Chapter 17

Chapter Seventeen

Tam shocked, motionless in place. I don't know what to do. I freeze as he kisses me, and although his lips feel nice, I pull back a bit but he cups my face and gently continues to kiss me. I close my eyes and immediately my body relaxes as llet him do whatever he wants to my lips, which it's just lightly kissing. My heart races and my stomach feels like it's filled with butterflies. He pulls back and my eyes are still closed taking in the feeling that his lips gave me.

"See, it can be nice too." He says softly. I open my eyes and he watches me as I feel my face heat up but I'm in such a daze that I don't move.

(That actually did feel really nice.) He smiles and kisses my forehead..

"Let's get some food in you." He says and Inod. Throughout the whole drive, I was still dazed, 1

Once we got to what looked like a restaurant, I quickly tried to regain my composure. Preston and Avery were waiting for us already. We get out of the car and go inside.

"It's Italian, do you like Italian food?" Kayden asks. Inod. "Yea, I do." He smiles and leads me to a table where the others follow. I sit next to Kayden and the others sit in front of us. "Have you talked to your father yet?" Preston asks Kayden. "No, I will eventually, but I'll let him cool off first." Kayden's phone rings and he picks it up. "Yea?"

"What?! How?" Kayden asks alarmed.

"I'll be right there." Kayden says and hangs up.

He looks at us and his face looks pissed. "We'll have to get something on the way." He says and then looks at Preston. "We have something important to handle."

We head home and I can feel the tension coming from Kayden all the way there.

"Call my father in to the office and Abraham too." He says to Grant as we walk in the pack house. "I'll be there soon."

He turns to me and walks closer.

"I'm sorry, I have things to take care of." He says cupping my face and I let him. Somehow, I feel a bit more comfortable with him.

"Is... everything ok?" I ask. "Yes, everything is fine and you don't have to worry about anything." He says and kisses my forehead, "Avery will keep you company. Do whatever you want to do, ok?" He says.

"Can I stay in the room and watch TV?" I ask hoping that it won't be a problem because I really want to watch more of it.

He smiles. "Of course." He hugs me but I don't hug him back. As much as I'm starting to like this, I don't feel completely comfortable yet. I do take his scent in and I can feel him do the same. (This is actually nice.)

Chapter Seventeen

Kayden kisses my head and lets me go, walking over to the office. (What could all that be about?)

I look around and knowing that Evan is not here to torment me makes me feel comfortable being here. I'm surprised that I don't feel any anxiety at all.

I look back to where Kayden left to. (.....I already miss him. Oh goddess, I am so screwed.) "Hey! Ready for girl time?" Avery asks walking from behind me.

Inod still looking in the direction that Kayden left. We head upstairs and when we get to the room, we see all the bags on the bed and I groan knowing that I have to put everything away.

"Oooh yes!!" Avery says excitedly. "What?" I ask confused. "This is going to be fun!" She says.

"You... really like clothes, don't you?" I ask. She nods and claps her hands with a huge smile.

I sigh and go to my closet. I take all my old stuff out that by the way is not really a lot and then I put them in a bag.

"Do you really think there's enough space?" I ask.

The closet is huge but we did get a lot of clothes, so I'm not sure it will all fit. "Yep, and if there isn't, we'll invade Kayden's side." She says mischievously. "I'm sure he won't mind." But we didn't have to because everything fit perfectly. "Now the good stuff." She says taking the lingerie out of the bag. I sigh. "Dol really have to wear that?" I ask.

"You don't have to, but if you ever want to give Kayden a treat, he will love it." She says. "And if you're not ready to go all the way but you still want to surprise him, there are other things you can do."

I look at her curiously. "Like what?"

She smiles. "Well, one of the easiest things is a hand job."

I scrunch my face. "What is that?" I ask and a few minutes later I regret it. She told me in full detail of how to give a hand job and a bit more.

I stop asking question cause I'm a little afraid of what she is going to tell me. Once we put the clothes away Avery starts to put away the shoes in an organized way and since she doesn't need my help, Igo take a shower and then change in to some of the new clothes, a dark yellow knitted sweater with short denim pants and new bunny slippers.

