Remember when

you slipped this ring

upon my finger

and our hearts did sing?

Remember when

you added another

when I found I could

never be a mother?

Remember when

yours slipped from your hands

and I journeyed on

to face life’s demands?

Remember when

my ring came off

after months of mourning

so rough and tough?

And now as your spirit

guides me on my path,

mother to many, I live

once more in joy, with mirth

The ring I wear

A circle closed

I walk in freedom

and love unopposed.
