Her Forever
Chapter 62

Nathan

Diana and I had a beautiful beginning, a rough middle and still an uncertain future. I’ve done everything I can to show my beautiful mate that I am more than completely honest with her. I know my actions from my past have come to bite me in the a*s, but I’m here to rectify that and prove to her I am the man for her.

Sadie really is sent from the goddess herself. If it weren’t for her I would be stranded, stuck in the mud while Diana verbally rejects me and I will remain mateless for the rest of my life. I will teach my boys, if I ever have any, that they will not even think about touching another female until their mate walks into their lives. Even if they have to wait as long as Alpha Seth.

The worst part was when she found out I put my scent on Sadie.

Dear Goddess, I thought the world was going to crash and burn before my eyes. She had lived and grew up in Bergarian; she was taught all the different ways some cultures mate and claim their mates/beloveds/intendeds. Of course she would blow up. I couldn’t fault her for that.

Diana and I are still not officially mated. I have to prove to her I am going to be a suitable mate. After Sadie had turned the backyard into a proclamation of my love for Diana, it really helped turn things around. We have stayed in separate rooms, even though my wolf utterly despises it. Usually we end up sleeping outside her door. There were a few times she tripped over me trying to get to the kitchen in the middle of the night. My mate has a sweet tooth for Sadie’s snickerdoodle cookies.

“This is the last,” Diana said as she put her third suitcase on the floor. We were getting ready to head to dinner, and she officially packed every bit of her shopping spree with Sadie a few days ago into the bags. Some things you just can’t get in Bergarian and Sadie wanted Diana to have a good time and have clothing from her adventures here on Earth.

“I can put this in the car tomorrow and the carriage will take all the luggage back to the pack house,” I said absentmindedly as I put her bags near the door. Diana stood at the foot of the bed with her arms crossed, looking at her feet. “What’s wrong, babe?” I went to her and put both hands on her h**s. She looked upset. She then looked up at me with her red eyes and found some comfort in them. I smiled at her and gave her a quick peck on the forehead.

“There is some unrest in Vamparia. King Drago is no longer to be king, so the next in line will have to take the throne.” I could feel her hesitation through the bond. I nodded for her to continue. “I am the next in line. I am the only one left holding our father’s bloodline.”

I had already thought of this, even though her brother was much stronger than her because he had their father’s bond with his wife that she wouldn’t be weaker. However, she also had a coven witch’s b***d in her. She could easily rule the kingdom without problems. However, the vampire parliament might have issues with her only being half witch and also mated with a werewolf. How would our children fare?

I stroked her cheek with my fingers. “What do you want to do, precious?” I said with concern. She grabbed my hand and held it close to her as if I was going to fly away.

“I don’t know. If I decide to rule, you would have to leave your pack and be with me. I would also have to fight for my right to rule. I’m not the most orthodox vampire. We have a few weeks to decide. Right now, the parliament is dealing with the Royal Pack regarding Drago…” She continued to ramble, but I finally put my finger to her lips.

“Whatever you decide, I will follow. I will help you in every way I can.” Diana got on her toes and placed a k**s on my lips, the first in weeks. I savored her flavor as she put her arms around my neck. Kissing her was the sweetest of things. I can’t believe I wasted years kissing meaningless girls. I should have waited just for her.

Diana pulled away, and I almost whined. I turned into an enormous pile of s**t and I didn’t care. “You need to tell Alpha Seth and Sadie what’s going on. Just so he knows, sooner the better.” I nodded.

“I will, after we arrive tomorrow. Right now, Seth is worried about some recent attacks and the potential for a war coming on. Queen Estar saw a vision, people are trying to take Sadie, saying she may can heal others and want to take her for her potential of having these powers. Sadie doesn’t know, and Seth would like to keep it that way.” Diana gave me a pointed look.

“She is the princess. She has the right to know, Nathan! You need to tell her or I will!” Diana exclaimed. “This isn’t fair to her. You and Alpha Seth treat her like a porcelain doll. She’s obviously is not. She proved that when capturing Drago,” Diana said, flustered as she walked away from me. “You men think she’s helpless, and she’s not.”

“I am doing what I was asked. Of course, she is strong. Seth is just very protective of her and wants to keep her safe but happy. This is all so new to her and there has been no peace since she came back into our world. He wants to give her some peace for a bit. It isn’t forever.” I tried to explain. I understood Seth’s reason. Sadie has been thrown around every which way she just wants to experience arriving at her new home relaxed.

“I’ll talk to Seth, alright? It isn’t our place to say, he’s given an order and you know I can’t do anything against that. He is my alpha. I will talk to him as a friend though. See what he says?” I tried to help her understand. “Let’s just go to dinner. Sadie and Seth will be there, surprisingly.” Diana nodded reluctantly, and I led her downstairs.

All during dinner, Seth went over the plans on how to get into Bergarian. He was worried about a full-frontal attack right from the portal, but his father wasn’t expecting that. No matter what his father said, Seth wanted warriors ready to go for anything that could go wrong. There was definitely going to be some overkill for the welcoming of the new princess and Luna.

All the while, Sadie sat oblivious to Seth while he mind-linked the team on orders for tomorrow. Diana, being a witch, could listen in to some of the conversation by concentrating on me. Her powers were a lot more powerful than I imagined, and she even had the guts to stare me down at dinner.

“This is not right. Sadie needs to be told and not left in the dark.” I heard her through the mind powers she had. I sighed. She just doesn’t understand an Alpha command. Sadie would be safe and hopefully all this would be resolved before she even had to know about it.

Diana

Nathan and I have come a long way since I found out about what he had done in his past, especially how he tried to throw his scent all over Sadie. I’m not dumb. I know what that meant. He had planned on mating with her, even when Sadie told me the extent of it he did it out of desperation and thought he would never be awarded a mate, still stung.

Honestly, I didn’t know if I would have a mate either. I was part witch and vampire, mate or beloved, I just wasn’t sure. In my heart I felt it, that there would be someone, but logically I just couldn’t see it. That didn’t mean I was going to forcefully have someone mate with me. Nathan was practically doing that, hiding her scent from her mate.

For the past few weeks, Nathan did a lot to rectify it. He could prove to me he has changed. Not once did he look at another female. He had been completely faithful to me. In fact, he had been possessive, just like wolves normally do, which made me feel more elated. His wolf was 100% on board with us to be mates and I am really believing he will be the perfect mate now that he realizes I’m here.

I couldn’t help but k**s him. I was feeling vulnerable earlier. Nathan and the bond that we share makes me feel like home. Comfort was all that I wanted. He tastes like pomegranates and I honestly didn’t want to let go.

But, I am to be queen. Next in line for the throne, there will be so many trials I would have to face. I wasn’t a full vampire and the parliament might have something to say about that. There might be some unwritten rule that I cannot rule, and that worried me. I knew many people that helped Drago rule in the parliament and they can be wicked. They needed to be removed, and I was going to do it. Too many vampires had lost their lives under their laws.

Even when I told Nathan the possibility of having to rule, he told me he would follow me and do what needs to be done. My heart felt so full. He was willing. He was going to do everything with me. The moment he told me he would follow me and I was about to give him my heart. However, he then drops the bomb on me. He tells me about keeping secrets from Sadie.

I’m sorry?

I owe Sadie my life. She made sure I was rescued and found Nathan. I cannot keep secrets from her, especially if they are about her. Nathan was following the Alpha command, but I couldn’t follow it because I wasn’t a part of the pack.

Oh, I’m gonna tell her. Not because I owe her or just because I am her friend, but because we girls have to stick together in a male dominated society called Bergarian. Things were about to change. Two brand new Queen females were about to come into the picture.
