Chapter 22

Bella's

P.O.V

I buried my face into the pillow even further, but it wasn't soft like it usually was. Mmm it smells like fresh citrus and smoky sage, why does my pillow smell like Asher? I moved my cheeks more, trying to focus on my sleep when there was a knock on the door that must have woken me up to begin with. It was followed quickly by another four knocks, even though I was sleepy I was trying to ignore it for the longest time before it became impossible to do so.

I slowly opened my eyes, blinking a few times to adjust to the light when I realised that I wasn't in my room. I shot up into a sitting position, looking all around me, turning my head here and there to realize that I was still in school. I did not know when I had fallen asleep while calming Asher's wolf yesterday. Asher? I did not see him anywhere. Was that all a dream? Was he really not here?

I had been misguided between dreams and reality, they had mixed together and I was no longer sure which was which at this point. Where the hell was that pillow where my face had been resting this whole time! I was definitely dreaming. As soon as my hand went to my hair, a rose came down from it and fell.

"A rose? How did it get into my hair?" I asked myself. I was getting more confused. I picked it up from the floor, it was beautiful. A smile came to my face as I smelled it, but the smile disappeared as I smelled Asher's scent on it. Why did this rose smell like him? I again heard a knock on the door and saw that I was still sitting at the gym door and someone was knocking on the door.

"Bella..." I thought that I heard Victoria's voice. As soon as I got up from the ground, I opened the door. Not only was Victoria there, but Lily was as well.

"Victoria? Lily? What are you two doing here?" I asked, still confused.

"I should ask you that question? You did not even come to the shop last night and you did not pick up the phone either. I was worried about you." Lily complained and I was surprised to hear her. It meant that it was now morning and I couldn't even go to the shop. Oh God, what would happen to my income?!

"Please forgive me for making you worry, but did you not go to work this morning because of me?" I asked Lily as they both came inside.

"Yes, I couldn't go to work because I was looking for you. Where have you gone missing to since yesterday evening? Today is Saturday, so what are you doing in school?" Lily asked. I immediately looked at both of them to see that Lily was not wearing a school uniform. Both of them were wearing normal house clothes. I had also forgotten that today is Saturday.

"Offff...." Irritatingly, I made a strange sound out of my mouth and started scratching my hair.

"Forgive me. My only mistake was that I slept." I told both of them, they both started laughing at me.

"No problem. I just hope, Asher did not go too hard on you as there is no bed." Victoria replied, my face turned as red as a tomato.

"You're thinking wrong. Nothing happened between us!" I immediately tried to defend myself but she did not believe me, on the other hand Lily had gone silent. She was just smiling. They were smiling, commenting that I smell like Asher. I also thought that I smelled like him as if I had bathed in his scent.

"By the way, how did you two know that I was locked in the gym?" I asked as the three of us came out of there, heading towards the athletic fields.

"I got Leo's call a few minutes ago. He told me that you were in the gym. He must have gotten ordered by his Alpha. Lily had already asked me about you so I immediately called her." Victoria replied, I felt as if I was not alone in the room until 5 minutes before my eyes opened. Asher had stayed until then. My whole body smelled like that. When had he left?

"I am glad to hear that he has some humanity as he told us about Bella. I do not expect anything from him as he always finds everything around him horrid, useless and a waste of his time." Lily informed, rolling her eyes and I chuckled.

"I think you both have misconceptions about Asher and Leo. Both boys are sweet." Victoria admonished defending both of them, that made Lily and I roll our eyes.

"We very well know what kind of boys they are." Lily and I said together to Victoria.

"You both will understand soon, but today I came to know that they are not here because they have left for their pack. I heard that Alpha Gabriel has ordered every pack member to be present at lunch. They must be in their pack right now or maybe they were on the way." Victoria told us and my eyes went to the parking lot where I could see Asher's bike. It was still there.

"Let's go to the shop. We have so much work to do there today it is Propose day." Lily explained and I nodded as we all left the school.

Third Person P.O.V

"Drive Slow. Drive as slow as you can." Asher told David. He slowed the speed of the car even further, David saw Asher lying like a king on the back seat from his view in the rear view mirror. Asher had given this same order at least 100 times.

"But nothing will happen no matter how slow you drive. At the end, we will still reach the pack within about 2 hours. There is no way to escape." Leo whispers to David, knowing that the Alpha sitting behind them can hear him.

"Because of this I am telling you to drive slow!" Asher grumbled, slowly opening his eyes and growling at Leo. Asher could not help grit his teeth in annoyance, as the pack was getting closer, his irritability was becoming more prominent. All three had left for the pack three hours ago, but had not arrived yet because Asher had repeatedly asked them to slow down. He had not wanted to go to the pack.

"Whatever you try, Alpha Gabriel will not let anyone have lunch before you arrive." David remarked, making fun of Asher causing Leo to laugh. There were too many reasons that he was not ready to go back to his pack. Asher was very well aware that his father would not start lunch and that he would be waiting desperately for him.

"OH f**k! NOW DRIVE QUICKLY!! I WILL QUICKLY HAVE MY LUNCH AND LEAVE THE PACK!!" Asher roared in frustration. With a big smile David started to drive his car at the speed he wanted. In less than half an hour they had reached the pack where Alpha Gabriel had been waiting for his son.

"Asher." Alpha Gabriel said, hugging him tightly as soon as he got out of the car.

"Hey dad, how are you?" Asher asked, hugging him back. Leo and David bowed their heads in front of Alpha Gabriel without interrupting his moment with his precious son.

"Now I am feeling better as I can see my son who came to see me, but why are you so late? I have been waiting for you to arrive for a while now. At one point I was getting angry thinking that you would not be coming." Alpha Gabriel expressed his displeasure as they all appeared late.

"Now finally I will be able to hear how Alpha Gabriel will scold his precious son. Since childhood, I have never heard Alpha scolding him. Looks like my dreams will be fulfilled today." David told Leo through the mind-link, both of them smiled thinking this, but Leo knew what was going to happen.

"David was driving, ask him," Asher replied, stepping away and giving a full view of Alpha Gabriel's face to David.

"David." Alpha Gabriel growled, sounding angry. David panicked seeing that Asher blamed all his wrong doings on him like he always did. Asher smirked, looking at David's face. Leo was laughing secretly as he very well knew the situation would turn out like this. After all, they still had yet to hear Alpha Gabriel would scold Asher for anything. That day was never going to come.

"I am sorry Alpha, next time I will drive faster." David recovered, apologizing quickly to Alpha Gabriel before he became angered further.

"It's all right. Now come here." Alpha Gabriel said, giving him a big hug. David narrowed his eyes at Asher as he could never win against him.

"Next time I will try my best." David mind-linked Asher.

"I am waiting." Asher replied back.

"Let's go inside and have lunch." Alpha Gabriel stated, heading inside the pack house while everyone followed him. Other pack members were already there including the principal.

"Dad." Leo called out as soon as he spotted his father who had come out of the Woods.

"Leo, finally you remember your father." Beta Levi commented, expressing his displeasure while hugging him. For the last two months he had not come to see his father.

"Come on dad. Now don't start." Leo grumbled, walking inside the pack house with his father. As they entered the dining room, Leo, David and Asher looked at each other realizing that the danger had yet to come. First Alpha Gabriel and his Beta took their seats, but all the boys were standing there talking in mind links.

"Something is wrong." Leo said, starting the mind-link with Asher and David.

"I know." Asher replied, mind-linking.

"Something is definitely wrong." David continued in panic, mind-linking them.

"Why are you all boys talking using the mind-link? Is there something wrong?" Alpha Gabriel asked with a big smile to all the boys.

"No, there is nothing wrong." Asher replied in a calm tone as they all took their seats around the table. Asher was sitting beside his father while David sat beside Asher. Leo was also sitting beside his father and all the boys' eyes were on the principal who was not daring to lift his eyes. Omega's began to serve the food all three of the boys were eating quickly, which did not go unnoticed by Alpha Gabriel and Beta Levi.

"How is everything going with school? How are your studies going?" Alpha Gabriel asked Asher. That was always the start of everything conservation with his father, that was why he never liked to come back.

"It's good. You do not have to worry about anything. I am not creating any problems between us and the humans." Asher quickly replied. He did not forget to add that he was not messing with humans. He already knew that his father's next question was going to be about humans so he cleared that up beforehand.

"And would you bother to tell me why your younger brother, along with other pack members have been sent to Asher's maternal uncle's pack?" Beta Levi asked Leo, which caused him to stop eating.

"You already know the reason dad, but you still continue to ask me. I do not think anything was hidden from Alpha and you, but I will still tell you that Noah was wrong in what he had done. He did wrong to a human. The worst thing was he asked Suzy to use her power on Alpha Asher." Leo replied and Beta Levi slowly nodded. He was already aware of all of this, but it was their way of getting closer to the main point. Asher, Leo and David again shared a look with each other.

"I do not think that the objective of this sudden pack lunch is this matter. I am sure this pack lunch has a whole other purpose." David mind-linked Asher and Leo, they both agreed with him.

"Let's leave." Asher mind-linked them, but it was late.

"So I can see that you boys are not ready to divulge everything, then I have to go to the principal." Alpha Gabriel said. Causing everyone's utensils to stop and making the principal raise his head up to look Alpha Gabriel in the face. "How is everything going in school?" Alpha Gabriel using his Alpha tone.

"The boys are telling the truth, Alpha. Everything is operating well, the matter with Suzy was brought to your attention in a timely manner. Alpha Asher had handled the matter with the other pack members and punished them appropriately. Other than that everything is fine Alpha." The principal replied. Leo thanked the Moon Goddess that he did not mention anything about Bella.

"That's good." Alpha Gabriel said, all the boys sighed in relief. The questioning did not persist, he would not investigate further. The important thing was that he was not curious to know the reason what had instigated the mess to begin with. Everyone had their food peacefully and coffee was served at the end.

"And Boys, what about your mates?" Alpha Gabriel's sudden question caused the coffee to get stuck in the throat of all the boys. David almost choked, the principal quickly passed him water. Now they all understood the reason for this sudden pack lunch, it had all been planned. All the boys looked at the principal who had lowered his eyes as he had been the one who had to tell everything to Alpha Gabriel. Leo looked at his father's face that had a huge smile.

"Asher." Alpha Gabriel called his name to get him to meet his eye. He was looking at his coffee.

"Excuse me, but I am going to see mom." Asher replied, putting the mug of coffee on the dining table. He got up from his chair and walked out of the pack house. Everyone was silent as he left the house as always to see his mother. Alpha Gabriel took a deep breath, he was worried about Asher.

"Leo, you are coming with me." Beta Levi commanded, getting up from his seat. He had already received permission fromAlpha Gabriel through the mind-link. Leo had to follow his father and now there was only David and Alpha Gabriel at the dining table. "David." Alpha Gabriel said, he looked up to his face. He was not talking to him using his Alpha tone, rather as his uncle.

"Yes uncle." David replied.

"I heard you rejected your mate. Is it true?" Alpha Gabriel asked. David put the coffee mug on the dining table.

"Yes I did." David answered without giving any excuse.

"You are the only son of my elder brother. After the death of my brother and sister in law, I took responsibility for you. I promised him that I would take care of you. If they were alive today and they knew that you had rejected your mate, they might have asked the reason why, but I will not ask you." Alpha Gabriel told, David was a bit surprised to hear him.

"Why?" David wondered in a low tone.

