Xavier’s POV

In all honesty, I wanted to rip Christopher’s head off. He had hurt my mate terribly and I wanted him to pay for it. I wanted him to go through every pain that he made her go through and then have him drown in wolf’s bane.

But I couldn’t do that.

My sister is his mate. I don’t want my sister to feel the pain of losing her mate. That is an unbearable pain that I have seen many go through. They get depressed to the point where they either commit suicide or live on as an empty void. I refuse for that to happen to my sister.

I g***n in annoyance. My own thoughts were giving me a headache. I looked down to Celeste. After what happened I had one of the pack members make dinner and bring up two servings for Celeste and I. We lay on the bed and watched TV the whole night and a bit after ten Celeste fell asleep.

It’s now midnight and I’m still up. My thoughts are keeping me up and it is really annoying. I have a meeting in two days, an Alpha, his mate, and his niece coming tomorrow and I’m not able to get my brain to shut up.

Trying to focus on the fact that I am meeting an Alpha tomorrow and I need my sleep, I pull Celeste closer to me. I let her curl into me before tightening my grip on her. One of my hands goes to her lower back and the other tangles in her long beautiful brunette hair. I inhaled her scent until I drift into a dream about Celeste, the future, and I.

“Xavier. . .” I sigh at the sound of my lovely mate’s voice but refuse to wake up. I barely had any sleep and I’d like to get some more. “Xavier, there is someone outside of the door.” I feel her move closer to me making me chuckle. Apparently I’m not the only one who doesn’t want to get up.

I heard another pounding at the door. “Xavier please it’s hurting my ears.” I opened my eyes. I looked down to my chest where Celeste was covering her ears. Another pounding at the door made her wince. I growled and got up, Celeste moving off of me to hide under the covers.

I walked towards the door, not caring that I was only wearing boxers. I pulled open the door, almost breaking it off of its hinges.

“What?” I growled. Jared’s eyes widened.

“Sorry Xavier. It’s usually hard to wake you up.”

“Well you woke up Celeste. She has a more sensitive hearing than me during the mornings.” I was a hard person to wake up in the mornings so Jared was used to having to pound on the door. Now that Celeste was here they wouldn’t need to do that.

“Sorry. Alpha Weiss is almost here. I just thought I’d let you know.” I nodded. Of course he would be here early in the mornings when I was peacefully sleeping.

“If he arrives before I’m ready tell him to meet me in the office.” Jared nodded and walked off back down the hallway. I shut the door and grumbled a few choice words under my breath. I laid back down on the bed and removed the blanket that was covering Celeste. I pulled her to me and sighed.

“Don’t you need to get ready?” Her sweet voice drifted into my ears.

“No,” I mumbled. “Let him wait. I am very comfortable here.” I could basically feel her cheeks heating up. I chuckled at my little mate.

“Xavier, get up.” Despite her words she moved closer to me and let her head rest on my chest.

“And why should I?” She moved to where her beautiful brown eyes stared into my green ones. Her eyes were beautiful. Three different shades of brown all melted together. The outer ring was a coffee brown while the middle one was so dark that it was almost black. Just almost. The inner ring of brown was like a caramel brown. Then right before her pupil was a light shade of green and blue, all morphed to fit into one ring.

“Because I’m hungry. Go get me food!” She whined and rolled away from me. I chuckled and wrapped my arm around her waist, pulling her straight back to my chest.

“Then come and make it with me,” I whispered in her ear and smiled when I felt her shiver.

“I don’t know how.”

“Then I’ll teach you little one.” She turned around and smiled up at me. I chuckled and kissed her forehead. “Get up and go take a shower. I’ll use the bathroom out in the hall.” She smiled up at me and hopped off of the bed.

I laughed as Celeste turned around to face me, only for her to be covered in pancake mix. While I had gotten out the bowls I asked Celeste to grab the pancake mix that was up in the cupboard. Apparently she couldn’t reach it because the next thing I know, the box of pancake mix fell out of the cupboard and fell onto Celeste’s head.

“Stop it Xavier!” I stopped laughing and pulled Celeste to me. I kissed her pancake mix covered nose making her scowl.

“Go get cleaned up. I’ll make us some eggs and bacon. Does that sound good?” She nodded and walked off upstairs.

I quickly made eggs and bacon before Celeste came back downstairs. We ate in a comfortable silence. Every now and then I would glance up at her and smile as she happily ate her food. When we finished I picked her up, bridal style, despite her whining that she could walk, and walked towards the entertainment room.

I sat down with Celeste right next to me. We watched a random movie and every time I heard her giggle my wolf howled in pride.

“Xavier.” I looked up towards Jared. “Alpha Weiss is here.” I nodded and kissed Celeste’s forehead.

“Do you want to come with me Celeste?” She looked in thought for a moment before nodding. I grabbed her hand and pulled us off of the couch.

Her, Jared, and I walked outside to meet with Alpha Weiss. We met Alpha Weiss halfway towards the pack border only it was two less people than I expected.

“Alpha Weiss, glad you’re here.” He smiled. Alpha Weiss was a kind man as long as you aren’t threatening his pack and especially his small family. His mate couldn’t have kids and they had been devastated about. I remember that his mate, Luna Joli, called me trying to ask if I could help her with the Alpha work because she was trying to take off some stress from her mates shoulder after they heard the news. After his brother and his mate died, they took in Mischen. I’ve only met her once before, at the last meeting like this, but she was adorable. Dirty blonde hair and green eyes that screamed innocence. Last time I saw them I couldn’t help but hope that one day my mate and I could be like that one day with a child of our own.

“I am too Alpha Xavier. How long has it been since we’ve last seen each other?”

“Around a year I believe.”

“I see that a lot has changed. I see you have found your mate.” I looked down at Celeste who smiled shyly and moved behind me just a bit. Alpha Weiss chuckled.

“Alpha Weiss, meet Celeste. Celeste this is Alpha Weiss.” Celeste nodded and hid her face in my back. Alpha Weiss chuckled.

“Where is Luna Joli and Mischen?” He smiled at the mention of his family.

“Joli has her sister visiting, so she stayed. And Salvus is here, that means Mischen won’t go anywhere without him. I didn’t think your pack would appreciate a vampire on your territory.” I nodded.

“Thank you for the consideration. Why don’t we head back towards the pack house?” He nodded and we walked off. There was two other men with Alpha Weiss but I knew they were only warriors. He would leave his Beta and Third in Command at his pack to look over his family. I respected how much he cared for his family. I also didn’t need to worry that the other men would cause any harm towards Celeste.

“Oh and Alpha Weiss.” I looked down to Celeste who was clinging to my arm, as she still hid her face in my arm, so she wouldn’t fall. And I would never let her. “Welcome to our pack.”
