His Unwanted Wife Again
Chapter Twenty-Five

UNEDITED

A Couple Of Days Later.

Nathan canceled three appointments for today already. He just couldn't focus on anything but thoughts leading back to his wife.

It was now just after five in the afternoon, and he was finally getting some peace and quiet. He sent all his employees home early and has been sitting in his office chair twirling a pen, and staring at his desk like the two had a problem for over an hour now. He needed to clear the clutter of confusion in his head otherwise he was going to go insane.

He loved Sabrina with all his heart, but when she asked the question "How could you love me if you view me like this?" He didn't have a reply. Not for her, and not for himself. Sabrina is everything he didn't know he wanted in a woman, a wife, and a mother for his children. He felt like he knew that she wasn't capable of doing the things she was accused of but he couldn't trust his own judgment. There was always a part of him that believes her, but he considers that thought a frail one because he was weak for her.

He drops the pen and rubs his head and eyes frustratingly. He's never been this confused before. It's the same thoughts he keeps replaying over and over.

All he knew is that he loved her. Maybe he loved the old Sabrina. The Sabrina before their son's death. He began to compare past Sabrina to present Sabrina to sort where and what he was feeling and got nowhere.

Past Sabrina and present Sabrina are the same. There was only one thing missing from present Sabrina, and it came back the other night.

The fire in her eyes. He started realizing that it's been missing since Auden. She thought she was okay after a few days by Mariel's house but she's out of her mind.

He shifts his train of thought. Did he really bully her into admitting she cheated on him? Past Sabrina would have told him to screw himself verses admit a lie, but losing a child, is a scar that's impossible to remove. He knows first hand. She was weak from life beating her down. He knew that, but even in that state of mind, he believed that she wouldn't have cheated on him. He was her first, and deep down he knew she could never be with another man. So of course, you dick, Judd set her up. You know her, you know her character. Would she lie? What's her reason? Why is she leaving again? He chooses to trust her. He chooses to trust his judgment.

He tightens his fist. What an idiot he's been. Everything made so much sense now. Sabrina admitted cheating because he wouldn't hear anything else. She's right. He's a bully, and she's innocent.

He knows in his heart that she wasn't the type of person to lie or cheat but wasn't sure what losing Auden had done to her. He believed that she wasn't capable, but he was afraid his weakness for her would make him an idiot. Now he could see its because he knew her deep down. She was setup. He pushes his chair back and stands up. He needed to get home.

When he arrived, Sabrina was eating dinner at the kitchen table and had her phone to her ear. Jasmine was sitting in her bouncy chair whiles eating her hands and staring at her mother.

"I'll call you back tomorrow Gracie." She places the phone on the table.

Nathan goes in front of his daughter and gives her a kiss before joining Sabrina at the table. He reaches out and wipes mayo from near her lip. "I believe you." He just needed to get it out and to get to the point.

At the same time, she got up and began walking her plate over to the counter. "What?" She loads the dishwasher and then washes her hands and face in the sink.

"I believe you're telling me the truth. You were set up."

"Do you really?" She dries her face and nonchalantly moves to pick up Jasmine.

Without a backward glance, she walks out of the room.

"Yes." He follows her to the nursery.

She places Jasmine on the changing table and unzips her pink and green zebra onesie.

Nathan's folds his arms and leans up against the wall near her. He watched as she changed Jasmine diaper and put on a fresh onesie. "Why didn't you tell me you were setup before?" He asks

"I had no idea Judd came to you with some garbage story about me wanting to have a baby with him. That's insane. I thought he started having feelings for me. I didn't know he was sabotaging my marriage. The only explanation I had at that time was that he was angry that I turned him down.

"Why did you lie to me? Why would you say you were with him?"

"Is this you being a detective? Am I being interviewed?

"I just want to get my facts straight Sabrina. This was killing me." He loosens his jaw. "Let me rephrase my question. Why did you lie about wanting to have a baby with him?"

"At least you didn't think I just wanted a good time is what I thought. She picks up Jasmine and hands her to Nathan. "And I wanted us to have another chance."

He smiles at his baby girl and spoons her in one arm. "That is why I believed him, Sabrina. Because he said you wanted him for a child." He explains. "And nothing else."

"I guess he knew what to say then." She shrugs.

He glances away and grinds his teeth down.

"What can I say, Nathan? You should have asked me."

"Your right." He swallows. "I'm sorry."

She bites her lips. "I'm sorry too. I wasn't comprehending how all of this... me lying was affecting you." She could see the pain in his eyes and it ate at her. She turns around and leaves the room.