When I come out, the shoe area looks like a store. She's very thorough. We sit on the bed and I attempt to turn on the TV but I don't know how to work it,

Avery laughs when she sees me pushing all the buttons. "Here, this one." The TV turns on andlam

We start scrolling around shows. "What about this one?" She asks. "Is it a romantic thing?" I ask cringing. She sighs. "Yea. Ok let me see, I think that you might like this one." "Supernatural?" I ask. Chapter Seventeen

"Oh, ok." I say teeling intrigued.

Aknock startles us, Avery opens the door and Grant is there with a bag.

"Kayden ordered you girls dinner since you didn't get to eat." He says handing the bag to Avery. "Awesome! Thanks." She turns to me. "Your man is brilliant." She says setting the food on the bed.

(My man...) 1ponder that and I know I'm starting to like how that is sounding but I'm just still so

"Do you have a mate?" I ask her. She looks up at me and has a sad expression. "No, I lost my mate when I was younger." Igasp. "I'm so sorry."

We can feel when our mates die, even if we haven't met them yet. Usually around our teenage years and from there on. We only get one true mate. If they die, then when we are ready, we can choose our own mate.

She smiles. "It's fine....but Grant met his here when we arrived. One of the female warriors." She says obviously changing the focus from her.

"Oh." I say deep in thought. (I wont pry, it must be hard for her to talk about it.)

"Yea, she's always busy so I haven't really spent any time with her but she seems nice." Avery says.

I look at Aery while she starts to eat. (She has been really nice to me and tries to teach me of things that are new to me. Can I really trust her?)

"Avery?"

"Yea?" "... I'm really scared." She looks a little panicked. "About what?"

"Everything. For years all I wanted was for all of it to end. I thought that maybe if I was lucky, one day! just... would not wake up. I never wanted a mate because I've hated men for a long time. And now, I have one and he's an Alpha... and now I'm supposed to be Luna to a pack that... I hate."

She turns her head back to the TV. "I don't know what to say about that but, I can tell you what I know." She looks back at me. "Kayden is a good man and for the last two years, all he wanted to do was come back to the pack to see you. Even if it was just for a glimpse of you. I know that he is going to be a great Alpha and if you let him, I'm sure he'll be a great mate."

She starts eating her food. "As for the pack, you don't have to like the people in it to be a good Luna. Example, you look after the pack members just like a Luna should do, and call them motherfuckers behind their backs. You really don't have to like them."

I stay there thinking about it. (That's a lot easier said than done. As for Kayden, he has been good to me so far and when he kissed me, it felt perfect, it felt right.)

The show is starting but the door opens and Kayden comes in. "Meeting done?" Avery asks.

"No, I just wanted to come check on you guys." He says.

She rolls her eyes. "You mean you wanted to see your mate."

"Yea, you are completely right." He says smiling.

She gets up and walks to the door. "Go ahead, I'm going to go get drinks." She says closing the door behind her.

Chapter Seventeen

He looks at me and smiles. "You look great." He walks over and sits next to me, then he lifts me up and sits me on his lap. He nuzzles in to my neck on the place where he's supposed to mark me and Itense up.

He senses my reaction. "I'm not going to right now but, you know I can't wait long. But I'll give you a few days to get used to the idea." He say softly.

(Good, because I don't feel ready.) It's in his nature to mark me, it gives him piece of mind when I'm around other men. Same for females, that's how it is for our kind.

Trelax but then he starts kissing my shoulders and I tense back up again but not because I'm scared, but because my body likes it. Feeling his lips on my skin is pure pleasure. He kisses up my neck and then nuzzles in to my hair taking my scent in..

Avery comes in and whistles. "Getting a little heated up here huh?"

Kayden rolls his eyes. We get up and he kisses my head then goes back downstairs while Avery tries to tease me but lignore her. We manage to watch the first episode of the show and I love it immediately. We are about to watch a second episode but we are interrupted by Grant who tells me to go to Kayden's office. Confused, I go there and when I get there, Kayden is alone looking at some papers. He looks up at me and concern fills his face.

He sighs and gets up. "There's something I have to tell you." Dread fills me at the way he says that.
