Chapter 130

Cedric almost thought he had misheard. ‘Not good enough?‘ he wondered.

He couldn’t help but curl his lips. “This is ridiculous.”

“What?” he exclaimed.

This time, it wasn’t just Xenia. Evan couldn’t stay silent either. “Cedric, how could you talk to your mother like that?”

“Dad.” Cedric frowned, his handsome face showing disbelief.

“What era are we in? How can you still say not good enough? Is that absurd?” Cedric added.

“You…” Xenia’s words faltered. She exchanged a glance with her husband.

“Cedric.” Seeing her son’s dissatisfaction, Xenia softened her tone. “You grew up abroad, receiving a foreign education. But here, in Jeiacrity, things are different.”

“Mom.” Cedric was unmoved.

“This isn’t about my education. There is no fundamental difference between Eastern and Western education

He hadn’t been caught off guard. He had long anticipated the possibility of his parents objecting.

-So, Cedric spoke clearly and slowly. “Sienna’s been divorced, so what? Does that mean a divorced woman can’t be happy?

Dad, Mom, are we really so old–fashioned?”

His words left Xenia and Evan stunned, speechless. At the party, they had heard that their son and fosiah’s ex–wife seemed to have a complicated connection.

They hadn’t expected it to be true. Eyen more surprising was that their son would say such a thing for her.

For a moment, the couple was left without a response.

Faced with their silence, Cedric didn’t say anything more. They needed time to process it. He reached for the bracelet box on the table.

“Dad, Mom, it’s getting late,” he said, standing up. “I’m going to my room. You should get some rest too. Good night.”

“Oh dear…” After Cedric left, Xenia closed her eyes, raising a hand to her temples.

“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Evan asked.

“I’ve got a headache.” Xenia shook her head, holding her forehead. “What are we going to do? No, I can’t agree to them being together. Absolutely not.”

Monday. Before 6 a.m., Josiah was already waiting outside the dance studio.

After the Serene Joys performance, Sienna had gained some recognition in the circle. Even Miranda had heard about it. Miranda was so pleased. “Sienna’s quietly becoming quite the success.”

Noticing that Sienna hadn’t been home for a few days, Miranda asked Josiah to bring her back. Since she had been busy over the weekend, they planned for Monday.

After waiting for about ten minutes, Josiah looked up and saw Sienna walking out with her bag. He immediately opened the car door and got out. He barely took two steps when he saw someone approaching her.

Chapter 130

It was none other than Xenia

Xenia stopped in front of Sienna, taking off her sunglasses. “Hello, you must be Sienna?”

“Yes. Sienna nodded in surprise. “Hello, may I ask who you are?”

Xenia glanced around. “It’s not very convenient to talk here. How about we find somewhere to sit down and chat? Is that okay?”

“Oh well…” Sienna hesitated. She didn’t even know who the woman was.

Xenia’s smile faded slightly, and her voice lowered on purpose. “I’m Cedric’s mother.”

Sienna stiffened, immediately feeling the pressure coming from her. She could guess why the woman was here.

“Mrs. Brawne, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Sienna greeted.

“Please, no need for formalities.” Xenia raised an eyebrow. “Now, can we sit down and talk?”

“I…” Sienna hesitated, glancing toward Josiah, who was walking toward her.

Before she could speak, Xenia saw Josiah and her forced smile completely disappeared. She no longer had the patience to sit and chat with Sienna.

“Sienna, do you still have contact with your ex–husband? I really don’t understand you. How can you be so shameless?” Xenia asked.

Xenia stared at Sienna, sizing her up. “Besides that face of yours, what makes you think you’re good enough for Cedric? How dare you keep chasing after him?”

At that exact moment, Josiah heard her words. His face instantly darkened.

He wasn’t exactly known for his patience, so he stepped forward and positioned himself between Sienna and Xenia.

“Mrs. Brawne, could you please watch your tone? What do you mean by Sienna chasing after your son? It’s your son who’s the one constantly pursuing Sienna, okay? The Flynn family’s adopted daughter has no interest in chasing anyone,” he defended her.

Xenia froze, her chest tightening with anger.

She glanced at Sienna, then at Josiah. “Oh, I see. You two are really something.”

“Mrs. Brawne.” Seeing the tension, Sienna spoke up, wanting to say something. “Please calm down. What he meant was…”

“No need to say anything.” Xenia interrupted, waving her hand dismissively. “I think there’s no need for further discussion. The reason I came to find you is simple. You and Cedric are not a match. Please, stop bothering him.”

“What bother?” Josiah’s hands clenched into fists suddenly.

But Xenia had already put on her sunglasses and turned to leave.

Josiah stood there, holding his breath, and then abruptly turned to glare at Sienna. “Where is Cedric? Is he really going to let his mother treat you like this?”

Sienna lowered her head, remaining silent.

“Call him,” Josiah insisted, pointing at her. “Call him. We can’t just let this slide.”

But Sienna still didn’t say anything or move.

Chapter 130

“Didn’t you hear me?” he repeated.

Suddenly, Sienna raised her head and met his angry gaze. Josiah froze. Her face… it was so pale. ‘Is she really that upset?‘ he wondered.

‘She must be, he thought. ‘She likes Cedric so much, and yet his mother treats her like this.

“You…” Josiah opened his mouth but then felt a tightness in his chest. “Are you okay? Is everything alright?”

For some reason, even though Sienna should have been the one feeling hurt, he felt uneasy himself.

“I’m fine,” Sienna said, pursing her lips and shaking her head. “Let’s go. Miranda is waiting for us for dinner. We shouldn’t keep her waiting.”

With that, she walked ahead. Once they got in the car, Josiah didn’t dare look directly at her, but kept sneaking glances at her through the rearview mirror.

Though Sienna had become quieter since coming back, today, she was especially subdued. Was she upset? Did she really like Cedric that much?

His breath caught, and Josiah suddenly gripped the steering wheel tightly.

The car pulled up in front of the Flynn residence and parked in front of the main building. Sienna got out of the car and walked ahead.

Josiah stared at her back for a moment, hesitated, and then picked up his phone, dialing Cedric’s number.

At the dinner table, Miranda sat at the head, with Howard and Josiah sitting on one side, and Sienna sitting on the other.

Yvette had work and wasn’t there tonight.

Miranda kept piling food onto Sienna’s plate. “Eat more, we haven’t seen each other in days, and you’re getting thinner again!”

“Miranda.” Sienna smiled, pressing her lips together. “It’s for work. I can’t afford to gain weight. If I do, I won’t be able to jump as high.”

“Right, right,” Miranda nodded enthusiastically, grinning. “Our Sienna is the star now.”

At that moment, the doorbell rang, sounding hurried.

“I’m here.” The servant quickly went to answer the door. “Mr. Brawne?”

“Sienna!” he called out.
