Cosset You Forever -
Chapter 734 Yang and I Are Getting Married
The tailored wedding dress was carried upstairs, its long train taking up a third of the floor when it was laid down.
As the glam team applied the final touches on Ella, Anna entered the room with a bowl of Tangyuan, a Chinese special stuffed dumpling made wholly of glutinous rice flour served in soup. "Ella, have some Tangyuan. It's tradition. People believe having Tangyuan on your wedding day will bring you good luck."
It touched Ella to see how much her sister-in-law cared for her, especially since Anna had just had a baby. Ella would have understood if she needed more time to recover, but Anna would hear none of it. Ella had a Tangyuan and said, "Anna, you need to have some rest. I don't think you have fully recovered."
"I'm good, Ella. Don't worry about me. I've been wanting to hang out with you for sometime now. It's your brother who kept me at home, because he wanted me to have rest. I'm tired of resting." Anna said as she scooped up another Tangyuan and blew on it, to cool it down.
"You've done too much for me. Thank you, Anna. How about you have a rest and I'll help myself to the food?" Ella took the bowl from Anna.
"Aww, it's sweet of you to say so. You are the bride and the one who is supposed to enjoy all of this. I just want everything to be perfect for you." When Anna married Eason, her mother fed her Tangyuan. It was sad that Ella's mother passed away and couldn't do this for her beloved daughter. So Anna wanted to make it up to Ella.
"Thank you, Anna." Ella was moved to tears. Her brother and sister-in-law were so kind to her.
Shortly before 7 o'clock, Eason entered the room, followed by some familiar faces.
"Amber, Yvonne, Zoey, Edith! It's so nice to see you guys!" Ella exclaimed when she saw her old friends. Even though Amber wasn't as radiant as she used to be, she looked much better after taking some time off to recuperate. Ella was glad to see that her friends could all attend the wedding, but she was surprised when she saw Zoey and Edith.
They were popular Hollywood music and movie stars whom Ella met once when she was in the US. Ella admired them for becoming big names in the music industry at such a young age.
She didn't expect that Samuel had such wide range of contacts that he could invite them.
"Hello! Ella, we are so glad to meet you again!" The friends warmly embraced.
After some small talk, Edith looked at the beauty in front of her admiringly and said, "You have no idea how much your husband-to-be cares for you. He did all he could to contact us and invite us to be your bridesmaids."
Since they were also actresses, Edith and Zoey had crossed paths with Ella before, and they both admired her for her welcoming and friendly temperament.
They also thought that she was humble, beautiful and had a strong desire to better herself.
"I was so surprised and so happy for you when Samuel told me you are getting married. I couldn't wait to see you again." Yvonne said as she held one of Ella's hands affectionately.
It made Ella feel on top of the world to be surrounded by so many friends.
After remaining silent for a while, Amber walked towards Ella and said, "Ella, I'm so sorry for what I did to you. It was horrible. Can you forgive me?"
Ella had no idea why Samuel invited Amber to be one of her bridesmaids, but she believed that Samuel had only pure intentions in doing so.
Besides, Ella had already moved on. She understood Amber was just being used by Catherine.
"Never mind about it. I accept your apology. Let's move on." Ella patted her on the shoulder. She could sense Amber had changed a lot. Amber gave her a light smile and said, "I'm glad to see you marry someone who loves you so much. Next month, Yang and I are getting married." "What?" Ella choked on her saliva after hearing the shocking news.
She began to cough, and Yvonne and Amber hurried over to pat her on the back. "What's wrong? Ella, are you okay?"
Ella took a deep breath and said, "So you are marrying Yang, Samuel's driver." A shadow passed over Amber's face as she nodded to the affirmative.
Ella was momentarily jolted by the news.
'Amber and Yang are getting married?'
It felt so unreal to hear that Amber, a hot movie star who was so rich and beautiful, was willing to marry such an ordinary normal man.
"After surviving the accident, I just wanted a peaceful and simple life." Amber knew that Yang was so bland and she was way too good for him. But Yang was such a considerate man, who made Amber feel secure and protected when she was with him.
Ella nodded and said, "All right, I'm glad to see you found what you truly want out of life."
Shortly after 8 o'clock, Lola, Daisy and Lillian walked into the room.
Ella had already put on her wedding dress and the girls were applying their make-up.
Daisy stared at Ella in astonishment and said, "Wow, you look so amazing in this dress that I could barely recognize you. Who are you? Can I ask you out, sexy?"
Ella was amused by her compliment and said, "Daisy, I was told woman became dumb for at least 3 years after having a baby. But it's been over 3 years since you had your kid. Why are you still so dumb?" Daisy cast a stern glance at her and said, "Come on, I'm not dumb!"
"Then why can't you recognize me?" Ella asked her with a wicked smile.
"Okay, you win. You are the bride today, so I give up." Everyone in the room laughed.
While Lola and Lillian were curling Ella's hair, Lola said, "Ella, I bet Samuel won't stop checking you out after he see you."
Ella giggled, "Well, it depends. Samuel came across so many beautiful women through his work. I might not be attractive to him anymore."
Everybody talked, laughed, and prepared for the wedding. Ella began to get nervous as the wedding drew nearer.
When it was close to 10 o'clock, Ella sat on the bed and her heart began to race.
While the girls huddled to take selfies, someone exclaimed, "The groom's here!" The firecrackers began to crackle and splutter outside the room.
The girls got out of the bed, leaving Ella alone on it.
Edith and Zoey didn't know what to do next since they were not familiar with the Chinese wedding tradition. The two had no other choice but to follow Yvonne and Amber, who were running to the door. They heard raucous laughter outside and then someone knocked on the door.
"Open the door, the groom's here!"
It was Joseph, the master of the wedding.
Hearing her husband's voice, Lillian shouted, "Red envelopes! No red envelopes, no opening the door!
And make sure you put enough money in them. Or else we won't take them if they're too thin."
The groom and his men consulted quickly outside. Joseph said, "Girls, open the door a crack. These red envelopes we have prepared are so thick that we can't squeeze them under the door."‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒
