around by using Austin.
However, even after losing the custody case, Nicole showed no signs of budding.
Jarrod felt a chilling determination to let her go, but recognized that his resolve was faltering. The total collapse came sooner than I had anticipated.
Watching the footage of Vicki and Doreen's attack on Nicole, could he not be affected? Far from it. He was devastated, the anguish almost overwhelming him. He couldn't bear to see her treated so badly.
However, Jarrod knew that now was not the time to reveal any vulnerability. He had to maintain a cool facade. It was all because Nicole seemed indifferent to whether he cared or not.
If he showed his true feelings, he felt that her tenderness and pain could make him lose her forever.
Jarrod grabbed Nicole's face tightly, forcing her to look at him.
"Nicole, have you ever thought about asking me?"
As he pondered this, his frustration grew, almost driving him mad.
"Why didn't you come to me instead when you went to beg Vicki?"
Did she detest him to the point that she would rather act desperately than soften her behavior towards him? If that was her stance, then she shouldn't blame him for resorting to cunning and despicable tactics just to force her to be by his side.
Jarrod tightened his grip on his fingers and declared, "I offer you this one condition, this one chance. If not, there will be a second Vicki, a third Vicki, and on and on."
Jarrod reproached himself for not going further with Nicole. The brief contact he had had with her had ignited every nerve in his body.
Now he burned with the desire to immobilize her, to fuse her with his essence until she could not escape nor tempt another soul.
Nicole's drunken slip with the name "Roscoe" continued to irritate Jarrod, like a thorn stuck under his skin, igniting the desire to find and eliminate Roscoe.
“Jarrod, can you look at me and honestly say that you have been fair to our son and me?” Nicole challenged him, anguish etched in her bloodshot eyes. At that moment, she loathed the man looming over her.
"Why do I have to beg you? Isn't Austin your own blood?"
“I understand that I've hurt you both, but you haven't given me the chance to make things right,” Jarrod countered, feeling the hollow ring of his words reverberate through the air like an echo in an empty cavern. However, his desperation to hold on to Nicole eclipsed any hint of pride or shame.
“Nicole, all I ask is that you be there for Austin as his mother and that you stay with me. I promise to give you the respect you deserve and to do everything I can to make things work out for both you and Austin. But if you refuse, those opportunities will be lost forever.”
Jarrod's reasoning was cold and methodical, like a shrewd merchant making a deal. He aimed for a transaction in which Nicole's wishes would become the bargaining chip, exchanged for her steady companionship at his side.
“Jarrod, why are you acting like this?” Nicole's frustration boiled over and her voice filled with emotion. “What we have is not love. There is no genuine connection between us.
Nicole's frustration and despair finally erupted like a volcano. She had exhausted all avenues in her entanglement with Jarrod, unable to convince him and unwittingly putting Roscoe in danger. Now she felt trapped in a desperate situation, completely lost.
As Jarrod's fingers tenderly caressed her wound, a shadow flickered in her eyes, hinting at a deep darkness within. “I’ve realized that love, or the lack of it, no longer matters to me.”
His new creed was possession, holding the person he yearned for captive at his side. Everything else, even love, was nothing more than an illusion, an elaborate farce.
“Nicole, you have three days to make a decision,” Jarrod proclaimed, calmly ascending to his full height, exuding an aura of serene calm. “Whatever path you choose, it will be final.”