"Because I believe that you will do what is right like it should be. I heard that your mate had not accepted your rejection, that means you still have a chance. I would like you to listen to your heart, not your mind. Hostility between two packs is a different thing. She is your mate and only made for you. Always separate her from everything else and the enmity of both packs. A mate is the best thing in our life and you should always cherish her." Alpha Gabriel explained to David with a smile, before getting up from there he placed his hand on his head like David's Father used to do.

Alpha Gabriel exited the pack house. David was still looking at his coffee mug, contemplating what Alpha Gabriel had said to him. Leo was in the backyard of the pack house with his father, the two were wandering around.

"How long were you planning to hide it from me?" Beta Levi asked Leo in a stern tone.

"I was not hiding it. I was just not telling." Leo responds to his father in a curved manner.

"Is there a difference between these two things?" Beta Levi countered, raising his eyebrows.

"Ok, I'm sorry." Leo replied, looking away.

"She is human." Leo abruptly told his father, it was very shocking for Beta Levi.

"What? Your mate is a human?" Beta Levi questioned, wanting to be sure that he had heard correctly.

"Yes, she is human. She is stupid, naive, timid, and she has a boyfriend." Leo told everything to his father. While digging his foot into the ground. He looked irritated when he was talking about her boyfriend.

"So your mate has a boyfriend?" Beta Levi asked, raising his eyebrows, closely looking at the changing expression of Leo.

"Yeah, she has a boyfriend, she is very into him. When he calls she gets desperate and panics to answer his calls. She quickly ran away from school, from the store where she works, so that she could meet him." Leo explained, upon hearing him a chuckle escaped from Beta Levi's mouth. He could hear the jealousy in his words.

"So it means you are going to give up on that girl just because she is human and she has a boyfriend?" Beta Levi inquiered and his father's words hit Leo's upside the head.

"What do you mean?" Leo asked, looking up to his father who had an evil smirk on his face.

"A mate is always a mate. No matter if she is a werewolf or a human. She is only made for you and you have to make your way into her heart. She is human so she can not feel it the same way you do. You have to kick her boyfriend out of there if he lives where you belong. You have to make your own way." Beta Levi replied with an evil smile leaving his son with a great dilemma.

"How can you come here alone to see your mother? She only waits for her son." Alpha Gabriel said and took his place beside the grave of his Luna where Asher was sitting. He was moving his hand over the grave. He was very well aware that Asher only came back to see his mother. He was removing the unwanted weeds from his mother's grave.

"She would be happy if you would come with your mate." Alpha Gabriel said and Asher's hand stopped to hear him.

"Dad, you promised me. You would not interrupt in my affairs." Asher reminded his father of the promise that he made when his mother died.

"Yes, I remember my promise, but I want to remind you. Never do anything wrong that will hurt your mate. She..." Alpha Gabriel started to say and was about to continue.

"She is a lone wolf." Asher said and for the first time in his life he interrupted his father when he was talking. There was hate and anger in his words when he said that and Alpha Gabriel was shocked to hear him. The principal only informed him that all the boys had found their mates, but he had not told him that his son's mate was a lone wolf. Alpha Gabriel was thinking that maybe his mate was not beautiful and sexy like every werewolf wanted. But instead he came to learn that his son's mate was none other than but a lone wolf!

"Did you hear me? She is a lone wolf." Asher muttered to his father as he was still touching his mother's grave. The Moon Goddess chose not an ordinary wolf, but a lone wolf for his son.

"Yes, I heard you and your mother too." Alpha Gabriel replied and Asher looked at his father.

"Leave it to me Dad, like you always did. Believe me." Asher asked. Alpha Gabriel smiled as he looked at his Luna.

"Ok, I believe you. This is your last year in the school, after this when you come back to the pack, you will be the Alpha. You will take my place, that means in just a few months. Your mom and I will wait for you. We want to see if you will come alone or with your mate. Just remember she is the only one who will be with you no matter how rich or poor you are. Unconditionally..."
