Her Forever -
Chapter 38
Sadie
It had been 5 days since I had woken up from the excitement of being rescued from King Drago. The pack was back in full swing at regular duties while I spent my time with Seth. True to his word, I never left his side. There were constant meetings that he had to attend, and I was there with him. I often would doze off during the meeting, but he found it cute, he said. I found it completely humiliating.
The Ministry said it would take a few weeks until I had regained my full strength back and that waiting to mate would be wise. With so much magic running through my body, they said it would be best to have a healthy body before such a change. That didn’t stop Seth from wanting to throw a massive party at the pack house, however.
Rebecca and Lela were to put the large party together with the Luna of the Pineville Pack. They were going to have something called a “mating ceremony,” where I would be introduced as Luna, and later that night, we were to seal the deal, so to speak. I’m guessing this is more like a marriage ceremony in human terms. I get to wear a pretty dress, so I’m not complaining!
My cheeks grew as ripe as a tomato when Rebecca and Lela explained what goes on during the mating process. I had a general idea, but the whole biting my neck and also biting hard enough to change me was going to be difficult.
“You probably won’t move for days,” Lela said as she brushed my hair. We had just gotten back from breakfast, and Seth was training with the warriors. “Why is that? Does the change hurt that much?”
“Not that silly, from you guys just doing the mating part.” She laughs. The bite that makes you change will be a few days later. I’m sure he wants to make you feel extra good your first few times,” Rebecca cackled. My face was scarlet. How could they talk about such things?
After Rebecca and Lela braided my hair into a fishtail braid, I stood up to look out the window. The pups were running around the yard, and several warriors were watching the pack house. Many couples were sitting on benches and nuzzling one another. Everything was so peaceful here. Wolves loved each other, and you could feel a family bond.
“Why would you leave, Maria?” I whispered. Thinking back to her funeral only made my chest tighten a bit. The thought of her truly being gone and miserable all those years without this family unit didn’t sit well with me. Something must have kept her from here, but what? She was a wolf and fairly strong, from what some of her friends had told me.
Walking back into the living room with the girls, I sat down on the couch. There were still boxes from when the warriors had gathered my things for when I first came to the pack house. Looking through some papers that came along with the will that was given to me by the lawyer, I remembered I still need to make it to the town’s bank, surely all these envelopes were showing me where the deed and other papers on the cabin were. Dusting off the small amount of dirt that was on the folder, I opened it up to see pictures of the cabin, Jeremy, and a few pictures of the land around the cabin. I smiled, knowing that I still have a little piece of their lives.
As I thumbed through the rest of the paperwork, I came across a small key. The key had a label on it that said, “Dewolf Security Boxes.” I don’t remember the key being in here, but then again, everything happened so fast when I moved. Plus I needed to go to the bank anyways. Finding some more fun things in a security box would be fun, maybe some of her personal affects? “Hey, ladies?” I motioned for them to come closer. “Are there some security boxes at the bank in town still? I have a key from my aunt.” Rebecca looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. Lela looked like she knew what I was asking.
“Yes! There are some really old security boxes in town at the old bank. I don’t think people keep stuff in there anymore, and it’s abandoned at the back of the bank.” Lela said.
“I think we should pay a visit,” I said, twiddling my finger with the key. Maybe get some answers? What do you think?” Rebecca nodded. “I think that is an excellent idea, and then maybe head to the diner. I’ll go let Seth know.” Rebecca walked off to talk to Seth while Lela stayed with me.
Finding some personal information about Maria and Jeremy was something I was hoping to find, but maybe something else? Drago’s word whispered in the back of my mind since coming back. Royalty? Could I possibly be? If that was the case, then why have I not heard or been found by my so-called parents?
“Lela, are you alright?” I asked. Lela had been quiet since I had come back from King Drago. Often I would see her stare out the window and look at the mated couples. I know she longed for a mate, but it takes time, from what I’m told. They could live hundreds of years, just like Seth, before they could find a mate.
Lela sat close to me. “Can you keep a secret?” she whispered.
“Of course, always!” I smiled.
“I-I think one vampire in the dungeon is my mate.” She stuttered as a tear fell down her face. Is that possible? Could a vampire and werewolf be mated with each other?
“Can that happen? I mean, I guess Nathan mated with a half-vampire. But why wouldn’t you say anything before?” I looked at her questionably. She nodded. “It is rare, but it can happen. He was being beatened and tortured. I couldn’t confront your mate. He’s scary, and I wasn’t one hundred percent sure.” Lela kept fiddling with her fingers as a few more tears fell down her face. The vampires that were being kept in the basement were just following orders and quickly surrendered to Seth once we found out that King Drago was hurting his people. Perhaps they weren’t as bad as we think they were.
“Do you want me to talk to Seth, Lela? I would be happy to do that. If he is your mate, you should be together, and you will only become depressed if you are far away, right?” She nodded again, and I held her close. “I’ll talk to him. First, we need to find out which one is your mate. Do you know for sure who it is? Do they know?”
“I don’t think they know it is me, and I’m not sure which of the three it is,” Lela said sadly. Lela wiped away her tears as Rebecca came back into the living room. “Hey? What is with the waterworks, Lela? Did Sadie hurt you?” she gave a nervous laugh.
