Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 35
Zay’s POV
“Good morning, my darling,” I whisper in Kaleshia’s ear. I k**s her temple and she pushes me away, pulling the covers over her head. She g*****d in annoyance as I tickled her sides, trying to get her out of bed.
She pulls off the blanket and shoots me a glare. “I hate you.” I chuckle as her blue eyes darken in frustration. Her eyes turn to different shades of blue whenever she feels certain emotions. My favorite is when they turn baby blue. She looks beautiful like that.
“No you don’t.” She turned away from me and I pouted. “Don’t be like that! I was just fooling around.” She turns back around to me and frowns.
“Fooling around? You call waking me up at five in the morning fooling around? You must be Lucifer if you call that fooling around.” I rolled my eyes and wrapped my hands around her waist.
“Please, you know Lucifer was killed hundreds of years ago. Your ancestors were a part of that war my darling. You have always loved that story.” It was her favorite story. She had told it to me a hundred times but I never made her stop. If it made her happy then it makes me happy.
“That’s why you must have been reincarnated from him. Seriously? Five in the morning?” I laughed at her and leaned forward, pecking her lips. She hummed and smiled against my lips. She pulled back and said, “Now that is how you should have woken me up in the first place.”
“I know, but I just love it when you are mad at me. You look so. . . Cute.” She scowled and got out of bed, letting her perfect curves grace my morning. She put on a pair of jeans and a loose crop top. I got up and changed into a pair of jeans and a blue shirt, not caring what I was wearing since I was just going to put my white coat over it once I got to my office.
“So why did you wake me up this early?” I shrugged.
“So I could see you before I went off to work. I have a few things that I have to do before Celeste comes in today so I thought I should get an early start.” She glares at me.
“You, my love, better make some damned good coffee to make up for this.” She walked out of our bedroom and I followed her to the kitchen. A few stray pack members were up and eating breakfast. Not many people lived in the pack house but a lot of them came here for breakfast so they could go to training right after. It was Wednesday, so both men and women were here.
I walked over to the coffee pot and made extra strong coffee. I made myself and Kaleshia a cup, hers black and mine with cream, no sugar. I handed her, her cup with a smile. We sat in a comfortable silence just drinking our coffee. I set my cup down and got up.
“I’ll see you later my darling.” She nodded and pecked my lips. I walked to my office and started on my two, maybe three hours of paperwork.
Celeste showed up around nine, wearing light jeans and one of Xavier’s shirts that she had tied around the waist so it didn’t go to her knees. I smiled at her as she sat down next to me.
“Good morning Zay!” I smiled at her and went back to the paperwork, finishing the last sheet.
“So Celeste, are you ready to learn how to deal with magical injuries?” She nodded. She had been doing really well with medical training for normal injuries but today we would start with magical injuries. They were tricky sometimes but she had to be taught about it if she wanted to be fully helpful.
“Yeah, sure. I can’t wait. And I’m not kidding. I was holed up in mine and Xavier’s room for three days. I need to do something other than watch TV and sleep.” I chuckled.
“At least that is all you did. It is already hard enough to deal with one pregnant werewolf around here, I don’t want to deal with you being pregnant at the same time.” She blushed bright red but awkwardly laughed it off anyways.
“How do you even know if we did it or not?” I laughed at her meek voice. She was too innocent for her own good.
“You don’t smell like him. Not in the way that you would if you mated with him anyways. You always smell like him in some way though. Like right now you are wearing his shirt. I know he does it to try and make you comfortable, but his wolf just thinks of it as marking his territory until you two mate.” She shrugged, not caring.
“Our wolves are just really possessive. You should know that with your mate being a magi.” I nodded. She had a point. I was really possessive when it came to her. Whenever she was gone my wolf would wine, saying that another person could be hitting on her. I knew she wouldn’t actually go for any of them, of course. We did have an agreement though. Our agreement was that if she was gone for too long and needed to feed she could feed off of the l**t of some loser guy. She never actually takes the guys serious, she just messes with them so she has enough energy to get back to me.
“Can I-” Celeste paused and took a deep breath. “Can I ask you a question Zay?” I glanced at her and nodded. She took a few deep breaths, seeming slightly scared and nervous.
“Um, please don’t laugh at me.” I nodded my head, a frown coming across my face. I moved my chair so I was right in front of her. I put my hand on her lower arm and rubbed it slightly in a soothing manner.
“I promise you that I won’t.” She smiles and looks down to fiddle with her sleeves.
“When did you first know that you were in love with Kaleshia?” I smiled brightly.
“I knew that I was in love with her when my heart would flutter every time I saw her. When just the thought of her got me excited. When I was able to visualize my future with her.” I smiled, deciding to tease her. “Why do you want to know?” She blushed bright red, her heart rate picking up.
“No reason.”