Nathan follows her again to the kitchen and leans on the island while she makes a bottle. "I am sorry for pushing you to that point."

"Wow." She suddenly turns towards him. "You're really going with this? You all of a sudden trust me now? Are you sure you're not forcing yourself to believe so that Jasmine and I won't leave."

"I know it seems like I'm just speaking the words and I don't actually believe you but it's not like that. I really do."

She shakes her head.

"You're wrong Sabrina. I do know you on the inside." He becomes defensive. "It was the hardest pill I've ever had to swallow believing you cheated on me. But I always had hope that you were telling me the truth before you lied. I was just afraid to trust my intuitions."

"So now you're one hundred percent sure in your intuitions?"

"I'm one hundred percent sure in you."

She testes the temperature of the milk before reaching for Jasmine.

Instead, Nathan takes the bottle, puts it in her mouth, and sits on the stool near the island. "Do you know why I gave you that ultimatum?"

"Because you love me?" She leans on the counter and folds her arms.

"Yes, and because I know you. I know that you're a good, kind, sweet, gentle person. I know you're smart and you're loyal and I knew that even if you did sleep with Judd, that it was a mistake caused by the hardship we were going through. I also know that it would never happen again."

"What are you trying to say?"

"I know you deep down. I know you are on the inside. I don't want this marriage to end."

She releases a slow breath. "Neither do I but-"

"Sabrina...I believe you."

"You'll always doubt me."

"I will never doubt you again."

"No." She shakes her head. "You can't just suddenly have full faith in me when I'm about to walk out of the door. It doesn't make sense that you did a one-eighty in a couple of days.

"I've always had faith in the person you are." He assures her. "You wouldn't be here if I didn't. It was just very hard for me to deal with, having thought of another man touching you."

"Is that why you can't trust me enough to have bodyguards that can talk to me?"

"Sabrina." He releases a breath. "It's not you, it's me okay. I admit that may have been going overboard."

"You're unsure of your own judgment. How can you be sure now? That's the question you need to answer."

"All I know is that I love you, and I couldn't be in love with you if I really believed you to be a cheater and liar."

"That's not the right answer." She pauses. "It doesn't matter anyway. It's too late."

"How can it possibly be too late? We're married and have a child together." He looks down at Jasmine. Her eyes hung low and milk settled in the corners of her mouth. He pulls the bottle out and adjusts her on his shoulder. "And don't forget we are in love."

"Even if you believe what you're saying, I don't." Her mind was made up, and when that was the case, there was no turning back. "I'll walk on eggshells and you'll always have doubts as to whether or not your judgment is deceiving you." He glares at her. He didn't know how to make her believe him. He needed to find a way to fix this.

"Our marriage is a huge sham. We were both forced to marry each other because of our parent's past. It's based on secrets, betrayal, and money. We have to accept its faith to end. I should have a long time ago." She bites her lips. "And we need to talk about Jasmine and getting our own place. I want us to come to a joint decision on her future."

He could see that look in her eyes. There wasn't anything he could say. He was more sure than ever that she was innocent. He fucked up but he wasn't going to give up. "Stay here. This is your home. I'll leave as soon as I secure a place close by."

"No Nathan," She steps closer to him, within arm's length. "This was just a trial, remember? This is your home. I can't make you leave your own home."

He gently smiles and takes her hand. "My home is wherever you and Jasmine are." He kisses it and then tugs her in between his legs. "Sweetheart." He whispers. Still holding Jasmine in one hand he laces his fingers in her hair and pulls her head down.

She gasps softly and her eyes automatically close in waiting for a kiss.

Instead of on her lips, he places a kiss on each of her cheeks and then the tip of her nose.

Then, just as soon as her eyes open he presses his lips on hers. "Hmm." He moans in relief.

Her hand curls around his neck and a quiet whimper escape her intoxicating lips. She lightly pushes his abdomen making very little effort to get away from him.

He holds her in place and slowly devours her mouth like he was savoring every taste.

"I love you." He breaks away for second and then jumps right back in for more, and she was giving, until suddenly. "Wait." She pushes on his abs harder this time. "Stop." She pulls his hand away and tries to catch her breath and senses.

He adjusts his daughter on his shoulder and stands. "You're mine, Sabrina." He announces. If he had two hands she wouldn't have gotten away so easily. "You'll always be mine."

She turns away and closes her eyes. No one knew how true that was more than her. She quickly turns back, takes Jasmine from him, and hurries into the nursery.

Nathan didn't follow her. He needed to figure out his next move. He was going to get justice for his wife if it's the last thing he does.