“I would never!” I gasped.
“No, no. I was telling Sadie something. Did you get us permission to go?” Lela tried to change the subject, but Rebecca looked hurt.
“It’s a no-go; she can’t leave without her precious mate,” Rebecca emphasized the word ‘precious’ when she spoke. “However, Sadie, it looks like you have a date with your man. He said to meet him downstairs in 5.” I looked at Lela and rubbed her back up and down.
“I’ll talk to him, OK?” I whispered to her. Lela quickly nodded her head, and both left the room. The tension was thick in the air. I knew Rebecca and Lela had known each other longer, and I wonder if that was the reason for it. Lela didn’t want Rebecca to know, but why?
Grabbing my white knit cardigan sweater, I shut our bedroom door to head down the large stairs. No matter how many times I come up and down these stairs, I am constantly reminded how out of shape I really am. Maybe I should ask them to put an elevator in. That would be an awesome Luna order.
Smiling to myself, I skipped the last 3 steps to the bottom. It felt so good to have a lot of my strength back and feeling more myself. The emotional part of recovery was a bit more difficult than the physical, but I’m finally feeling better about myself. Seth has constantly reminded me that we are for each other, and no matter what, he will always be mine forever.
Feeling the warm and fuzzy feelings, I head to the conference room on the first floor, and I peek my head in. Seth was in the middle of discussing some warrior tactics for his home pack. Rogue wolves and vampires had been getting in through several spaces in their territory lines, and he was pushing for more hands from neighboring packs to deal with it.
“All I’m saying, we need these areas here,” he pointed, “here and here, to have tighter security until everyone can be back home. Just for two more weeks until after the mating ceremony,” Seth said.
“Yes, Alpha,” Marco, Ethan, and Nathan all rose from the table and turned towards me as I walked in. I gave a quick wave to the guys and smiled at Seth. He looked so handsome, being in his authority self at the head of the table. It was making me all hot and needy. Ethan and Marco started chuckling while Nathan looked extremely uncomfortable.
Seth quickly slammed his hand down on the mahogany table, “All of you get out!” He roared. I jumped and squeaked as I stood out of the way from the door. I watched how everyone left and how Seth slowly sat back down on the conference room chair.
I looked around the room, thinking maybe I should go too, but then he spoke. “Sadie.” I darted my head up from where I was staring at the floor. “Come here,” he said huskily as he motioned his finger towards him. I took a rather large gulp and walked to the other end of the table where he sat.
Once I stood right in front of him, he lifted me up and had me straddle his lap. I laughed, seeing Seth finally having a smile on his face. His intimidating face was hot, but his smile could make me melt. Seth put his hands in my hair, and I couldn’t help close my eyes how good it felt.
“Baby, were you thinking about something earlier when the men were here?” He whispered lowly.
“Um?”
“You looked at me, and then the entire room was engulfed in your scent. Don’t tell me you are innocent of that, Love.” Seth then pulled me closer to him as he kissed the side of my neck. A small whimper left my mouth, and I could feel his smile on my neck.
“My Luna has to control her smell, and I don’t want others to smell what is mine. You are mine, aren’t you, baby?” His hands snaked around my waist and down to my butt and gently squeezed.
“Mmhmm,” I m****d. Seth took his finger and lifted my head up, and gently kissed my lips while my breath became uneven. I wanted more than what he was giving me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and gently pulled his hair, and he let out a pleasant grunt as I pulled. His hands became tighter around my butt, and quickly a hand went near my inner thigh.
Feeling him was like a drug. He was something I couldn’t get enough of, and I wanted more and all of him. I wanted to mold into his body and never let go of the warmth he gave me. His touch was warm, tingling like little fireworks across my body. The more his hands moved, the more my body heated.
As his tongue grazed my lips and plunged into my mouth, I gripped hold of his shirt and rocked my h**s into his groin. He let out a soft chuckle and pulled from the k**s. I whined at the sudden loss of his mouth on mine and gave a small pout.
The past few days, he would only give me a taste of what I wanted, just the icing around the cupcake, but wouldn’t dare let me have the complete cake. “Soon, Love. Let’s not get carried away,” He teased. I crossed my arms and gave him a look, to which he just laughed.
“Come on, we have a date, and we need to talk about going to our home.” He smiled, brushing a piece of hair out of my face.
“Our home?” I questioned.
“Yeah, our home, back in Bergarian. Once you turn, we will go live there with our pack. They are so excited to meet you.”
I smiled and nodded my head. We had been talking about the change and going back to his, I mean, our home. I was nervous and excited. I couldn’t believe all this was happening to me—just a boring waitress who had hardly any friends and now is gaining a whole family.
Seth said he still had many things to explain to me, but I’m taking things a bit at a time. He already knows I’m overwhelmed by becoming a werewolf, but I constantly tell him it is what I want. Somewhere in my family, there are werewolves. I mean, my aunt was one. So why can’t I be one?
Jumping off his lap, he takes my hand to lead me to the door. I quickly stop, and Seth stops and looks around. “Seth, can we stop by the bank? I’ve got this key from my aunt for some sort of security box? Maybe there is some stuff for me in there?”
“Sure it’s on the way. Let’s go.” He motioned to the door.
