Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 36
Xavier’s POV
I smirked as I saw the sight of the two rogues. They were put in cells, two separate cells of course, where they were sprayed with wolf’s bane everyday since they got here. I was busy with Celeste being in heat so I needed a way to keep them weak until I could deal with them.
There were four guards in here. Two outside each of their cells. There was also two guards outside of the cellars at all times. After Christopher got away, I am not taking any more chances. I can’t risk Celeste’s safety anymore than it already has been.
I went into the cell with the grey eyed man and leaned against the wall in front of him. He was chained to the cot that was in the corner of the room. He also had wolf’s bane injected into his bloodstream so he can’t shift.
His grey eyes glowed intensely as he stared at me.
“My, my, my the famous Alpha of the Paramount pack. We didn’t get formally introduced the other night. Such a shame. I think we could have been good friends,” he said sarcastically. He laughed to himself, his dirty salt and pepper hair bouncing every now and then.
“What are you?” His eyes went straight back to mine and glowed again. “While you are a wolf, you are something else too, aren’t you?” He shrugged, a careless smile making its way onto his lips.
“There is a possibility that I am. But I do love the guessing game! Go on!” He said excitedly. “Guess!”
“That isn’t how this is going to work.” His grin went away, a scowl replacing it. “You are going to tell me the answers that I want to know. Then I will ask your little friend, that is if he is still alive. I had people rough him up a little too much.” It was partially true. I had more wolves bane injected into his bloodstream than I would for a regular person, but he looked like he would need it to be able to keep his wolf down.
“Fine. You want to know what I am? What my friend is? We’re experiments.” With that his eyes glowed again. My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. What kind of experiments? What did he mean? Was he even telling the truth?
“What do you mean?” He smiled that careless grin and I wanted to slap him across the face.
“Guess!” I growled at him but his grin didn’t leave.
“I’m done with that subject. Next subject: who sent you?” He brought his hand up and put one finger in front of his lips.
“It’s a secret,” he said in a whisper. I growled at him and walked out of the cell. I closed the gate like door.
Right before I left completely, I said, “Soak him in wolf’s bane.” As I walked away his screams could be heard along with the sound of rushing water that I knew had wolf’s bane in it.
I walked two cells over and walked in, nodding at the guards. The bald one, with the scars all over his head, who looked like he was on steroids took up about half of the small cell. He smiled at me, a sickening grin that made him even uglier than before.
“Can you hear that?” I asked him. “The screams of your friend. That is going to go on for another twenty minutes. The same, maybe even worse, will happen to you if you don’t answer my questions.” He c****d his head to the side and rolled his eyes.
“Who sent you?” He sealed his lips shut. I rolled my eyes at him and smirked. “Twenty minutes.” His eyes widened as grey eye’s screams echoed throughout the cellars. “Would you like to try that again?” He sneered at me and nodded. “Who sent you?”
“Malum,” he spit out. Malum? That’s the guy who Celeste said is like the king of the rogues. The one who took Lycer, Celeste’s friend and protector. That struck another question in my mind.
“The boy who was taken, I don’t know when, but his name is Lycer, why was he taken?” The man chuckled. Good. That must mean that he at least knows a little.
“I’m surprised your mate told you about him. If she was my mate I would want to kill any person who marked my mate in any way.” I growled at him. He was right. I wanted to tear him apart until he was nothing but shreds of flesh and bone for marking Celeste but I can’t. Celeste clearly only sees him as a friend and she would hate me if I hurt him. I need him safe. I owe him that much for protecting Celeste all those years.
“Forty. Every time you don’t answer a question I am adding twenty minutes of pain. Half of what you have by the end is being added to your friends time.” He growled, his veins popping out even more than usual. His scars on the top of his head seemed more prominent than before. “Let’s try again, shall we?”
He got up, trying to intimidate me probably, but was pulled back from the chains made of enchanted metal. That kind of metal was expensive but unbreakable and will last for hundreds of years.
“Why was he taken?” He mumbled a few choice words under his breath.
“He knows the secret.”
“What secret?”
“I don’t know.” I was about to say sixty when he quickly adds, “Malum never tells us! He refuses to let anyone know!” I nod.
“Is he alive?” He nods his head. “Is he well?” He bites his lips for a minute before shaking his head no.
“Malum tortures him every week or two to try and get information about the secret but he never budges. It was only lately that he started to show reactions to anything.”
“Why?”
“Because he mentioned her. Malum mentioned Celeste and he showed actual emotion other than pain.” I growled. That’s why they want Celeste, because they can get a reaction out of him if they have her. I refuse for it to happen.
“Final question.” He takes a deep breath. Looks like the huge tough guy isn’t completely tough after all. “Where is your hideout?” He shakes his head.
“That is one thing I refuse to say.”
“Sixty minutes. Let’s try again. Just one last time. I don’t have all day to spend here. Where is your hideout?”
“Bite me a*****e,” he sneers making a laugh bubble in my throat.
“80 minutes. Actually, I’m feeling generous so I’ll make it better. For me of course. 100 minutes. In case you were wondering, that is over an hour of t*****e. Have fun.” I walked out of his cell and the guards had already started the wolf’s bane that he was being drenched in. I listened to the duet of screams as I left the cellars wishing that I could have figured out where Lycer was. Celeste would want him safe.
